I just want to share a hymn that has spoken to me a lot lately….and been in my brain. I won’t share a lot of my own thoughts but hope God will speak something to you through it…..careful, if you’re like me, you’ll have it in singing in your mind all weekend!! (Have a great one!)
A hymn about following God’s plan
Trust and Obey
When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt nor a fear, not a sigh nor a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief nor a loss, not a frown nor a cross,
But is blest if we trust and obey.
But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows and the joy He bestows
Are for them who will trust and obey.
Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do, Where He sends we will go–
Never fear, only trust and obey.
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus,
but to trust and obey.
Words: John H. Sammis, 1887. Music: Daniel B. Towner
Oh, I remember singing that in church when I was younger…glad you shared it today!
I just love the old hymns! They are so full of rich truth. If I couldn't have a Bible, I would want to have an old time Hymnal!
Thanks for sharing!
That is one of my favorites, and has really meant a lot to me at different times. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
What a beautiful hymn – I remember singing it as a child at my church and I love it! 🙂 I love that picture too . . . I just wanted to thank-you for stopping by and watching my story on my blog – it means a lot to me!
As you read on my blog, I am up in the mountains this week. It is ironic that you would write about that hymn, because we sing that a lot at the church we attend here. It is the church that my Grandparents went to when they were living. I love that hymn and lots of other old hymns. Thanks for sharing and thanks for visiting my blog. Have a wonderful week. I want to email you. I need to see if you have an email address on your profile. It is amazing that God has put you and I together. We have some things in common that I want to share with you. Love & blessings from NC!
It's me again. Send me your email address at EmptyNestTales@gmail.com.
Thanks and have a blessed day.

I love the truths that ring out in this hymn. It is one of my favorites!
One just feel good singing this song, right? Even when it is your darkest hour this song brings peace. Hope it does for too.
I appreciate your obvious love for the great hymns of the faith. And they do seem to ring an answering chime in the hearts of many. It's like, "That's exactly how I feel." Or, "That's exactly what I'd day, if I had the skills of a poet."
I encourage you to drop by my blog site, Wordwise Hymns. It will tell you something that happened concerning our great hymns on that particular date. A new post each day.
God bless.
