Happy Monday! And the last one of the month. The last chance to get a Monday morning daybook done for this month. Time to get going! I will jump right in and, as always, I will start with weather….
The Weather – has been ashamedly summer. Hot and humid. Last month I mentioned a heat wave (or heat dome) we were having. Well, no more mention of domes but it continues to be hot. But (much like June) the grass is still green. I suppose we are having just enough enough summer storms to keep things from turning brown but, oh my, it also just enough wet and a whole lot of heat that is making the weeds look like summer crops. They are obnoxious and seem to be unstoppable. I cannot imagine trying to be a gardener or a farmer around here. The weed control struggle is too real.
As I look outside my window – I am loving that crepe myrtle. I wrote in June’s daybook that I was waiting. And waiting. Just as I was about to give up, bam…it burst forth in beautiful blooms! Now I smile every time I look out the window or come around the corner when I’m driving home.
This morning, I am – making a list of the little things that I need to get done before I leave for a week away. The last few days I have been putting off (aka procrastinating) small chores and telling myself it would be best to do that “right before I leave.” For instance, the laundry. Cleaning the bathrooms. Even watering the plants. Well, the time of “just before I leave” has come and now I need to remember it all. Time to be making some lists!
Lately, I have been thinking about – the holidays. Can you believe it?? I can’t but it is true. I also mentioned last month (when I wrote I had been thinking about change) that there was a lot of change in my future. The future is now and, yes, there has been a lot of change. Big changes. There have been hard changes but also some exciting ones as well. A lot of these changes will impact our future. Especially our holidays and we have been discussing the holidays quite a bit. What will they look like this year? How can we embrace and/or make the most of different traditions and events? It’s a bit overwhelming, if I’m honest.
What I am wearing – all the summer clothes. Same thing I said last month. I mentioned dresses and, well, dresses are still a favorite. I bought three new ones during Prime Days. Don’t judge. I just love a pretty dress:) I will try hard to think of something new to say in this category next month!
Around the house – I still have out the patriotic/Fourth of July things. Sigh. I know it is still July but they really should be put away. See above the mentioned paragraph about procrastinating. I really thought I would around the putting those things away before I left. That is so not going to happen. It is hard to know what to put out in August as I will probably be ready to change things up again in September. I like seasonal decor but I am NOT one for changing things monthly. Should I let the red, white and blue stick around for three or four more weeks??
My To-Do List – well, laundry. Bathrooms. Water the plants. Well, you get the idea. I need to finish all the little things so I am ready to go on Wednesday. Have I mentioned that I am excited about my trip? My son and I are flying to California to see my brother. I will be gone a week. The temperatures are almost 20 degrees cooler. Yes, cooler. In California. Seventy degrees and sunny? Yes, I will take it. And I am very excited to see my brother again. It has been over a year!
And, from my camera – the single most random photo of the day. We went to the mall the other day. I haven’t been to the mall in months. Maybe a year? So, granted, I may be a bit out of touch but who knew there were so many varieties of Chanel perfume??
Well friends, that is about it for this month. I do plan to have a post on Wednesday. Perhaps I will join the Hodge Podge link-up but there will be something before there is a bit of a break. I hope you will stop by again and, of course, come back next week. I should be posting on schedule (whatever that exactly means) in August. Happy Monday to you and have a wonderful week!!
the weather is the same here…hot and humid. enough rain to keep the grass from turning crispy! LOL! I love me a house dress. nice and cool and very relaxing. I call it house dress because change into them when i get home from work in the evening. your crepe myrtle is beautiful! Was wondering if we would see it or not. The mall… I haven’t been to a mall in so very long. I don’t like crowds of people. Hope you have a wonderful week!
Enjoy your trip my friend.
We have the same weather, we are stuck in a heat dome. I am a gardener, it is hard to work outside in the humidity and with the bugs, they are thick this season.

Chores aren’t the most fun, but are, unfortunately, necessary! I say leave the patriotic up until Labor Day, LOL. After that, it might not be a great idea, kind of like the white shoes (who makes these rules?). We have had some cooler days this month, but we are currently experiencing a heatwave, with occasional pop-up thunderstorms. Again, I hope you have a great trip!
We will probably live in summer clothes here until late November. Central Texas always feels like perpetual summer, except for February, which is when we have winter, ha ha.
Have a wonderful time in California visiting your brother. Enjoy making those precious memories together. Safe travels .
