Do you enjoy yard saleing? As much as I enjoy consignment stores and some thrift stores, I really am not that much of a yard saler (is that a word?). Specifically, I don’t often get up on Saturday mornings at the crack of dawn, head out with my cup of coffee and drive all over town in search of “the jackpot” yardsale. (As far as having a yard sale – we won’t even go there!) To me, it seems like a lot of effort – and gas – for a little payoff…but then again, I’m sure many could make similar arguments against thrift stores.
Nevertheless, this past weekend, our neighborhood had its first annual community yard sale. I was actually looking forward to it. I was really looking forward to alot of the neighbors being outside and a chance to meet some new folks….which I did! but I also came across a few real treasures – and all while walking!
At one home, this lady apparently had done some redecorating and had out quite a bit of home decor items….almost all of which were Pottery Barn and several things still in the original packaging. And she had the best prices ever! I picked up this Cafe Latte sign for fifty cents….it looks right at home in my butler’s pantry. (The butler’s pantry is a serving area between my kitchen and dining room….as for the butler, see below!!)
I also bought from her two khaki pillow covers – 25 cents a piece, a plate stand and a cute ivory aluminum vase/urn for another 50 cents! I’m telling you, my kind of deals:)
I don’t often buy clothes at yard sales but I came across an entire selection of men’s shirts – still in the dryer cleaner bags, name brand shirts (like Ralph Lauren) and Hubbie’s exact size. I couldn’t pass them up….and for 50 cents to a dollar! Woo Hoo.
So, here is picture of sweet Hubbie “modeling” one of his new shirt (he’s a good sport!)
Sure could use some paint on those walls…..but that is a whole other blog post!!
oh, how fun!!! 🙂 I love to hear about those kind of things!! 🙂 I don't get out to the yardsales for the same reasons really, but if I could, I would! The sign fits perfectly!! 🙂 Your husband was quite a sport knowing that you were going to put it on the blog!! 🙂 But, it does fit nicely! 🙂 Enjoy all your goodies!
I like yardsales, but don't go to them often. But it looks like you found some great deals. So, does the butler serve you grapes on a silver platter every night? 🙂 And more importantly, does he do the dishes?
Good for you! When our kids were small and we were just beginning to camp, we went to yard sales almost every Sat.Don't go much anymore… of course if it was on my street, I might! ha!ha! I did find some bargains at Beall's Outlet this weekend I plan to post about soon. Cute stuff for half price.
I like to go saleing when we camp. We go with a carload of people and have fun checking things out.
Awesome finds!!! I LOVE when I come across a yard sale like that. But I'm like you – I don't make a practice of getting up early to go to yard sales. Congrats on the great bargains! 🙂
PS: I like your new blog background!

Go Dad! Way to model that shirt! Ha-ha 🙂 Tell him I said he looks VERY handsome! 🙂
I have to say that although I LOVE to find a good deal, I really and truly can't get my rear out the door at o'dark thirty to go find neat stuff. Most good stuff is usually gone within the first couple of hours and I think Riley and I are still in our pj's and like, lounging around the house at that time 🙂 Either that or I am making our Saturday morning pancakes…new tradition around here.
Love you and can't wait to see you VERY soon!
Erica
I am not a yard-saler but you found some wonderful deals! 🙂 Hope your last treatment goes smoothly today. I'll be praying for you.
Don't you just love a good bargain!
Sounds like you found some great, useful things.
Your sign looks great on the wall and tell hubby I like his new shirt.
