Good Monday morning! Hello March…and Good-bye to February! Our shortest month of the year did seem rather long and I one hundred percent blame the weather. As I type this, it is absoutely beautiful outside. Oh, but I remember February. The brutal cold. The blizzards and record snowfalls for so many of us around the country. The biting wind. And snow that still has not completely melted because the snow piles were just that huge. Oh, I remember. I am more than happy to turn the calendar page, although the forecast is teasing (some might say tormenting) us with some predictions of more snow. Blah, blah, blah. I’m not listening – lol!
Before we get too far into March (with its longer days and warmer weather), I thought I would do a quick look back at February. I did January “by the numbers” so maybe a Little Letters look at this past month:)
Dear snow plow workers – thank you for all the hard work this past month. Old man winter kept you busy but, in my neighborhood and my neck of the woods, you did a great job. I am sure there are always plenty who will complain but we were grateful to have clear and passible streets every day. I will also add a thank you to whomever our HOA hired to clean our sidewalks. They also did a great job. I am so thankful my husband does not have to do all of that work!
Dear neighbors – thank for you all the help with the extra shoveling during the storm…especially getting my son’s car off of the ice where it was stuck. It was late. And dark. And oh so cold. We were so grateful to see all of you come out and help us. We could not ask for better neighbors!
Dear Lena – my right hand (wo)man every morning in Junior Church. How would I make it through each lesson, game and/or craft without your help? I so enjoy serving alongside you!
Dear Old Towne Alexandria – thanks for another fun evening. Oh sure it was chilly but those tree-lined streets never disappoint. And covering the trees in hundreds of white lights? Well, that was pretty magical. Who ever had that idea…kudos to you! We cannot wait to come back in the spring!
Dear ENT doctor – thanks for all your help. Thanks for being so patient as you walked me through the procedure of nicking a hole in my eardrum. I’m not gonna lie, but I was a bit skeptical (and nervous). But it was okay. I appreciate your help with greatly improving my hearing and my ear pain.
Dear ear infection – you almost won. At least, it seemed like it for awhile. I thought my hearing loss might be permanent. But, you did not win. I will admit, though, you are a strong foe!
Dear local consignment store – thank you for helping me make money out of things I no longer need. It is a phenonom that still somewhat amuses me. I gather things that are no longer serving me and/or might simply be taking up space in my basement. I bring them to you and, within days, you are regularly adding money to my account. All I can do is thank you.
Dear Downtown Wharf – you were stunning on Saturday!! The day was spectacular and just walking along the marina, admiring the yachts and, actually, being outside without a coat insight was exactly what my soul needed. The lunch we enjoyed was perfect for my body as well:) Lunch was at a new to us spot, Kinfolk, and did not disappoint. We sat on the enclosed patio but halfway through our meal they lowered the massive floor to ceiling windows making lunch almost el fresco. In February!! I was one happy girl and we will definitely be back to visit you!
Dear Acadmeny of Arts performers – you are impressive! The stage at the Museum of the Bible is not massive but the way you make a story come alive is really amazing. We saw your performance of Joseph: God Meant it for Good…and I was captivated. Thanks so much for using your talents to share the gospel and for making the gospel come to life!
Dear Pam – this semester’s Bible study leader. You do such a wonderful job. You put so much prep, research and effort into each week’s lesson. I have learned so much and I know many of the other ladies have as well. You certainly have the gift of teaching and we have all benefited from it these last weeks. Hard to believe it is almost over – sigh.
Dear Bread Museum Bakery & Cafe – you are not a museum at all. Tricky job with that name of your coffee shop. Nevertheless, you were a delightful find. I enjoyed lunch with friends there one afternoon after Bible study. You are tucked away in a small strip of businesses. Very unassuming but such a cute and buzzing atmosphere inside. And my lunch was yummy. But I didn’t even try a coffee…will definitely have to return.
Dear Karen – thanks for a wonderful afternoon over lunch. It was so good to see you again. You are a blessing, dear friend.
Dear morning sun – thank you for your faithfulness. For the streams of light that cover our home in a smile every morning. You start my day with warmth and coziness. My plants love it as much as I do. I let them take turns on the kitchen table soaking in the first of your rays each day. I’m not sure why everyone is not a morning person!?
And I will end where I always do….
Dear blog friends – I am so grateful that you come by this space of mine so regularly. I appreciate your comments. The ones that make me smile, or even laugh. And the many that so often encourage me. I look forward to reading them all each week. I hope each of you have a wonderful month ahead. We’ve no idea what the next four weeks will hold but I pray March will include an unexpected blessing or two for each of you. Happy March to you all of you!!
what a fun post! I love my ENT who did my salivary gland procedure, she is a gem!!
I enjoyed reading your post and your letters- so creative and fun! You’ve had a month with ups and downs (probably most of us could relate though our ups and downs would be different); I like how you are able to see the positive within the negative and offer commentary that is both a truthful reflection of the events and done so in a manner that is enjoyable to read. I love the picture of the sun hitting the plant. And I love that your hearing has been restored. Yes, that infection tried but it failed. So glad the doctor had an effective treatment even though that required more than a bit of trust on your part. Have a great Monday, friend!
What a sweet post! I love this so much. I’m loving that the weather is turning from winter to spring this month! I know you do too; the sunshine has felt amazing lately, right?
I’m with you, Jennifer, more than happy to turn the page.
And you’ve shown us how to do it well, with gratitude and appreciation – and speaking (or writing!) it right out loud.
Happiest Monday to you, dear one.
I enjoyed reading your little letters to February. I will be the first to admit to complaining about the lack of snow removal on my road. But I am thankful for PT I had for my knee (even though it didn’t help fully), good neighbors, fun stitching outings, and a warm home. Happy March, Jennifer!
What a lovely post.. much to be thankful for.
Hi,
Oh sun, yes, thank you. I love the photo of your plant smiling in the sun.
Happy March!
Oh, I so enjoyed this post. I love your outlook. So, encouraging. 🙂 Blessings.
Hi Jennifer. I’m late to the game today. I started in on work this morning and kept at it for the biggest part of the day today.
I loved this post! I enjoyed reading how these different places and people have been used of the Lord to bless you. Such a sweet idea. xx
How wonderful that your ear issues/hearing issues have been improved. And that your neighborhood was so well covered by the snow plows and folks shoveling the snow. Surely by now you are beginning to see signs of spring. We set a record high this afternoon with 87*. I think we are stepping right into summer.
Happy March!!
Leslie

What a lovely and refreshing way to look back at February, in a collection of letters. I really enjoyed reading all of them.
