I typically start these daybook entries with “Happy Monday,” but, look at me, putting a daybook out on Friday! Hard to believe, this month will quickly be coming to an end. There are only a few “posting” days left and, well, better late than to completely miss it this month. I am on a role with a monthly daybook entry. That said…Happy Friday! I hope it has been a good week. I did get my vacation photos posted (here) and thank you to everyone who left such nice comments. Posting a vacation blog like that somewhat reminds me of the days when folks would pull out a wheel of slides to show you every mile of their road trip! (If you know what a wheel of slides is….you might even be older than I am!) But, moving on. Let’s get this post done. Lately…
The Weather – has been bit all over the place. One day it is quite warm. Then, it feels like fall. And next week? Forecasts are back in the 80s. Rather typical fall weather here on the east coast. I have not really noticed many leaves changing but fall is, for sure, right on the doorstep. After next week, I don’t think there will be too many more days that feel like summer. Believe or not, I’m rather ready for fall:)
As I look outside my window – everything is looking very green. The yard is growing a lot (almost like it is spring time!) Not sure when the cutting season will be over, but it will not be any time soon. At least, not around here. A few porches have pumpkins and a look for fall, but, honestly, not that many. I’m sure when the calendar turns to October, there will be more. I have to admit, we are in the bare porch crowd. But, hopefully, that will change tomorrow. All should be looking nice for fall:)
This morning, I am – grateful for our trip. We had such a good time! I’m also grateful that we are not on the ship this weekend. I heard the New England weather is less than ideal. Especially on the water. We did have one rocky day while on our vacation, but I am thankful that I never felt poorly. I do wear a patch. Not sure if the patch is the secret (would I feel sick without it?) but I will keep wearing one whenever I am near the water!
Lately, I have been thinking about – change. Changing seasons. Life changes. And, well, change in general. I usually wake with the sun. Just a few months ago that was nice and early (just the way I like it). Lately, the sun has not showing up in our bedroom until 7:00 or so. At first, I balked. But, I’m learning to simply roll with it. To not only adjust but to appreciate the change. To enjoy a new rhythm. To be grateful that I have the luxury to do so. I just wish I could both adjust and appreciate other changes as easily. Too often I resist when it is not necessary. Other times, I am cranky (and/or sad) when change occurs. Change is inevitable. Not all change is bad. But, my attitude with it is definitely a work in progress.
What I am wearing – well, today – a cardigan. Of course, I have to take it on and off multiple times throughout the day. And, tomorrow, I’ll be back to short sleeves. I’m ready for sweater weather and for just a change in my wardrobe in general.
Around the house – everything is at it’s autumn best! The scarecrows and pumpkins are all in place. The cozy throws and cute pumpkin pillows are out. And the house just looks nice. The fall colors compliment my home and it always looks its best this time of year. And, well, the cute scarecrows just make us all happy! My husband loves the fall decor almost more than I do, which keeps me at task when the job starts to get long. And, it definitely starts to get long. But…it is done. Hooray!
From the kitchen – will, hopefully, be some pumpkin treats soon. My daughter brought me some pumpkin cinnamon rolls. Ah.maz.ing. Now I’m inspired to do a little pumpkin baking myself. Not cinnamon rolls (that is above my pay grade)…but still lots of great options. One thing not to be found in my kitchen is even one of the yummy pumpkin flavored cereals that I look forward to this time of year. I went grocery shopping yesterday and rather had my heart set on some pumpkin breakfast goodness. But there was not a box of fall-flavored cereal to be found. I was so disappointed. It is the season, right?? Sigh.
My To-Do List – work some magic on the front porch. Create something pumpkin-y in the kitchen. And, then, mop the floors. (You would’ve had to read Wednesday Hodge Podge post to appreciate that one!)
And, from my camera – (no surprise…)

Happy Friday, Jennifer! I am loving the cool mornings. I am ready for the consistent fall temperatures. I am attending a stitching event tomorrow and looking forward to that. Yum on the pumpkin cinnamon rolls. Have a wonderful weekend.
