Happy Wednesday! Was not sure I was going to get a post up today. Low motivation and lack of mental energy. Sigh. But I wanted to pop on, if just quickly, to say a thank you (more on that in a minute). I had also wanted to join the Hodge Podge link-up but my answers will probably be brief. Actually, I think I will handle them in reverse order. Why not?
6. Insert your own random thought here. I am very grateful for the blogging community. I genuniely appreciate your kind thoughts and comments earlier this week. They really did bring encouragement. It is interesting – and so nice – to realize how impactful a group of people you have never met in person can sincerely be! I am also grateful for my “in person” friendships. Each one of them adds something both unique and beautiful to my life. One day last week was a tough one for me. I was grateful to be meeting with my “flock” friends. The ones that crochet and create things so beautifully and allow me to tag along. I simply wanted to be with friends and to get out of the house. But before I left, two of my dear friends were praying with me. And over me. I am so thankful for friends that pray.
That was my main objective for a quick post today. The rest of these answers will be short and sweet:)
5. Have you ever ridden a motorcycle? No. And I am very happy with that fact. Been to a Disney park? Yes. I have written about that a few times here on the blog. Here is one post. Met a celebrity? No. Also totally okay with that fact. Won a contest? I don’t think I have entered too many contests. Many years ago, at our former church (which was rather large), we were having a fall fellowship and there was an applesauce making contest. I had never made homemade applesauce but thought I would give it a try. I won!! No idea how but I was pretty excited! Interestingly, I think I have only made my own applesauce once or twice since then. Not sure why since I do love me some applesauce!!
4. When planning a trip, do you prefer big cities or smaller one? Which “of the off grid” towns listed (sorry, I’m not listing) would you most want to visit? I think I prefer a city, for sure, when I travel. If I was traveling abroad, I would probably lean toward bigger cities. Although I love the charm and beauty of smaller cities, towns and/or the countryside, I am not that adventurous. I would love to visit those type places but would need a group. Travel group support – lol!! Middlebury Vermont was on the list. I don’t know much about Middlebury specifically but I would love to travel to Vermont. To much of New England, truth be told. Maybe I have just watched too many Hallmark movies in my lifetime!!
3. Yesterday was National Give Something Away Day. Do you regularly give away or tend to accumulate? I am definitely not one to accumulate. We donate regularly but that does not seem the same as giving something to someone. I do try to share. For instance, when I bake. I enjoy baking for others. But, perhaps, I am not reading the question correctly.
2. Do you have a favorite mug? Most of my mugs I have bought myself. But I have a few that were gifted to me. Two of them would be my favorites (if I had a favorite). Both are from very dear friends. This one, was just given to me a couple of months ago. I love the color, the shape, the simple style and font. And I love the friend who gave it to me.
1. What is one characteristic you admire in others? Okay, I have two that are very important to me. One is punctuality. Being on time and respectful of time. I know things happen, of course, but to be habitually/regularly late is rather without excuse to me. The other is being trustworthy. I will admit, I have trust issues. Feeling that I can truthfully trust someone is not only so admirable but is a gift, in my opinon.
I could elaborate. And elaborate more but, like I said, short and sweet today. As always, I appreciate your stopping by. I so appreciate your comments. And I look forward to visiting your blogs later today or tomorrow!!
I enjoyed reading your responses to the hodge podge questions, Jennifer. For trips, I prefer small towns although having a big city nearby would be great. I have been to a Disney Park eons ago. I have ridden on a motorcycle once and really don’t feel the need to do it again. I’m not sure if you would call it a contest, but I have earned blue ribbons in the county fair for my stitching. Happy Wednesday!
Robin, that most certainly is a contest…and congratulations on your stitching ribbons! I’m sure once on a motorcycle is MORE than enough! Not a fan. Hope you are having a wonderful day my friend!
That is neat about winning an applesauce making contest! I’m glad your friends in real life are showing up for you and that you are finding some encouragement from your online friends, too (since I consider myself one of those :)). I would like to see Vermont as well. I liked Maine quite a bit but that was largely due to our proximity to the ocean while we were there. Vermont would not provide that but pictures of villages in it look charming and yes, very Hallmarky. Have a great day!
I’m glad you have a good group of real life friends to support you when you need that. I agree though, these online friendships can be a real encouragement too. I’ve been up through New England a few times, but have not spent any significant time in Vermont. It always looks so golden and I’m sure I’d enjoy it. Have a good day!
Jennifer, I so agree with your words of appreciation for your blogging community. I feel the same way and am so grateful for the interaction blogging provides at any time of day or night!!
Yes, traveling in New England definitely appeals to me. There is so much charm in the architecture, the flora and fauna, and the history.
I always enjoy all of the different answers on Hodgepodge day. I will have to tell you that the jars of applesauce immediately caught my eyes… So pretty and neat. I’ve never been to New England, but I sure think I would love to take a trip there. Isn’t it so neat how we can get attached to a simple cup. Have a wonderful Wednesday..
Having a good support system of family and/or friends is a HUGE blessing. I ‘m glad your friends were there for you with whatever is going on in your life.
I enjoyed your answers to the questions. I totally forgot to answer the one about winning a contest. I won a solo once in HS choir after we all had to audition. I can’t remember winning anything else. Oh wait…I won two raffles in the last few years: one was a wine basket and one was a Valentine’s wreath .
Hi Jennifer! Congratulations (way back) on the applesauce 🙂 I never win contests, but I did win two of the 3 categories one time in a chili cookoff. I won best tasting and spiciest, but didn’t win the overall best chili. My husband still complains about how rigged it was 🙂 When traveling I love to discover the little cities that look like Mayberry. But I also enjoyed Chicago when we visited once and other big cities for all the things they offer. In the small towns it’s fun to eat at the local diner, browse the hardware/dry goods store and find the old fashioned soda fountain and order something. So I guess you could say I love it all! These days I’m content to stay close to home 🙂
What a good list. And the struggle in motivation is relatable…
I too appreciate punctuality! LOL! I can’t stand to be late myself. I enjoyed your answers today even though short and sweet! LOL! Hope you are feeling more motivated in the days to come! Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Well, it looks like I’m a day late to the party, my friend. There goes punctuality against me. Actually, I did come by yesterday morning, but it was early, and I didn’t revisit until just now.
The blogging community can be so very supportive and it’s why I enjoy replying to comments when people take the time to read the blog and leave a comment. It does indeed build relationships.
If you ever are able to make a trip to New England, be sure to visit Maine. It’s such a beautiful state. That’s where our son and his family live. I’d move there in a heartbeat, but my husband isn’t fond of the idea. He prefers West Virginia. 🙂
…and I admire and appreciate you, Jennifer…your blog is sure makes me smile.
Hello! I love that you have your people there and here to lift you when you need it. This Blogging World is a blessing. And applesauce! Wow! Good for you!
I love that you answered them in reverse! The New England states really shine in fall… just saying… now would be the perfect time to plan a little trip for a few months from now!
Hi, Trusting people … I am struggling with that right now. I was hurt badly in 2012 by a friend who I trusted. I am very careful now, very careful. At this time I am going to have to trust God to trust a person I do not know very well. I have a stomach ache just thinking about it.
Happy Monday Jennifer 🙂 No 6? I totally agree with you. Getting out of the house is so important at the best of times. When feeling a bit low, even more important. For me it is a walk in nature with hubby. We are both retired and it makes it easier just to drop everything on a whim. I have only ever ridden a motorcycle once, as a child about 5 years old, and I was in the side car with my sister. It was so much fun but my mother, who was riding behind her brother, was absolutely terrified so that was the end of our side-car riding days 🙂 We once lived half an hour from Disneyland when our son was still in his stroller and as you might imagine we had many visitors. By the end of the two years I was ready for a break from Disneyland, lol! I haven’t been there in many, many years. Well, I think that’s all I am going to say as it will turn into an epistle. I loved reading your Hodgepodge and thank you so much for sharing such an interesting one my dear friend 🙂 Have a wonderful week!
Hello! I do hope that this week is going better. What an assortment of questions. ~smile~
I’m always hoping to find places that are off the beaten path. We lived in cities for years, but now we’ve been in a town (that calls itself a city) of about 14,000 for many years. I no longer enjoy the crowds and bustle of cities.
Have a wonderful week!

Your coffee cup is so pretty, and look just like summertime. I liked your answer to #3 on giving away. It’s nice that you don’t have an excessive amount. So many people are going through their things right now and sorting and organizing and giving away. I think that’s a wonderful thing to do.
A happy week to you.
~Sheri
Hey Sweet Lady, I just wanted to let you know that I miss you posting and that I am praying for you. xx
Blogging frienships are very special and I am glad to be a part of this friendly community.
When our children were little we did the Disney parks, and I managed some of the huge rides. Glad I did them but those days are ticked off now. I do enjoy travelling and visiting places but I think I prefer small places that have less people around. That’s not to say I don’t like visiting a new city as well. I don’t have a favourite mug but I am currently using one that was a present when I left work.
