Hello. Welcome back to the blog. Thank you to those who left comments on Wednesday’s post. Especially those who shared a bit of their own story. Doing so is always an encouragement and I genuinely appreciate it. I have also said a prayer for each of you as we recognize Mother’s Day this weekend. With that in mind, I thought I would end the week with a little more light-hearted look at Mother’s day. How ’bout a quick Mother’s Day This or That? I found this on-line as part of a group of games for kiddos to play with their moms. Moms fill out the answers and the children try to guess what their mom answered. In the past, we have had the moms join our Junior Church class for some Mother’s Day fun; however, we will not be doing that this year. But, cute idea. I will tuck it away for another year perhaps.
No game here. Just some fun choosing. My answers are in bold. I will try to keep commentary to a minimum but, no doubt, there will be some – lol. But I will end here…so let me just wish each of you a special weekend. However you celebrate, or don’t celebrate, I pray your heart is encouraged and that God gives grace where grace might be needed.
This or That: The Mom Edition
Wash Clothes or Wash Dishes – for some reason, I enjoy doing the dishes. These days, I prefer it over the dishwasher. Is it a phase??
Order Take-out or Cook at Home – we eat out but never order take-out. Can’t remember when (or if) we did so the last time.
Facebook or Instagram – I have neither but I had IG once and even recently considered starting it again. But that idea passed quickly.
Be a Host or Be a Guest
Coffee or Tea – I do love iced tea. Love it. But if we’re talking hot beverages, coffee would win.
Comedy or Action Movie – the lesser of two evils here. Truthfully, I would not watch either. Give me a period drama.
Camping or Cruise – I can’t imagine ever camping. Or thinking it is a vacation.
Netflix or Amazon Prime – (sigh)
Wake up Early or Sleep in Late
Craft or Bake – definitely think my crafting era as ended.
Girls’ Night Out or Family Night
Pizza or Burgers – I enjoy a good (veggie) burger from time to time, but given a choice, I will always pick the pizza!
Carpet or Hardwood – odd way to end, but I didn’t make this:) We have both. Hardwood is no fun to clean and carpet is cozy. I like cozy.
I was surprised how different my answers were compared to what they would have been a few years ago, or certainly when my children were younger. Not only do seasons change, but I change. I used to really enjoy crafting. Not so much these days. I also used to enjoy hosting. That has definitely changed. And the whole dishwashing thing? I almost find it relaxing. What is that all about? Like I said, life changes. I just found them interesting. Anyhoo, pick one or two (or the whole thing) and let me know what you would choose. Again, have a lovely weekend!!
Happy Friday, Jennifer! I’m with you when it comes to washing dishes. When we redid our kitchen several years ago, I had it offered to put in a dishwasher, and I opted for cabinet space instead of the dishwasher. I find having my hands in the warm water relaxes me…especially noticeable if I’ve been tense about something. 🙂
I would always choose tea over coffee though. Coffee is just something that I’ve never acquired a taste for.
We don’t do take-out either…probably has something to do with our location to restaurants. By the time we would drive to pick up the take-out and then drive back home, the food would be cold. lol
And I’m always for waking up early. 🙂 My mom used to say that I could get up and have half a day’s work done before she had her first cup of coffee. lol
Praying for you, my friend. xx
I agree on a few of these with you. Also agree that several of my answers would have been different a few years ago. I think it’s neat that some interests and views on things (inconsequential ones especially) change as we get older/life circumstances are different, etc. We are big on ordering out- I like the break from making meals but we usually prefer to do our eating at home so voila- take out solves both of those goals :). I love hardwood- I may not be cleaning it well, though, because I don’t spend a lot of time doing that task, lol. Am with you pizza and being a guest and I also don’t have FB or IG. Have a great weekend!
I did play along, Jennifer. Wishing you a beautiful Mother’s Day.

I’m playing catch up as I was in Williamsburg attending a 2-day stitching event. It was such a wonderful time.
Wash Clothes because I can do other things while the machine does its thing.
Cook at Home or Eat Out – the only time we do take out is for the local Chinese place. They don’t offer dining in.
Instagram – I don’t have a Facebook account. I basically share my cross stitch stuff via Instagram with snippets of life.
Be a Guest because hosting isn’t in my wheelhouse.
Coffee or Tea – I pick both.
Comedy or Action Movie – it depends on my mood. My only ask is there be not a lot of swearing.
Camping or Cruise – NEITHER ONE
Netflix or Amazon Prime – NEITHER ONE
Wake up Early
Craft – I didn’t inherit the baking or cooking gene.
Girls’ Night Out or Family Night — BOTH
Pizza or Burgers – BOTH
Hardwood with a few throw rugs by the entries and bathrooms.
Jennifer, happy Monday! And what is it about laundry. Maybe it’s the sorting or drying and hanging and folding and putting it all away neat and tidy? I don’t know, but it’s a rhythm I enjoy. It’s satisfying.
Not sure if I’d feel the same way if I had a whole bunch of kids around, but for the two of us, it works.
