Happy Easter weekend – and Resurrection Sunday!!
As I only post on Tuesday and Friday, let me take the chance now to wish everyone a happy and blessed Easter. Yes, we will all be celebrating uniquely this year, but, oh, the quarantine has not stopped Easter. Christ’s resurrection is still true and the foundation of our faith!
“And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.” I Corinthians 15:14
Because of Easter. Because of Sunday morning. Because of the resurrection, our faith is not in vain nor is it useless. That is cause to celebrate this weekend:)
Leslie is sharing 10 favorite quotes, verses or songs today (her 10 on the 10th link-up). I am not sure I could put together ten and, if I did, this would be the longest post. However, I did want to share two of my favorite Easter songs – and one (unexpected) quote – to encourage and uplift your heart this weekend. I pray it is full of blessings!
An Easter quote – from Pope John Paul II…and I do not often quote the Pope:)
“Do not abandon yourselves to despair. We are the Easter people and hallelujah is our song.”
We are the Easter people. That thought has been with me for weeks since I read that quote. There is no better time (or circumstance) for us, as Christians, to let our lights shine. It has been said many times that light shines brightest in the darkness. Easter is our time to shine!!
Two favorite songs. The first from Ron Hamilton (also known as Patch the Pirate). It is called My Hope is Still Alive and has been on repeat in my head! I could not find the entire lyrics but this is the chorus:
My Hope is still alive
My Hope is still alive
My savior lives forever,
Praise God, and so shall I
Hallelujah, Christ is risen
All power to Him is given,
Christ Jesus lives
My Hope is still alive!!
Here are two recordings I found on Youtube – one from Majesty Music (Ron Hamilton) and one of a choir recording…because I love church choirs!
This second is also from Ron Hamilton. (Total coincidence…hmmm??) I also could not find the lyrics but the title rather says it all. It’s Friday but Sunday’s Coming!! Oh, yes indeed it is! You can listen to it here. And then dwell on that thought all weekend! Happy Easter friends!!
When I was thinking of quotes that have meant something in my life, I remembered having heard and seen Pope John Paul II in Panama in 1983. And while I could barely hear what he was saying, and all of it was in Spanish, there was a peace that came over me and the entire abandoned airfield from where he spoke. I am not Catholic but that was an especially moving moment for me. The quote you shared is beautiful.
Thankful for the miracle of that first Easter Sunday many years ago.
So glad you stopped by, Leslie! I pray you have a beautiful Easter!!
PS – glad enjoyed the quote…we are the Easter people!!:)
