And it’s Wednesday! And the first one of the month, so time for Currently. But before I get started, I have a question. How was your Cinco de Mayo? Or, more curiously, did you even realize it was Cinco de Mayo? I mentioned on Monday that the date (05.05.25) was interesting to me but, even focusing on the date, the fact that it was actually “a date of note” was completely lost on me. It was not until that afternoon, when I was out meeting a friend for coffee and the parking lot was turned into a feista celebration, that I made the connection. Goodness. Is this one more example of my getting old?? Just a rabbit trail but, speaking of my Monday post and recap of my trip, I appreciate all the comments. Apparently, many have enjoyed the country western fun in Nashville:)
But, moving on, time to look at this month’s Currently prompts. As always the rest of the link-up can be found here. Let’s see. Currently, I am
LOVING – the thoughts and memories that pop up throughout the day of my trip last week. You know…thoughts like “oh, last week, I was” or “that dinner in Nashville was….” I love recent memories that linger with you like that. This morning I had coffee in a mug my friend grabbed for me while we were there. I think it will stir up memories often for me. By the way, the color green inside this mug is probably one of my absolute favorites.
Not to rush too quickly past last week, I am also enjoying planning another trip for next month. I would say I am loving it because I really do enjoy the planning but last night I was so frustrated. Everything that was advertised on-line somehow did not apply to me. I even called customer service but no help. I was even told (and I quote), “you cannot assume that the price you see advertised online is the actual price.” I can’t?? And why not? I am baffled but have decided to use a travel agent. Let someone else argue with this nonsense. Aggravation aside, I am looking forward to another girls’ getaway. Loving the idea actually.
LOOKING FORWARD TO – I suppose I should have saved that above paragraph for this prompt. I am looking forward to going away again in June. I will also be going to stay with a girlfriend in June while she recovers from surgery. This surgery was originally scheduled for last summer but had to be postponed. You might remember, when that fell through, we got out of Dodge and spent a few days in Gatlinburg. That was fun – but I do hope all goes as planned (and super smoothly) for my friend this year. While I am in North Carolina, I am very much looking forward to meeting sweet Tyler’s new little brother. Looking forward to all the newborn snuggles. And toddler giggles:)
LEAVING BEHIND – sugar. Or at least setting it aside. I mentioned trying to do a sugar free challenge. For the sake of true transparency, that completely went out the window while I was in Nashville. Sigh. I lasted about twenty-four hours. However. I am back on track. Sugar has been left behind for about a week and….well, the struggle has been real. I would love (as in , LOVE) to have a cookie. I was out yesterday. Friends wanted to acknowledge my birthday. They ordered dessert. And I had none. The sugar-free is a sad, little life. Ha. No doubt, I will survive.
LETTING GO OF – the idea of real customer service, as it once was. Why is talking to a real human being so incredibly difficult? I suppose companies hope to save money with automated call takers (not that they pay human call takers an exorbiant amount, mind you) but I do wonder how much business they lose when callers give up or hang up and move on out of frustration? I could also insert my opinon on how customer service has changed (not exactly for the better) with airlines and/or on flights. I could say much but, then again, that would not be “letting go,” now would it??
LOOKING AT – pictures from the trip last week. I like to weed through and pick out photos to save. All the extras can be deleted. Should be deleted, in my humble opinion. Although I will admit, most of my friends keep all the pictures. Good, bad, ugly, duplicates. All of them. That is not me. I’m not a saver and I guess that applies to photos as well. Do you take three or four photos of the same shot? Trying to capture the perfect one (although nothing really changes…lol). If so, do you save all four photos? That is a lot of extra photos. I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night. LOL!
Well, that’s another Currently post. Here’s to a nice Wednesday and a smooth finish to my vacation planning for next month. Let me know what you are looking forward to in the next few weeks – if anything. Looking forward to a blank slate calendar can also be a gift!! Thanks for stopping by!
The photos do add up quickly, especially with our iPhones and how easy it is to take too many. I am trying to go back to delete the duplicates for the sake of storage space.
Customer service: it is definitely not what it used to be.
Use a travel agent. That has got to be the best solution, given what you are facing.
I will take 3-4 photos of the same shot with the camera and get rid of the ones I don’t want once they are downloaded and I can see them better on my computer’s monitor. It is always fun to remember the adventures and/or experiences that turn into memories.
Customer service is the pits even when you get a human. It definitely isn’t the way it was.
Happy Thursday!
Yah to another trip… and more baby snuggles. You are turning into a jet setter :). Love it! Good luck with the no sugar thing. But not for Mother’s Day right? I am planning my sugar-palooza for MT already. I mean, I’m hosting so I need to provide lots of desserts, right? I generally take many photos of the same pose or view. I’ m often glad that I did due to an errant eye closed or something like that. I’m fairly good at deleting them after the fact. Have a great Mother’s Day this weekend!
I have to admit Cinco da Mayo also passed me by this year. I am not sure why, but perhaps it is as you suggested. I seem to be having several of those days with other special events also. That is a pretty mug and oh my, those cookies in your first photo. Such temptation. I also need to take the no-sugar challenge, especially after my family visited from overseas. I didn’t realize what a good girl I had been until after that vacation and another oh my, lol! Snuggles and toddler giggles sounds fabulous, and I am sure you will be a great comfort to your friend. This automated world we are living in, well, in some ways I love it and in other ways I don’t. I am one of those who takes multiple photos because there must be at least one I will absolutely love right? 😉 I have been that way since the first digital photograph. Happy Mother’s Day my friend and have a wonderful weekend.
Hi Jennifer. I browsed through your homepage of posts and wow. Your selections of photos are beautiful. I admire your generosity towards your friend. May she have a speedy recovery after her surgery. Remember to take care of yourself too.
Thanks for the smiles. Wishing you a beautiful Happy Mother’s Day.
Dealing with all the photos is the next mammoth task in this house after all the stuff came out of the loft. I have physical photos to deal with and then I dread to think how many on the computer. It will be a slow process but I will get there and keep the best and the those that hold special memories.
Its lovely to have another trip or two planned for the next few months and maybe you will have a few more photos to add to your collection 🙂
