Happy Monday friends! I hope it was a nice weekend for everyone. Hard to believe we are closing in on the end of another month! Yes, we have one more Monday but, with this being the final week, I thought I would get a daybook entry done for the month. I try to include at least one each month just for looking back and seeing how the month’s went back. Although, I will admit, I don’t often go back and read the past ones. Perhaps I should do that one day. I have been considering a different format but cannot settle on one that I really like. Or that I like anymore than the one I currently use. So, for today, let’s stick with what has been working just fine:)
The Weather – has been nothing short of beautiful. Spring in all its glory!! No sign of pollen yet but, I have to admit, I am not an allergy sufferer and I tend to just accept pollen as spring’s confirmation. Today it is very overcast and a bit drizzly but, somehow, I enjoy these types of mornings in spring just as much. I know a bit of rain before tomorrow’s sunshine only makes springs’ blooms that much showier!!
As I look outside my window – everything is budding. The (somewhat stinky) bradford pears, the red maple trees that line the street and other early budding trees. Why the name of the popular pink ones is escaping, I don’t know. But they are still oh so pretty. The grass is just starting to green up. It has a bit to go but the little signs indicating lawn treatments have been applied are popping up all over the neighborhood. Not much else is out of the ordinary as I look out the window.
This morning, I am – enjoying the cozy feeling created by the thick cloud cover. I am mentally sorting through my week and looking forward to a rather “routine” week. I am also rejoicing with a friend over the birth of her first grandchild a few days ago. He was a couple weeks early and a peanut of a thing but everyone seems to be doing well. My cutie-patootie little friend, in NC, should become a big brother any day now. Another sweet little one to steal our hearts. Truthfully, my heart fills full this morning.
Lately, I have been thinking about – babies and new little ones. About joy. About the glimpse of life, unfettered with worry, seen in the easy laughs and unashamed delight of little children. They give me pause to simply relax, let go and enjoy the smallest things in life. There is so much to enjoy and to take delight in and I have to admit that I often do not. I’m sure there is a spiritual lesson here but I’m not even really thinking that deep. I just want to look for, notice, savor and enjoy all that is delightful around me! With fresh eyes and an open heart. And maybe even with a laugh every once in awhile. (I don’t laugh much…but I can work on that!!)
What I am wearing – a few new spring dresses. By spring, they are lightweight but long sleeved. Perfect combination. It is no secret that I love dresses and, by winter’s end, I am so missing wearing dresses. Cute dresses. But the time has finally returned for dresses….and I am one happy camper:)
Around the house – it is quiet. Everyone is out and I have the house to myself for a bit. This is when I enjoy being at the computer. Yes, I really should get these Monday blog posts done on Sunday (or even before?!? I don’t know about that) but I just enjoy the whole process so much more on quiet mornings to myself. Even after blogging or working on other things at the computer, I enjoy the quiet of the house. I enjoy music and/or other noise eventually, but a chunk of quiet is really quite nice.
My To-Do List – includes finishing up our taxes. I do them for us. I use TurboTax and simply fill in the blanks. It is usually simple and painless. Relatively painless. Of course, this year there is one line that is giving me fits. I have entered the amount straight from our tax documents; however, the computer says I’m not allowed to put that number. But it will not allow me to adjust it. Grr. I do not know how to fix what they determine to be errors. I am no accountant. I simply fill in the blanks. But today I will have to find a solution somewhere, even if it requires a phone call. Which I hate. I probably could have resolved this earlier but I so procrastinate when it comes to asking for help. I will stall and waste so much time before actually asking for help. My husband, on the other hand, has no problem asking for help. If we go into a store looking for an item we are unfamiliar with, he accosts (ok, kindly approaches) the first salesperson in view. Which irrates me because I am sure, given time, I can find it myself. And this scenario is repeated more times than I would ever admit.
And, from my camera. I am wondering why there are not more beautiful spring photos? Pictures of all these blooms. I usually take plenty but, just now looking at my phone, and there is not a one. Shame on me. But I do have these meme/ecard/whatever you call it that I received from a friend that just made me laugh. I suppose you would have to enjoy yarn fun with your friends to really appreciate…but, nevertheless, enjoy the smile. Have a great week. And I hope you will stop by again later in the week. I plan to blog on Wednesday and Friday this week! Take care, friend.
Reading your daybook made me feel happy! Thanks for sharing!
So glad you stopped by, Monica! Thanks!!
Like you, I don’t like to call when having a computer-related kind of problem. Had an issue just this morning, but patience and poking at it differently finally gave me resolution and I think I’m good.
It’s true that we have to keep learning all of our lives because the world does not stand still for those of us who don’t like change.
Oh, glad I’m not the only one Barbara. And, I resolved it. With a text:)
I use TurboTax, too! I find it to be pretty easy to navigate though they’ve changed it this year and seemed to have dramatically increased the price? But I do think it’s a good product. I wish eliminating the incoming tax would gain traction! It’s not gonna happen so I guess I’m thankful for TT! That’s neat that many of your friends are grandparents. Such an exciting time, I would imagine! Hope your Monday is a good one!
Oh to eliminate income taxing! Wouldn’t that be brilliant!?? I did notice the huge price increase..but after they helped resolve my problem, I will be grateful! Glad you stopped by…as always:)
You almost made me want to wear a dress, but I just can’t do it! I love the idea of pretty dresses though 🙂 And I use Turbo Tax too. Not sure how my husband can lose a job and we still owe taxes, but we are taxed to death in this country, so no surprise, I suppose. We are the opposite of you and your husband 🙂 I will ask for help right away in a store, and he would rather wander around aimlessly, determined he doesn’t need help. Drives me crazy!
Have a great week 🙂
Your post today made me happy, my friend. Your writing is beautiful, and I felt peace and contentment in your words. Have a cozy evening!
What a fun post! Would the pink bloom trees you were thinking of happen to be Redbuds? Mine is full of buds…I pray that it warms up and they come out in full bloom!
That little guy is so so cute!
I also enjoy a quiet house! It’s so peaceful and calming to me.
Have a great week, Jennifer! xx
So you like to crochet? What do you make? No offense, I hate the Bradford pear trees, they give me an instant headache when I walk past them and I think they stink! But, they are pretty to look at! I enjoyed your post 🙂
