Hello friends! I am back:) I have actually been back, as in home, for about two days but am just getting back to blogging. I have been so touched by all the kind comments left on last week’s post. Thank you so much! I will say I had a wonderful time in California. Sunny Cali!! I plan to do a bit of recap of that on Monday but wanted to (somewhat quickly) get a Currently post done. I’m on a streak of having one of these posts each month so don’t want to skip it now. Ha. So, let’s jump right in for August’s Currently ideas. The rest of the link-up is here. As of late,
I am loving all the memories from my recent trip to California. It was not a super long trip (considering it is quite the trip to get there) but we packed a lot into our few days. It was great to spend time with my brother and to make fun memories with my son, Jordan, before he headed to new adventures of his own. Like I said, a recap is coming but, let me just say, I could get used to California weather. At least in the San Francisco area. My kind of weather, to be sure, and definitely something I was loving!!
I am looking forward to another trip. Who am I?? Not a long trip and certainly not as far away but Hubbie and I have been planning a few trips and chances to get away. It has been awhile since he has traveled and we are both looking forward to the opportunities. We are also looking forward to celebrating our anniversary next month. It is one of the “big ones”:)
I am scheduling what should be my last oncology follow-up appointment. Hopefully (and prayerfully) at the end of this month, I can shut the door on that “season of life” (for lack of a better word).
I am buying things for the guestroom. Or guest rooms?? There has been some rearranging and (a little bit) of redecorating going on around here. Nothing major but a bit of a refresh was in order and I am enjoying the process.
I am gearing up for…well, not for fall. Although I seem to be in the minority. Autumn inspired everything and all the nods to fall seem to be everyhwere I look. I was even watching church on-line this past Sunday (while I was in CA) and the pastor mentioned an upcoming meeting to discuss/reveal the fall itinerary for their church and ministries. No! It is only the first week of August. It is still pool weather. There are sun-drenched mornings to enjoy, lazy evenings to while away and plenty of ice cream runs to be made. I will hold onto summer (cling with all might) as long as I can. So hands over my ears – I CAN’T HEAR YOU – with all the talk about fall!!
If you are over there screaming “bring it on” with all the thoughts of fall…well, have your fun. All the pumpkin madness will be here before we know it. I will be the last summer girl standing. Channeling all the California vibes I can remember!!:) Thanks for stopping by. I hope everyone has a beautiful weekend ahead. Again, thank you for all your kind comments. I look foward to catching up over the weekend!!
Fall, Girl, it’s a billion degrees here in Florida, LOL. No thoughts of fall here, either. Wishing you a lovely day and looking forward to your recap. smiles
Ha…Linda! I suppose there are many who look forward to a bit of break in the heat:) Keep cool my friend!!
I enjoyed reading your ‘Currently’ post, Jennifer. Well, I am one of those who say bring fall on. Even with this respite from the heat and humidity, I want the crisp cooler air that autumn brings to us. Happy Friday!
Hasn’t this break in the humidity been wonderful, Robin? Virginia is feeling pretty nice right about now!:)
Welcome back, Jennifer! Those pansies at the top of the post are absolutely gorgeous. You have given me some inspiration for next year.
I’m delighted to hear that you enjoyed your trip to CA with your son and to visit your brother! Loved the picture and I look forward to hearing about your trip next week.
I will be praying along with you about your oncology appointment. May it be the last time you ever have to visit that department!
I’m afraid I am one of those who is ready for autumn. I’ve begun exchanging the summer lemon kitchen decor for a few bits of fall colored leaves and acorns in the hutch. I have a different “fall theme” in mind than pumpkins. I don’t have anything against pumpkins, mind you, but I just think it would be fun to toss in some apple decor if I can find some that I like.
Hope your weekend is wonderful, my friend. xx
Oh my Dianna..and I have still have patriotic things lingering about!?! I really need to get moving:) So glad you stopped by this morning!! I hope your weekend is wonderful as well!!
How fun to visit California and spend time with people whom you love dearly. I’m glad the weather was wonderful. Honestly, we’ve had some pretty great summer weather here in Ohio and I can’t decide if I’m ready for fall or not. There’s lots to love about this season- I’m enjoy produce from the garden and welcoming the sun as it ripens even more of the veggies on the vine. But there’s something beguiling about fall so I’m not dreading that either. And I’m fine with the almost in-between. Enjoying summer but looking forward to fall?? Not a bad place to be. Speaking of places, how fun to have more trips planned and some with your husband. I need to get my hubby on the travel bandwagon. However as long as he’s working (many more years) that is not likely to happen. Have a great one!
It sounds like you had a lovely trip. I agree, let’s enjoy summer properly before we start the slide towards winter! We have a week of unbroken sunshine forecast for this week which is great, especially as my son and family are heading off on their holiday in the UK today!
Wishing you the best of luck at your appointment x
I can’t wait to read about your trip to California! I’m glad you had a great time; is there anything like SoCal weather? I love fall, but I also love summer. I like these late nights that are still light, and the sounds of the season: cicadas, crickets, lawn mowers, kids playing outside…I could go on. It was good catching up here today, sweet friend! You’re looking fabulous! Prayers for your next oncology appointment. xoxo
Hi Jennifer! I didn’t realize you had a son in California 🙂 How fun to go for a visit. I am not on the “Fall” bandwagon. I’m still enjoying taking my girls to the pool, although it’s ridiculously hot here in Texas. I’m just not one for rushing seasons. I went to Hobby Lobby for the first time in months and it was full of Fall decor as well as CHRISTMAS! I hate the way they do that. By the time Christmas gets here, we will be sick of seeing it.
To me, Fall will be Sept/Oct. Not before.
Glad you’re back! Have a great week 🙂
