Hello to October! The start of a new month. And one that seems to be a favorite for a lot (A LOT) of folks. I hope it brings much joy to many a weary soul! I must admit, as bummed as I am to say goodbye to summer, September was good to me in many ways. Yes, it was a heavy month in many ways but I see many blessings when I look back over the past few weeks. Makes me eager for the new month ahead. I am doing my monthly Currently post this morning and I typically start with loving the weather (or at least it seems that way) and, so, I will start with something else. But, truly, has not the weather been amazing?? Just had to get that out there. Now, let me get started. Currently,
I am loving the return to weekly Bible study. Tuesday mornings really refuel me. Yes, I very much enjoy digging into the scriptures but the ladies that gather each week are just as much a highlight of the week. They are so encouraging to me. So unique and diverse but each one brings something special to the morning. I don’t go to church with these ladies and don’t seem most of them outside of Bible study. So I really enjoy catching up. Hearing not only their praises and joys (like first time grandbabies born this past week) but also sharing their burdens and heartaches. It is a special time. Yesterday we were discussing and looking deeply at the first five of the ten commandments. Ideas like having no graven or created images, or even using God’s name in vain. It can be easy to think this is not an “us” problem…until you really dig deeper. I was really challenged.
I am anticipating a cruise! To New England and Canada. Including Prince Edward Island:) This cruise has been a dream of mine for years and, well, it is finally going to happen. Of course, it is not happening until next year…but we bought the tickets yesterday so it feels “real” and I don’t mind anticipating it for twelve months. At all. I should be completely over the moon by the time that ship sets sail!!
I am looking forward to my son finishing up his program in California. He will be coming home…at least for a few weeks before starting a new job. He is going to be making a solo cross country trip in order to celebrate and is really looking forward to it. All that driving and days on the road do not sound like a “reward to self” to me but I know he is super excited.
I am wearing some new dresses from Amazon. Lately, I have really been “striking gold” with Amazon purchases. Some months I feel all I do is drop off Amazon returns. But not the last few weeks or so. Not that I shop every day on Amazon but I will confess, after a few really cute finds, there is a tendency to shop some more:) I even found two pair of shoes. Shoes on-line? Who would have imagined it. Just yesterday I received the cutest pair of orange shoes. And they fit so wonderfully. Yes, orange shoes!!
I am cooking just about every day. And so enjoying it. Lately, I just enjoy my food more when I prepare it myself at home. I am not against eating out but, more and more, I am really underwhelmed when I do so. I’m not a good cook, by any stretch of the imagination, but I do know what I like and how I like it prepared…so cooking at home is a win in my book.
Okay, that’s a wrap. As always, thanks for stopping by. I hope everyone has a beautiful day. The beginning of a blessed month ahead! Let me know what you have been doing “Currently”!! The rest of the link-up is here.
Oh my goodness. You will be overjoyed with that cruise…especially when you make it to PEI. Our son’s family went there as a graduation gift for our oldest granddaughter when she graduated high school. They drove since they live in Maine, but they absolutely loved PEI.
I order shoes online and love the convenience because I know what brand, size and style works for me.
I enjoy cooking and baking a lot, so we mostly eat at home too.
Have a great week, Jennifer.
OK…you must share your meals. I am in such a rut with cooking. I love eating at home, but hubby likes eating out. I think he just likes getting out so I need to cook and then we can go for a drive.
A cruise to look forward sounds great.
Glad you enjoy your ladies group. We do a couples group at our home. I love it, but must admit sometimes I would like a ladies group. Several do both that come to ours, but at my season of life I can’t swing it.
Happy October.
Oh that cruise sounds like so much fun! It also sounds like you have been having lots of fun shopping. I ordered quite a bit of clothing from Amazon this past month too. And have zero returns to make; I love when that happens.
Your cruise sounds amazing! PEI?? You´d better take lots of pics and show the internet. I kid, of course. I´m glad your Bible study is going really well. How wonderful to look forward to seeing your son soon. Agree that a cross country drive is not my idea of a reward but to each his own! Have a great day!
I’m so glad you have found a group of ladies to share digging into the scriptures with! That’s such a special time! I really enjoy our Bible study at church and there are several ladies from different churches that make the time together extra special! You should share some of your amazon wins! I need some good dresses! And I’m so happy for you that you get to enjoy a dream cruise! You have lots of time to prepare! I hope you have a wonderful October!!!
How lovely to have something nice to look forward to and plan for next year, I am sure some of your new purchases may make it into your suitcase!
I bet you are counting down the days until your son is back, and it sounds like he is turning his return journey into quite an adventure. Lots of stories to be told.
Jennifer, you’ve touched on several things in this post…first off, I’m so sick of eating out! Since going back to work, I eat lunch out and then we barely scrape by for dinners, and it’s getting really old. I miss being at home and having time to cook and be the happy homemaker. Kind of struggling with that lately. And for the cruise…I’ve been wanting to do a New England cruise for years and keep thinking that we will splurge one year for our anniversary. They are so expensive! I guess I could start a “cruise fund” and start saving now 🙂
And your Bible study group sounds wonderful. I miss those days of gathering with a group to study and share things.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and plans with us 🙂 Have a great rest of the week 🙂
Orange shoes??!!! You go, girl!
I love all your autumn-y pictures, Jennifer. We still have a long way to go in that department around here. But I love these early days of fall.
Meanwhile, congrats on booking your cruise. What a wonderful experience to live aboard a ship for a few days. I’m a fan . . . and finally posting on what I’ve learned about traveling light tomorrow.
Hello Dear Jennifer, very exciting about your cruise! How wonderful that you will be seeing your son soon too. It’s good to treat ourselves. Your new dresses must be lovely. Thank you so much for sharing what you have been doing. Always a pleasure to visit. Happy October!
