On Travel and Fashion

It is time for Friday with Friends and I don’t know that I’ve given anyone enough time to join and I think I’ve about overshared about my cross country trip; however, if you would like to share about your memorable journey, I would LOVE to hear about it. Just let me know and I will link you in….

I was thinking about long trips and the fact that I enjoyed this one so much really is a treasure as I usually am not that patient with riding for long periods of time. I tend to grumble quite quickly. If I’m not moaning, I fall asleep…. alot – but I was a real trooper on this trip (and, just for the record, didn’t sleep a wink while in the truck). The last time I remember travelling in the car and it actually being fun was way back in college (way back for me!) My best friend – and still one of the best! – lived in upstate New York. I was a mere three hours from home and still in the same state. I’d never been farther north than near-by Maryland and my idea of New York was NYC.

The first trip we made to her little home town was amazing for me. This was NOT NYC…but a beautiful, old town nestled in the mountains and her house was on a huge lake! Everything was so different from all I’d known in my home town and I loved it. The road trips to her house were long – and even often snowy – but any roadtrip with Deb was the best of times!! Definitely some of my best memories!! In fact, I think I need to plan another road trip with that girlyfriend!

Seeing other parts of the country is just so exciting!! If you have time, share with us today:) But before I go, I have to let you in on something. I am highly fashionable!! No kidding. And I had no idea.
I was looking through a sale booklet from Bed Bath and Beyond that came in the mail yesterday and they have for sale – get this – some type of something you put in your pants to make your backside look big!! Go figure! I just couldn’t believe people were paying money for that.
Well, little did I know but my daughter was quick to inform me (I’m tellin’ you this kids are full of usefull information) that a recent music “star” – I have no idea who – recently had plastic surgery to increase her rear view!! Are you kidding me??
And here I am…dieting and exercising and working my b*tt off (ha ha…just had to put that) to lose the inches – when all along big bums are fashionable?!? Well, if that is the case – I am HUGELY fashionable! Just so you know:) Have a great weekend – and share your adventure story if you can.

  1. Wow! I'm padded in the rear for free!! Who knew! Loved reading about your trip and seeing the pictures. What a great experience for you and your brother. I'm been terribla about visiting blogs this week, but I sure do appreciate all of your sweet comments. You make my day!

  2. haha Yes, I fit right in as well. Nice to know I am the height of fashion. I remember an road trip we made several years ago to Texas when Mel was playing travel softball. My hubby and I and Mel and my youngest son made it. He was 17 and she was 11. It was just soo much fun believe it or not all those long hours (17) in the car together. We played games, sang and listened to music, listened to two entire books and talked and talked and talked. Once we FINALLY got there we stayed in the neatest hotel and joined all the other families of the girls on the team It was for nationals. We (and two other teams) were representing California. The girls all got introduced to each other from all over the United States at a big gathering the first night. The girls all dressed up and got introduced to the music blaring the beach boys "Wish they all could be California girls"…it was such a fun night ~ warm and a feeling of being a part of something big. Never forget that trip for sure. Jimmy, the 17 year old was soo there for his little sister too. Never forget that either. Hope you have a great week-end. HUGS, Debbie

  3. HI JENN,
THANKS FOR COMING BY FOR THANKFUL THURSDAY AND YOUR SWEET COMMENTS, AS ALWAYS. PER YOUR QUESTION…. NO JOB OFFERS YET FOR HUBBY. WE ARE BEGINNING TO FEEL THE LORD MIGHT BE LEADING HIM TO START HIS OWN BUSINESS, SO HE HAS BEEN WORKING TOWARD THAT AND WHEN HE GETS WHERE THINGS ARE READY TO MOVE FORWARD THEN GUESS THE LORD WILL GIVE US SOME MORE DIRECTIONS.
HE IS STILL APPLYING FOR JOBS TOO,
OF COURSE, SO WE WILL SEE!! IT WAS 9 WEEKS YESTERDAY, BUT THE LORD CONTINUES TO PROVE HIMSELF FAITHFUL AS ALWAYS.
THAT IS TOO FUNNY ABOUT THE REAREND PADDING, ACTUALLY I COULD USE IT!! I HAVE NO BUM HARDLY BUT
I PUT MY WEIGHT ON THRU THE MID-SECTION, O JOY!! LOL
QUITE ANNOYING ACTUALLY- HARD TO FIND PANTS THAT LOOK NICE, CAUSE IF THEY FIT MY WAIST THEY ARE TOO BIG EVERYWHERE ELSE, SO I AM USUALLY IN SEARCH OF NICE LOOKING PANTS OR SHORTS THAT HAVE ELASTIC WAISTBANDS. HAS ALWAYS MADE ME FEEL LIKE AN OLD WOMAN, COURSE NOW I REALLY AM. LOL SO I HAVE FINALLY CAUGHT UP WITH MY PANTS STYLE. LOL
HOPR YOU HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND HON, AND SO GLAD YOU ENJOYED YOUR ROADTRIP SO MUCH, THAT IS THE SPICE OF LIFE!!
    LOVE AND BLESSINGS, NELLIE

  4. lol! No matter what my weight is, and even when pregnant, I never gain weight in my rear. In fact, I'd love to do a little fat transplant right now from my tummy to my rear, but I'd be too chicken to go through with it 😉 Isn't it cool to learn you are in style and aren't even trying, lol!

Loved the sailboat picture. I saw this too late to participate, but hope to another Friday.

    Have a great weekend!!!

  5. Hey Jennifer! This is my first visit here and love your blog! I must say that I'm with you on the rear view thang…..Who'd of thought that us rear-ly challenged gals would be so envied….and here I am paying for a spa membership to unload my rear, lol!!

Anyhow…..loved reading several of your posts. I've made the cross country trip on I-10 from FLA to AZ many times in our transfers and moves and boy howdy that's a looooong drive!! We always tried to stop and eat at where the locals ate and experience their corner of the world…..had alot of great memories. As for traveling with furry friends…..I've had to sneek my kitties into a motel in a pillow case while praying they wouldn't meow and get me busted. Honestly one night as we were going through Houston, we were so exhausted, I couldn't see the road in front of me and just had to stop and didn't care if pet's were OK or not…….so we hid the critters under our jackets and nonchalantly strolled through the lobby to our room and collapsed….the pet police didn't come so it was all good! LOL!!

I'm following along with you now and hope you'll stop by my place for a visit sometime….I love meeting new bloggin' sisters in the Lord!!

    Sweet Blessings!
    Jackie
