Happy Monday! And welcome again to my blog. I cannot believe it but, I just checked, and I don’t think I got a daybook entry done for the month of July. I’m so disappointed with myself. I was on a streak with these monthly posts. And I almost had decided to skip it for August. I’m short of time with this week but I’m going to try and get one finished and in the record books. Renew that streak. Once I’m done here at the computer, I have a to-do list of odds and ends to complete before I go out of town tomorrow. I’m looking forward to a week away, but…first things first. Let’s get this post done. Lately…
The Weather – has been hot. Even more than that, it has rainy. We have had (almost) daily storms. I feel like I am living in Florida! (My dad would be oh so happy. His dream was to live in Florida. Sadly, that did not happen for him. Good motiviation for me, though, to make those dreams come true. Don’t assume you have “all the retirement years” to make things happen. Just sayin.) Back to the weather, it has been hot but not unbearable. Just summer. I’m okay with that!
As I look outside my window – the crape myrtles are beautiful!! Ours is probably the prettiest it has ever been:) I also see our neighbor’s new car when I look out the front window. I’m a teeny envious. Where is our new car?? I mentioned a few posts back that we found a car on-line that we like AND we can afford, and that we were having it shipped here. We had so hoped it would arrive before I left for the week. I’m not sure that is going to happen. Sigh. I’ve been tracking its travels here. It started in Cleveland and has been across Ohio, through New York and down through Maryland. But is not here yet. That shipper should have followed Google Maps better – lol!!
This morning, I am – grateful to be feeling better. I was a bit under the weather last week. Not sure where that came from nor why it took several days to pass, but I’m glad to be feeling myself again. No one wants to go away with stomach woes!
Lately, I have been thinking about – what to pack for our vacation next month. I know the weather has the potential to be a bit all over the place. Cool mornings. Rainy. Windy?? Warm afternoons. Lots of layers are suggested and, I suppose, make sense. But that just makes for so many pieces of clothing. And then there is dinner attire. I’ve been putting ideas and options out on the guest room bed. It is already way too full. I like to pack light. My hubby? Not so much. He’s already talking about paying to take another suitcase. Oh no you don’t. Typcially, I would just offer to put his extra (probably never to be worn) items in my luggage. Not sure that is an option this trip. Yes, I have been thinking about this whole packing thing a lot lately. Quite a lot.
What I am wearing – a lot of things on repeat. Trying to keep it simple and not pull from the things I might want to pack. Why? I dunno but why risk staining or having to send something to the dry cleaner that I might need soon? Silly, but true.
Around the house – things are looking a bit neglected, if I’m honest. A good dusting is really needed but that is not going to happen this week. Last week, my stomach really hurt and was a good excuse for putting off some of my least favorite chores. This week, it really shows. Good thing I am leaving tomorrow.
From the kitchen – there will be lots of Hubby’s favorite and easy meals. I am making spaghetti tonight. He can have that one other night while I am gone. He will cook for himself the rest of the week. He does not mind doing so but what he calls a meal and what I consider a legitimate meal are not exactly the same. You do you, sweet hubby!:)
My To-Do List – includes cleaning the bathrooms. Dusting can wait. Bathrooms?? Not so much. I need to finish up my Junior Church lesson for next week as I, most likely, will not give that much thought while I’m gone. I have some other loose ends to wrap up but should be able to do so before dinner. Most of the week, honestly, just looks like “have great fun with friends”!! What is on your to-do list this week? Anything fun on the calendar?
And, from my camera –

I stepped outside to take a picture of my pretty crape myrtle…and do you spy with your little eye what I see deep among those leaves? How can that possibly be?? Oh my, but thanks much friends for stopping by. Thank you for your comments last week and for the birthday wishes for my brother. I will be sure to pass them on! Here’s to a wonderful week ahead!! Fingers crossed I can get my Hodge Podge post done for Wednesday…..
I’m glad you are feeling back to normal and are getting ready for your trip. Dusting can always wait!! That’s my rule! I do try to do a little bit of cleaning/tidying each day so it doesn’t pile up on me, but that doesn’t always happen. Packing isn’t easy when the weather is so unpredictable these days. Good luck!! Keep us posted as you can! Peace!
