Happy Monday friends! I hope everyone had a nice weekend. We had a nice mixture of weather. Saturday was a bit overcast but perfect for being outside most of the day. We spent the day at a local fall festival. (The photos are from the festival.) I got my steps in and bought some (beef tallow) moisturizer and soap (that smells amazing!) but, I have to say, there were just way too people for the day to actually be enjoyable. You simply follow the flow of the mases. Much like I imagine cattle must feel when they are being herded. Maybe Hubbie and I are just old, but we agreed that we can skip this event next year.
Interesting side note: this was the 50th anniversary of this particular festival. There were signs and banners recognizing year 50. My husband, a retired police office, worked the very first fall festival. Yep, fifty years ago:) He was remembering what a huge deal it was…and a lot of work! Goodness, where do the years go? I suppose, fifty years of one festival is more than enough – lol!
Yesterday, it rained all day. Just right for Sunday afternoon napping:) I don’t nap during the week, and I’m not even a huge fan of naps, but something about Sunday afternoons. And rainy Sunday afternoons?? Goodness, I can’t even fight it!! This morning, it is beautiful. Hello new Monday! I thought I’d start the week with a daybook entry. I’m taking a bit of an abbreviated version. Some of the prompts on the regular, and the tad longer, version can be a bit repetitive (as in, what I’m wearing). In my humble opinon. So, today…the short view. .
Outside my window. The sunshine is so pretty. I still see some puddles that need to finish drying up, but everything is so green. I think yesterday’s rain was refreshing for everything!! Some of the neighbors got creative on Saturday. Several porches and yards look ready for some Halloween fun. I believe the current temperature is 64 and I’m loving having the windows open!
Around the house. All is quiet. And tidy. Just the way I like to start the week. I try to tidy up on Sunday evenings and start Monday mornings with a fresh slate – and attitude. Sure, I have the typical chores that need to be done but nothing is staring me in the face, if you know what I mean.
On the to-do list. Maybe a load of laundry. I have not checked the status there. I probably should do a bit of dusting. But most of this week’s to-do list is outside the house. I have errands to run/things to take care of before the weekend….and we go on vacation. Yes, vacation again. Highly unusual for us but I’m looking forward to it. This trip has been on my husband’s bucket list for years and I’m glad it is finally happening. Clues as to where we are going: mopeds, onions (who knew), pink beaches, and shorts:)
On the menu this week. I am using up what is in the freezer. Errands this week will not include the grocery store…and I’m okay with that. What I am really want to make this week are some pumpkin treats. My mind has been focused on all things pumpkin. I’m wanting to get in the kitchen and see what kind of sugar-free and/or low carb treats I can create. That actually taste good! I am totally up for the challenge.
On my mind at the beginning of the week. As part of our morning devotions lately, we have been reading through Deuteronomy. In many ways, a look back, or a history review, for the children of Israel. Moses does not mince words in reminding them how often they rebelled. How quick they were to complain. And how, on multiple occasions, God was ready to destroy them. To create “a mightier nation.” (Deut. 9:14). But Moses intervened on their behalf. Repeatedly. Asking God to withhold judgement and to give the Israelites yet another chance. Moses not only loved the people he was leading but he prayed regularly, earnestly, boldly and faithfully for them.
Praying – petitioning God – for the same thing over and over can not only be frustrating but can also feel useless. This can be especially true when praying for someone you love. Or for someone living in disobedience. But Moses’ example reminded me that prayer, and especially prayers of intercession, are not only good but are also a privilege. As well, they are heard…and effective. If you need the encouragement today – stick with it, my friend.
That said, what are you thankful for this morning? I’d love to hear. Maybe it is something as simple as a sunny morning, a good’s night rest or that first cup of coffee today. But if you’re day looks a bit cloudy, or even stormy, I pray you find peace as we begin this new week. Thanks for stopping by, friends.
