The “how” questions of life. Like their sinister twin, the “why” question, the questions of “how” rarely have easy answers and can leave us feeling overwhelmed and discouraged. Too often, they immobilize us with fear and even hopelessness.
How will I handle it all?
How did I get here? How did it get like this?
How can I make sense of this? How can I move forward?
Oh, but there is another “how” found in scripture. Not a question but a statement of certainty….found in Isaiah 52:7.
“How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace, that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!”
How beautiful. The how here is used to express a great extent. So beautiful. Very beautiful. And used to describe feet!!:) The feet are not necessarily gorgeous but, more so, what they do. They bring good news and offer peace! These beautiful feet belong to those who are willing to come quickly (to come running) with an answer – a message of hope in whatever situation – Jesus Christ!
I do not pretend to have all the answers but I know the One who does. Christ can enable you, strengthen you and move you forward. Christ provides security and a firm foundation when nothing else makes sense. He not only will keep your head above water but can help you walk on the water. He offers peace in the midst of any trial and is the giver of gifts such as grace and mercy.
All Christians have beautiful feet! Or, at least, we should. We have the message – of salvation, of peace, and of hope. We must have our “feet shod with the preparation of the gospel….” at all times. Ready and willing to share the good tidings with those around us who are wondering “how”???

Great post, Jennifer!
One of the best “how did this happen” scenes is found in the film, “The Sand Pebbles”, at the end where Streve McQueen’s character is mortally wounded in trying to save missionaries deep in China.
There are time I wonder why the cancer thing happened to me, but that’s probably a question whose answer I cannot unerstand in this life. I have to meet it with an intentional faith and trust, every day, and hope it’s enough to get me through to tomorrow.
Or to the next hour.
Great attitude, Andrew. You are an encouragement to each of us here every week…thanks for taking the time to stop by, read and leave insightful comments!!
I’m working on having beautiful feet – literally and figuratively. =)
Yes…a pedicure every now and then is one of my favorite treats:) Best I can do for pretty feet!!
I hope my feet look beautiful to Christ and help me to stand firm in all circumstances. This post has really got me thinking thank you FMF #4
I have the same hope, Loretta! Feet that will be firmly planted….and that will follow where He leads!
So beautiful! Thank you for these words! I hope and pray my feet are faithful to Lord in bringing the beautiful gift of the gospel to others.
