And just like that….we are at Friday! Time for this month’s Share Four Something post and link-up. I’ll post today but the link-up is not until tomorrow. I will include that as soon as I can – aka, as soon as I get home. Right now, I am in North Carolina. I am away from my computer and totally okay with that. I am actually preparing this post before I leave home which is both new and a bit awkward for me, to tell the truth. How do I really know what I want to say days from now?? Nevertheless, having just returned to blogging, I did not want to take a vacation so soon:) So, let’s see if I can make sense of this….and share some things from my life lately! By the way, the link-up is hosted by my friend, Jennifer.
Something I Loved
Travelling. It seems like far too long since I’ve been anywhere. You know, anywhere other than the grocery store or to lunch with friends. Lunch with friends is fun but I have been ready to “get away” and that has happened not once, but twice, in the last four weeks. I must admit, I do not enjoy airports. The actual flying is okay but airports totally stress me. But the convenience and time saved when flying really is nice. So, this month….I am loving travel, all the fun while visiting my friend, newborn snuggles and even flying again! Oh the places I could go:)
Something I Read
This month I have been reading Eat Right 4 Your Type (the Blood Type Diet Solution) by Dr. Peter D’Adamo. I think it is fascinating. I have always preferred a diet book (although this is much more than a diet book, in my opinion) that is science based yet easy to understand. This book is just that. It discusses the four different blood types and explains how each blood type responds best – not only losing weight but also functioning at its healthiest – when eating a certain way. For instance, my blood type “flourishes on a plant based diet.” Well doesn’t that make my vegetarian heart happy? The book contains foods that are helpful, harmful and those that are “neutral” for each blood type.
I’m curious if any of you have heard and/or read this book? Have you tried the principles in it? This book/diet was highly recommended (even advised) to me several years ago by my doctor. I have no idea why I did not follow through at the time. Let’s just say….I am much more on board this time around!
Something I Learned
Just a tidbit here. I do not have the source for this survey and, granted, I am not always sure about the accuracy of “survey data” but at least one poll found that “the average Christian spends about two minutes per day in prayer.” Two minutes. I honestly cannot wrap my head around that. Can this true? I don’t know how most (or even many) Christians would answer this, but I would not hesitate to assume that the number of minutes spent in prayer is woefully low. This thought was unsettling, to the say the least, for me. No matter what number I would put if asked this question, I know it is shameful. There is no patting myself on the back because I spend x-amount of time in prayer….or more than your “average” Christian (as indicated by the survey). That is not the point. The examination of my prayer life is….well, humbling. But also necessary.
A few other random truths learned this month: 1 – Soft serve ice cream is a bit boring. I know…gasp. I’ve mentioned more than a couple times here that I really like soft serve. But, it is losing its appeal. The fact that we have discovered an amazing neighborhood ice cream café may or may not have swayed my decision. 2 – The fact that said ice cream shop is less than five miles from my house is dangerous. 3 – Ice cream is not highly recommended (or even recommended at all) for my blood type. I might cry. 4 – Going out for summer evening ice cream runs just makes me happy. I think staying happy is crucial to my continued recovery…so I’m considering it “therapy” and the calories don’t count!:)
Something I Ate
Umm….ice cream!! I should have saved that last paragraph for now. Because honestly, I cannot think of anything else that is new or interesting. Just loving the summer burgers (veggie, of course), fresh vegetables and grilled cheese sandwiches. Right now, I have a small obsession with grilled cheese sandwiches. What have you eaten interesting lately? Let me know in the comments. And, as always, thanks for stopping by. Come back next week. Maybe I will actually remember to take a photo or two while on my trip. If so, I’ll share them on Monday!! Fingers crossed!
These are fun things about you, to know!
hugs

My husband is an ice cream fanatic. He has been known to eat an entire pint of Hagen Dasz in one sitting, and anytime we go to an ice cream shop, he always gets at least a double scoop. Single scoop? Never! Why settle for 1 when 2 (or more) is available?
That statistic is shocking, but actually not surprising. If I didn’t have my weekly prayer time with my longtime (25 year!) prayer partner, my prayer time would be abysmally low as well.
I have not heard of the Blood Diet diet, but I am going to check it out. I am always wanting to learn more about the relationship between diet and health.
Blessings,
Patti
We’ve just returned from Sicily and the gelato was amazing! Who knew there were so many different flavours to be tried? 😉
I have not heard of a diet based on blood type but it may answer a question about why my husband’s digestion is so different to mine – I need to investigate!
I’m a fan of toasted cheese sandwiches but my favourite lunch at the moment is one slice of toast with melted cheese on top and then a poached egg on top of that – yum!
Haha, I feel like I have eaten everything lately! I shared about it in my post. I am glad you are doing well and enjoying traveling again. I just got back from TN and had a great time. I hate flying, I haven’t done it in about 7 years and have no desire to do it again…but we’ll see. I hope you are enjoying your time away. Have a great week!
Airports stress me out too but I don’t mind the actual flying part. I’m so curious about that blood type diet book but don’t know what blood type I am! We had a new ice cream shop open just a few minutes from home and we are visiting it far to often this summer…. but like you said ice cream makes me happy so I haven’t been holding back nearly as much as I probably should.
Wow, those results on prayer are astonishing, but probably truer than we would like to accept. I know I do struggle with my prayer time, breaking it into multiple small times a day. But when I think about it, I know I could do better.
Ice Cream! I’m with you, and I love going out for ice cream in the summer, we always did that when I was a child, so some of my fondest summer memories involve ice cream!
