A Bit of a One Tracked Mind This Week

My Simple Woman’s Daybook: July 26, 2010

Outside my window….it is sunny and the start of another summer day – but not as oppressive as the weekend. This past weekend we had temps in the low 100s and plenty of humidity – definitely those “dog days” of summer. We had a doozy of a storm blow through yesterday evening and the air is much more pleasant this morning – even enjoyed our morning drinks on the patio again!

I am thinking…about everyone’s comments and thoughts regarding the beach and the mountains this past Friday for our time with friends. I am really enjoying these Friday posts. There were two posts linked in and several preferences noted in the comments. Just for fun…I took the names of all those who joined “Friday with Friends,” threw them in a hat and had Hubbie draw a name…and Debbie is a winner this morning! Just a wee little something – just for a friend:) Can you email me your new address??

I am wearing….a new size these days – WOO HOO and high fives!!

I am remembering…yesterday’s Sunday school lesson. We had a lesson from one our summer interns – a young man still in college (read that young!) and it was a fantastic lesson. So exciting to see the potential in these young people who are dedicated and eager to serve the Lord and follow the path He has set for their lives. No doubt, God has great plans for Jared. What a blessing yesterday!

I am going….to try and find new shoes to wear with my dress this Thursday. This Thursday evening is ladies’ night with several friends – dinner and a play. We are going to see Mary Poppins at the Kennedy Center downtown. How cool! I can’t wait. We decided to go a bit dressy…just for fun…and I have a cute dress (that fits me so much better now) but I need cute shoes:) So looking foward to this night:)

I am reading….um, not much. (Well, I am doing my devotions but you know all that extra reading that you are supposed to have time for during the summer – not so much.)

I am hoping…..I can contain myself for next five days – until Jordan comes home!! Finally was able to talk to him last night – yeah! And we are all counting the minutes until noon on Friday:)

On my mind…sweet Tyler. This week also includes his “Heaven birthday” as another grieving friend says – four years since my baby…and a huge part of my heart…has been in Heaven. All that he is doing, I can only imagine – but I’m sure he is doing it “big” and what that reunion will be like – when Tyler can introduce me to Jesus himself – truly, I can only imagine!

From the kitchen….one yummy new recipe and one semi-flop this past week. The new mac and cheese was only ok (I like my old recipe better). I had to substitute one cheese and maybe that made the difference. What is guyere cheese anyhoo?? I certainly could not find it.

Around the house…did I mention that Jordan is coming?? 🙂 He has never been in our new home – I hope it says “HOME” to him! And I hope it doesn’t say “dusty” to him. Ugh, on dust!

Plans for the week….well, I think I mentioned that. My girlfriend that moved to Pennsylvania earlier this year is coming down for Thursday evening – can’t wait to see her again. I suppose I should dust before she comes – and then I’ll have that done for Jordan, as well! Am I clever? And then at the airport on Friday – but I guess I already mentioned that a time or two!

One of my favorite things….

Organized Junk….er, stuff!!

  1. Popping over to say hey and thanks for the comment.

Yes, revisiting places that hold happy memories can be difficult and making new memories is hard too. Our first vacation without Peyton was……Hilton Head!!! It is so wonderful there. That was the first time I'd spent any time on a beach and I loved it. I don't think an Arkansas creek bank can be considered a beach 🙂

Praying for you to have a victorious week as Tyler's heavenly birthday rolls around.

  2. wow, a roller coaster of emotions in store for this week!!! I know you are excited about Jordan coming home, as you should! 🙂
    Enjoy the time with him.
I like the "heavenly birthday" title for Tyler's home going. That sounds so welcoming! 🙂
Mary Poppins, huh!!! Wow…that sounds like fun! And dressing up too! Enjoy!! Have a great week. Praying for you.

  3. How I love these kind of posts…I am soo excited for you for Jordan that I can hardly stand it either. YAY YAY YAY!!! Your girls night sounds wonderful ~ Mary Poppins will be good for sure. Hugs, Debbie

  4. I am not sure if I am the Debbie you were referring to here, haha…but I am Debbie and I do have a new address…BUT I don't seem to have your e-mail address…If you have picked ANOTHER Debbie it's totally fine of course, but I just didn't know…HUGS…me

  5. Sounds like you have lost some weight, girlfriend. That is wonderful! You will look so glamorous for your night out with the ladies. Enjoy!!! And Jordan will be so happy to see his sweet Mom when he comes home. Enjoy your week. It sounds like a fun one, for sure. Praying for you as you approach Tyler's homecoming date. Love & blessings from NC!

  6. Jennifer, what a blessing it was to visit your blog. I felt like I was dropping in to visit a friend. It sounds like you've lost some weight recently. I'm working on getting off some extra pounds I've recenlty accumulated.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Losing a child is something I can't even imagine. The sorrow must be something only the Lord Himself can comfort. One day there will be a happy reunion in heaven but in the meantime …

I'm glad you stopped by Heart Choices this morning and read the post on waiting. It is hard and it takes courage and trust in the Lord.

    Blessings and love,
    Debbie
