Citizenship

Thankful Thursday …. and I am so thankful for this country and the privilege I have to be an American. I am thankful for the rich heritage of our country – for men and women who bravely came here in search of religious freedom and for the early fathers of our country who, although they were not perfect, sought to found this country on Godly principles. I am thankful for the privilege I have to vote and participate in our democracy. Yes, I am concerned, even fearful, for our country but it is my country and it is worth praying for – which is what I intend to do – and it is worth fighting for. I am thankful for our service men and women who fight for our country’s honor! I am proud to be an American.

Although I am a citizen here (as the old hymn goes)…”this world is not my home..I’m just a passing through..there’s treasures laid up for…somewhere beyond the blue” and today I am so very thankful that my real citizenship is in Heaven. When I remember that this time here is truly brief and I have a home in Heaven, it helps to restore the calm and peace to my life which has been alluding me lately. There may, indeed, be troublesome days ahead but I will keep my eyes turned toward to my home above to keep things in perspective.

“………but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven .” Luke 10:20b
