Happy Friday! My last post was a bit on the heavy side… so, today, I am starting this weekend with a few photos and encouraging thoughts! I enjoyed the I Spy Photo challenge last week and have found myself “on the lookout” throughout the week for photos that might fit this week’s prompts. Granted most of my photos end up deleted, but I’m trying to focus on the fun of the process rather than the actual product. I managed three (if you count the extra “your choice”) of the prompts this week – “wet” and “favorite.”
I will start with a favorite. Without a doubt, mornings are my favorite. My happy time, for sure! I love the energy I have in the morning. I love the mood and feel of my home in the morning – before the schedules of the day take over. And I love the streams of morning sunshine that start slowly but soon flood the house with light as we open the house for the day.
The morning sun barely makes it onto our porch in the fall (and doesn’t last long!) but even the pansies and violas seem to smile while it does! We managed to get the porch looking a bit more ready for fall this week. I love mums but they do not seem to like me – or, at least, my shady porch. We did put one (on the other side) but I don’t imagine it will last long. Sigh.
“It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: to shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night…” Psalm 92:1-2
I read these verses just this morning. We need to start our days – our mornings – with praise. And with thanksgiving. Proclaiming, as well as claiming, His love and His faithfulness. Mornings can so quickly get away from us – quickly consumed by the demands and plans of the day. How much better to start our mornings with intention. Intention to focus on Christ, on His promises, and all that He is to us!! One more thing to love about mornings:)
I captured this photo earlier this week after a morning of easy rain. That gentle kind of rain which makes everything just look refreshed.
“Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.”
Words of encouragement – and a reminder of the rich mercy that is offered us – from Hosea 6:3.
And, yes, just for fun and/or perhaps another favorite:) These two lazy, nap-lovin pups…who are the best of friends (they love to be smooched against each other) and who apparently love a sun-drenched room as much as I do!! They are the “granddogs” and, yea, they are kind of my favorites!!:)
I hope you have a wonderful weekend. A sun-streaming in all the windows kind of a weekend!! Thanks for stopping by….
Hello! Just met you through my blog, “Closed Doors, Open Windows”, where you left such a nice comment, and so I wanted to come right over and meet you at “your place” and get better acquainted! It seems we have some things in common…some that we’d rather not have, like the loss of a beloved child. That is one “group” no one ever wants or plans to join, but sometimes things happen in life beyond our control and we have to trust God that He will take care of us and be with us no matter what disappointments and sorrows come our way. And sometimes we are here to encourage and help others through this journey that we are already treading. I see you are also an Anne of Green Gables fan, among other things. I do look forward to getting to know you, and I thank you for your beautiful blog, sharing God’s Word as you go along…that is a blessing for everyone to see! Thank you again for visiting! Hope to see you again soon.
Pamela – so glad you stopped by and introduced yourself a bit more! What a delight! I look forward to more visits….and hope you are having a wonderful week so far!!
Hi, Jennifer!
I love your blog, my friend, but don’t see a way to follow you. Am I just not looking hard enough? You can contact me at marthaorlando@gmail.com.
Blessings!
Hi Martha – apparently when I deleted “Jetpack” my follow button went with it. Sigh..and who knew? I will definitely have to look into that…although it totally falls into the technical aspect of blogging which is my challenge, for sure! I’m so glad you stopped by, though, and left the inquiry. I look forward to visiting more!!
I love your fall porch! I read an article last week that said mums don’t like most people and are so hard to care for. It’s not just you, it’s me too and everyone else, apparently, so hopefully that’ll ease your mind. I updated my porch this weekend as well and bought two of those crotons plants. I love them! Especially because they’re super low maintenance. That is definitely the name of the game for me. I loved seeing your grand pups! How sweet that they sleep like that. Have a great day, my friend!
Those pups are a mess, for sure!! Those croton plants are new to us – but don’t they just add the perfect touch of fall color!? Maybe I can keep them alive longer than a week (like my mums)!!?
