Election Day is Tuesday

A bit of a different type of Thankful Thursday for me but I really had to “say” something and, I suppose, incorporating my thoughts…and opinions…in a thankful post is the nicest way to do it:) I am thankful to be an American and for America. I am thankful for its heritage and rich history of a country founded on Christian principles. I am so thankful for the freedoms that being an American allows me.

I must admit photos like this one……….

not only anger me, but they also sadden me. But I also want them to remind me of several things. One: there is a real need to pray for our country and its leaders. We simply cannot assume that our country will always be the great country that it has been or that our freedoms cannot be stripped away from us. We also need to pray for those defending our country and its freedoms every day. For a real “commentary” on this photo…check out this cartoon at this blog. Two: it is not only a priviledge but a tremendous responsiblity to vote – and to vote in all elections…not just “the big ones.” And we need to vote informed. Know the issues and know the candidates and don’t simply be carried by public opinion, tv ads or the biggest signs on the side of the highway. Three: God gives specific promises to those who will humble themselves and pray for their country. Amen.

  1. Wow! I couldn't have said it better! What a tremendous responsibility we have been given, and so many folks don't even go out to the polls! You can count me in on Tuesday! 🙂

  2. Absolutley beautifully stated! What an encouragement to seek out and vote for godly leaders. Thank you for sharing, blessing and encouraging.

Truly a picture is worth a thousand words!

  3. I will be voting. And I will be so glad when the election is over. My phone is going non stop with those darn political calls!!

    Have a great day!

  4. You just couldn't have said this any better Jennifer. Oh how I agree with each and every little word. We do NEED to vote, and we MUST pray diligently. Soo much of what this country was founded on is just pushed away anymore. The picture soo saddens me too, but I will admit to some anger as well. How has this happened? I am soo glad you wrote this post. Have a GOOD day my friend…HUGS, Debbie

  5. Very good post, Jennifer. And I remember Lois' post awhile back as well.

I am in an area where we can do early voting–did that last week. I'm glad we have the privilege to vote, and just like another post said, I'm looking forward to the political phone calls coming to an end!

Hope you have a good weekend!

  6. I am completely shocked by this picture!!!

I am in total agreement with you on the shoe thing. You never mentioned how large a shoe you wear! I wear a size 11 and it is so difficult to find shoes! My daughter is a size 12 and my sister is a size 13! Very difficult in this family!

  7. Hi Jen! Just wanted to say that I love you and THANK YOU for adding that "count down ticker" to my blog!! I just added a post to my blog and saw it and was like, "Oh my gosh is that so cute!!" LOVE it and love that you can "turn the light on or off" and "tickle the baby." So adorable 🙂

Hope you have a good week!

    Erica

  9. Great post! What a needed reminder that we all must do our part so our rights are not stripped away from us. That includes praying for our nation and it's leaders.
We had some great victories on Tues.
