Happy Wednesday. And the end of election season, for now. In my neck of the woods, election season (which seems to get longer and longer) is very tiring (and trying). I’m glad when it is over. If it is every really over. Ready to move one today…and to have a little Hodge Podge fun. Just now looking at the questions but, let’s see…..
1. Our November Hodgepodges always include a question related to gratitude. What is one small thing you’re grateful for today? Other than the end of election campaigns, ads and the sentiments that go with them, I suppose. I am thankful for our (relatively) new neighborhood park. Not only does it have a huge dog park, a really fun playground and multiple soccer fields, but it also has the best walking trails. I enjoy walking there every day so much more than the sidewalks along the road.
2. Chrysanthemums-pansies-burning bush-ornamental cabbage-camellias…your favorite in an autumn garden? Would we find any of these in your yard/garden this year? Pansies are definitely a favorite. I use them in the fall every year. This year, we had the hardest time finding the sweet pansies. There were none (not one) at our local Lowe’s, Home Depot or even Walmart’s garden center. It was so odd. Where were all the pansies?! (These were our early spring pansies.)3. If you could clear out or organize one physical space or mental habit before the year ends, what would it be? I would love to empty my Amazon cart. Why do I have all that “stuff” in there anyways? I would like to cancel my subscription to Prime but keep telling myself that I need to empty my cart first. Why is doing so such a challenge for me??
4. Brussels sprouts…love ’em or no thank you? Not a fan. I’ve tried (okay, maybe once) but they are a “no thank-you” for me.
5. It’s reassuring to know that__________________. God is in control. I know that might sound cliche, especially here during election season; however, what a wonderful truth. A truth that not only applies to politics, governments, and the state of our country, but just assuredly to our homes, our health and our daily lives. It is easy to feel helpless, fearful or even depressed with all that bombards us. But the reality that God is in control never changes.
6. Insert your own random thought here. Yesterday we went to see Sight and Sound’s production of Joshua. And we did go more than five miles from home! It was playing at the theater. Who knew?? It was filmed live and then made available for viewing on the huge screen of our local cinema. I, personally, thought it was better than being there in person. Definitely “the best seats in the house” where you could see everything:) And the ticket price was about 60 dollars less than a visit to Pennsylvania. But don’t get me started on the price of popcorn or a soda?? (I’d share my opinon but I would sound oh so old!)
Have a wonderful day my friends and other Hodge Podgers!! Check out the link-up here and see what other are needing to organize or clear out:)
I’m so glad the ads and texts and phone calls can (hopefully) end for the time being at least. I haven’t lived in NJ in ten years and have voted every year since in SC, yet I still get calls and texts from NJ. Ugh! I like your reassuring thoughts. I’ve been jotting them all down today as I read the HP and it’s giving me a nice list to look back on from time to time and especially when the country feels topsy turvy. I’m not watching any news today and am playing worship music instead. It’s good for the heart and mindset both : )
No news for me either, friend. Putting out my Thanksgiving things:)
Well here in California we won’t find out the results for another month which is ridiculous because ( here is where I show my age) it never used to be like that. By morning, we had the results.
Yes God is still on the throne and that comforts me.
Enjoyed your HP. I’m right there with you on the brussel sprouts!
Your new park sounds wonderful!
I always have random things in my Amazon basket. lol
How great to see Joshua in the movie theatre. Oh yes, the popcorn and soda is so expensive here too!
I love the sound of your neighborhood park, Jennifer. What fun! Like you, I am thrilled this election season is over due to the negativity of ads, all the signs, and the rudeness and intolerance of people. I agree with you on the topic of Brussel sprouts. Happy Wednesday!
