Happy Monday! As I look back at last months’ daybook entry, I started it with “it is another bitter cold but happy Monday….” Well, what a difference a few weeks can make! Hallelujah:) Actually, it was only been seven days ago since we were watching for yet another winter blast and, while we did not get much snow, there was freezing rain, delayed school openings and very grey skies (such thick fog). Less than a week later and it is glorious! My window is open, the sun has been beautiful all day (I am typing this on Sunday evening) and the forecast for the next few day is for all things wonderful. But, if I am going to discuss the weather, I might as well jump right into the daybook….
The Weather – of late has made my heart happy! There is nothing but blue skies in the forecast. Well, until Thursday…and that is when we have family coming into town. We will not see them on Thursday as that is the beginning of their school trip to DC. They have a memorial tour scheduled for that evening. I really hope the rain will skirt pass our nation’s capitol and they can enjoy their trip without getting drenched. Their group is packing in a lot in the short amount of time they are here!
As I look outside my window – the sun is just starting to set. Dusk is such a pretty time of day. Almost as lovely as the morning’s first rays. It is seven o’clock and, yes, the sun is still up. Kids are outside playing. I see several folks walking their dogs. Such a nice evening. I know people have lots of opinions on daylight savings time. Oh, but I do like these sun-dappled evenings.
This morning, I am – hoping I am able to pass a kidney stone. Too much information, I know. But it is definitely what is on my mind.
Lately, I have been thinking about – spiritual gifts. All believers have been given a spiritual gift. And we are expected to use it. Our spiritual gift can be seen as a responsibility and I believe we will be held accountable for how we have (or have not) used the gift we’ve been given. It can be rather humbling. The enemy wants to discourage me. Even more, he is constantly trying to distract me. But I do not want to be untrustworthy with the what the Lord has given me.
What I am wearing – pretty spring dresses. Well, that is what I wore yesterday to church. Could it actually be time to put away the heavier skirts and tights? Don’t get me wrong, I love tights season (when it comes to my wardrobe) but I certainly did enjoy pulling out a dress from the spring-y side of my closet!
Around the house – I am thinking it is time for some bunnies. I rather like the look of things around the house as they are just now. Pulling out the bins and finding just the right spot for each bunny seems like a project. Well, it is a project. But,
I would feel sad if I did not bring out the bunnies. Will it get done this week? That remains to be seen…but it certainly feels like bunny weather:) Oh I think I will add a bunny photo with this post!
My To-Do List – is full of the ordinary household chores. Water the plants. Laundry. I already changed the linen…taking off the cozy flannel sheets. Crisp cotton ones are spring’s coziness. I have Bible study this week. I am meeting with my crocheting friends (although I retired my crochet hook) and I hope to get a pedicure. Hooray.
And, from my camera – not the prettiest photo, I admit, but it is a slice of birthday cake shared after the party. Our neighbor turned 40 yesterday. She had quite the time celebrating. There was so much cake. This slice is a fudgey cake (more like a brownie) but there was also red velvet. Both were part of the large cake at the party. She also had a lemon cake at home. She also sent home the cutest “party favors” or gifts for the guests. But the thing that really surprised me (and I am going to completely show my age here) was a small card included with the “favor” (is that adults call take home gifts?) Along with her thank-yous for coming, she included a QR code for viewing photos from the evening. A QR code? I thought folks just texted those to another. I shared them on social media. I dunno. I remember a family wedding (back in the day) when each table was given a polaroid. Guests were asked to take photos during the reception and then the cameras for the bride and groom to develop later. Oh the fun of polaroids!! I found a stray polaroid in my office closet awhile ago. It was an underwater one?!? I have no idea (whatsover) where I used it or where it came from. I also have no idea where I would get that thing developed. If I was so inclined. Obviously, I have not missed those photos.
Well, thanks for coming by the blog today. And for reading my daybook entry. I hope each of you have a wonderful week ahead!! I’m looking forward to visiting your blogs later today!
What a wonderful daybook entry to read this morning, Jennifer! The weather has been fantastic of late. Last week, we had so many days beginning with dense fog, it was nice to wake up to blue skies today. That slice of birthday cake looks tasty. Interesting about providing a QR code to see pictures of the event. I guess that is the direction people are going. I won’t put out the bunnies until closer to April. Since you mentioned the possibility of rain in Thursday’s forecast, I hope it waits until late evening. Have a marvelous Monday!
The fog was crazy last week…so nice to have bright blue skies this morning!! Thanks for visiting today, Robin! Enjoy your week:)
You have inspired me, Friend! It’s time to bring out the bunnies! I think I will do that this afternoon!
I suppose that means I better get a move on as well!:)
Oh, what you said about spiritual gifts.. yes and yes. I am thinking on this here and there and you are so right. Amen.
Help us, Lord,
Oh, my friend….. a kidney stone is no fun! I pray in the name of Jesus, Lord, Help her pass this!!!
I love spring dresses!
Have a fantastic week!!!
Chrissy, thank you for the prayers. You are sweet!! I am feeling much better today. Thanks for stopping by the blog!!
I hope your stone has passed. I actually stopped reading your post when I read about your stone to text a friend whose teenage daughter needs to pass one. I texted her to ask her how her daughter was doing (there was talk of surgery if it doesn’t pass on its own). So thanks to your stone (and you sharing about it), I reached out to my friend (not that it makes your stone worth it!). I hope your pain isn’t too bad. I’m glad your weather is and has been nice. Our day today is beautiful. Perfect even. What a treat! A birthday party full of cakes?? I can get behind that! Funny about the QR code- I wonder if that will become a new “thing” in terms of sharing photos. Have a great day!
Maria – so glad I could be of help:) Hope you are having another pretty day. It sure is here on the east coast!
Here is to passing that kidney stone! The sun is shining here as well and I am loving that extra hour of sunshine as well. Hope you have a lovely time with family.
I agree, Hena…and thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. Always good to hear from you –
I have put out my bunnies. I do think they add a touch of spring. The weather has been downright gorgeous. As for the time change, I saw a map of how divided the country is on which time should reign supreme. I don’t think we are coming to any solutions or changes anytime soon. Now if you asked me this morning when I had to get up if I liked it I didn’t say no, but whole heartedly wanted to sleep in but I have responsibilities that call for an early rising. I do LOVE the long sunny evenings, so I am a fan even though it is an adjustment.
Sorry about the kidney stone. Those are horribly no fun. I had one once but I really don’t think I ever passed it…I just think it settled into a new home inside me. Not fun to think about.
Enjoy the spring.
Yes, Sandy…enjoy the spring!! Isn’t it grand! Hope you are having a good week…as pretty as it is up here, a bit futher north!:)
