Where is Spring??

A Simple Woman’s Daybook: Feb. 1, 2010

Outside my window….there is snow – again! Yes, it is beautiful as it is coming down. Yes, I enjoyed a “snow day” at home with Hubbie. Honestly, though, I have had my fill of snow. I am dreaming of daffodils, yellow forsythia and spring!!

I am thinking…about my Valentine’s party I have planned for next week. Who says those are just for kids??

I am thankful for…God’s promises of Heaven and knowing one day I will see Tyler and many others once again!

I am wearing…something to work out in. I am actually going to work out this morning – and three times this week…if it kills me (and it just might!)

I am remembering…my sweet friend, Tammie – another grieving mommy. Her three-year old, Ben, went to Heaven two years ago next week. I know these days leading up to that Heaven birthday are painfully filled with so many memories.

I am going…to the grocery store today and none too soon. The cupboards are looking pretty bare.

I am reading….back issues of Better Homes and Garden magazines that Susan gave me before she moved. I’ve never really read this magazine – and I don’t know why because I am really enjoying all the decorating tips, hints and ideas.

I am hoping..the possibility of more snow this week is just a joke!

On my mind….Tyler – and Ben, and Nick, and Amy, and Andrew, and Mallory…..

From the kitchen…I am trying several new recipes this week. Could be a good thing, or..a not so good thing??

Around the house…there are hardwood floors that need to be cleaned – again. Thank you snow. Oh, and the cold weather gear that never seems to make it from “in front of the fireplace to dry out” to the coat closet where it actually belongs!

Plans for the week…a “Paint your Heart Out” for our Ladies’ Day Out this month. No, I am not artsy or creative – at all – but painting pottery with your friends sure sounds like a lot of fun.

One of my favorite things…my down comforter. It was originally my mother’s and is the sink down into and get lost kind that is so wonderful – especially on these bitter cold winter nights. Not only is it incredibly snuggly but it brings back wonderful memories of Mom!

  2. I enjoyed your post. It is always so much fun learning about my special blogger friends. I'm with you, enough of this snow. Our city school kids are not back in school yet, as the roads are not good at all. Love & blessings from NC!

  3. Morning Jennifer,
Just read where the Ground hog saw
his shadow and we have 6 more weeks of winter. Not surprised really,
but you can always dream!! I was thinking the same thing you were yesterday about spring. I too, am
getting weary of all this drab brown dead stuff! Course, we the newness of spring bursts forth we will enjoy it that much more……at least I tell myself that! lol
But I really do think it is true.
I can only imagine how sick of the snow you are cause yall have had
    a lot this year!
Neat you are trying new recipes,
that spurs me on!! I love better homes and gardens magazine, it is one of my favorites really cause it has a lil of everything.
I also get an email from them almost daily with all sorts of ideas and I love to see it in my email box!! It's a fun thing!! lol
At least we can look at magazine and see ideas for spring and we will be so eager to employ them as soon as the time is right.
I am thinking about doing something for Valentines day too,
but probably not on the day, maybe like on a Thurs. or Friday night
before. I am thinking a simple dinner like London Broil on the grill, baked Potatoes and a nice
salad and bread, but setting the table really pretty. Gotta think of a nice dessert too! I am thinking of inviting my kids and their girlfriend/boyfriends. We always have a nice time together,
and we haven't had a nice dinner together since New Years.
Well, better go before I write a novel!! lol
Have a really great day hon,
    Blessings, Nellie

  4. Sounds like you are accomplishing a lot of different things.
Spring will sure be welcomed this year.
FYI My hubby made the snowman on the header. That's him in his camo peaking around it.

  5. I don't get snow here in the deep South where I live so I can't even relate. My brother and his family moved to Illinois last year so they are really having a hard time adjusting to all the snow and cold weather. Have a wonderful week!

  6. Hi Jennifer! Well, we don't get snow where I live very often so I've been living it through ones like you! But I will amen with you for no more snow! I'm ready for spring too!
Thanks for popping in to see me.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia 😉
