Hello friends. Happy Monday! It is, technically, still Monday but way later in the afternoon than I would usually write a post. I have not had time today to get a post ready and considered “just skipping” it today. However, there have been a lot of visitors to the blog today (I’m sorry you missed a current post) and there were many kind and (oh so) encouraging comments over the weekend as well. I just wanted to quickly respond and say thank you to everyone. The blog friends here really are a daily highlight for me. I appreciate each and everyone who drops by regularly and all those who take the time to comment.
This afternoon I thought I quickly share a few things that brought me joy this past weekend. I even have a few photos:) Said photos are completely unedited. Just sayin.

A great meal out with friends is always a good way to start any weekend. It was a very pretty night and we have not been to this favorite restaurant in awhile. We used to go here often with my brother so the evening included some good memory moments for me, too. We did not eat outside this night but I do enjoy doing so. Do you? (Not everyone does…so I am always hesitant when dining with a group.)

A nature photographer I could never be! I tried (and tried!!) to get a photo of this butterfly. Which had the prettiest blue and yellow wings. But you cannot see those pretty wings because every time I took the photo, she closed her wings. I know nature photography takes patience and I thought I was being very patient. I only took about 50 photos. Nevertheless. But the front bushes seemed to be covered in butterflies this weekend. Every time we sat out there, we would spot a different colored one. They were definitely bringing me joy. As our those azaleas (the fuzzy pink bits in the photo)! Those are the azaleas I thought were dead but they have been working hard to bloom their best, even after a very difficult season!

The gala was a huge success…and huge highlight of my weekend!! There were over 660 people in attendance. I had no idea it would be so large! I am so sorry to say that I did not get a photo of my dress. (So many asked and I truly hate to disappoint). Truth be told, I had a bit of a “wardrobe fail” and did not end up wearing what I had intended and/or wanted to wear. I was very disappointed in my dress. I did, however, love my shoes. Well, the look of my shoes. In order to compensate for my “less than my best” formal dress, I decided to pull out my heels. Heels that have been relegated to the back of my closet for years and that I have kept because “I might need those one day.” I guess Friday was the that day. Or so I thought. Oh my heart….my feet are not used to heels. I used to wear heels all day, every day. Let me tell you….doing so is NOT like riding a bike. My feet were unimpressed with the return of said footwear and were screaming at me all night. I think I looked like a kindergartener in her mommy’s shoes when I walke out of there that night!!
Cute shoes aside, the evening was fantastic. The food was yummy (I had a salmon dish with a pink blush sauce). The speaker was very interesting. Ryan Bomberger. Have heard of him? The center shared some statistics, of course. Last year, there were over 200 babies born. And 120 salvation decisions!! The whole evening was so encouraging. I think I could get used to galas! Just need to get some new fancy (yet flatter) shoes!!

My peace lily had sorta stopped blooming. Not sure why and not exactly sure why it started blooming again. But blooming again it is definitely doing! Three blooms here and one more just popping out in the center. My houseplants definitely make me happy but this peace lily is probably my favorite. Shhhh – don’t tell. Having favorites is probably not allowed but I just love this plant. I have one other lily that used to be in another room. I recently moved into the same room (and not too far) from this one. And voila! Is that a coincidence? I dont’ know but I think we all just like having our friends close by!:)
A few other joy bringers this past weekend: a spring shower, fresh cut grass, a lightweight blanket on the bed…just enough for making mornings cozy because the weather is still so wishy-washy (it is supposed to be in the 30s tonight!), a beautiful handmade shawl from a friend (that I gifted to a newly widowed friend at church), and our first ice cream run of the season (I had salted caramel)!!
I hope all of you had a good weekend as well. Here’s to all the week ahead has in store. Thanks again for being here –
Oh yes – we are in between hot summer and cool winter so a lightweight blanket is just the ticket. I haven’t worn heels in so long, I don’t know if I could even do so!
Jennifer, it sounded like you had a wonderful weekend. Sorry about the wardrobe fail and the heels making your feet (and body) ache. Have a fantastic week.
Sounds like a lovely weekend, and I’m just imagining you looking wonderful in your dress and heels. How wonderful that so many babies were saved and hopefully given good homes.
Thanks for sharing . Have a good week.
Glad you had a lovely weekend.
The last time I went to a banquet with my husband, I wore heels and limped my way out of the ballroom that night. Then I had to wear them in 2021 when my son got married. That’s the last time heals have touched my feet 🙂 I’m definitely a tennis shoe, flip flop kind of girl. Flats for church or anything “fancy” these days. And, I’ll eat outside if there are no bugs and the wind isn’t blowing. 🙂
The butterfly picture is lovely even without the butterfly’s wings out- the color of the flowers and the pretty butterfly look so good together! I’m glad the gala was a success. I have not heard of the speaker you mentioned- I will look him up. The statistics are wonderful! I can see how it was an uplifting event and highlight of your weekend. I hope your week is going well!
Sounded like a marvelous event Jennifer. Heels look amazing but as a foot doctor once told me, they keep chiropodists in business. I haven’t heard of the speaker either but will do a search. I think your butterfly photo is delightful and hope your peace lily will bloom. Enjoyed my visit as always. Lovely post! Have a great week!
Jennifer, what a wonderful weekend you had! I’m so glad. Your butterfly picture was perfect. They can be a study all in themselves. It sounds as though the Gala was quite a success…so happy to hear about it.xx
The gala was, indeed, a huge success. And such a blessing!!
