Welcome to my blog and welcome to Friday. Time to wrap up another month (as far as monthly blog posts go) and, so, time for this month’s Share Four Somethings. Sometimes I think my Share Four Something posts are becoming redundant. Very repetitive. Each month I consider skipping it but the rule follower in me struggles to quit. So silly. But this morning, after the mental debate of should I or shouldn’t I, I decided to jump in again. At least, for this month:) This might be short and sweet. But you can read what others are loving and learning this month at the full link-up here starting tomorrow. Now,
some things I have loved – how much spring impacts me. I feel like the “real me” has returned. Every year, I am surprised at how much winter negatively affects me. But February and March are just hard. My attitude really tanks and every aspect of my life seems to tank with it. It feels so good to be back in the land of birds chirping, flowers blooming and things just being alive! Spring!! Winter leaves a heavy burden on my soul (dramatic but true) and I am glad to have that gone. For some reason, an old hymn comes to mind. “There is Sunshine in My Soul Today.” Yep, that’s me. Thank-you, spring!!
some things I have learned – let’s see, a few things I have been reminded of this past month: friends really are the “sprinkles on top” in your life. I have really enjoyed some fun times with my friends this past month. Those times can be a fun night in the city or a simple catch-up over coffee (or crochet!) but each one really makes me smile and recharges me. I also have some fun times with friends planned in the future. A couple girls’ getaways – which are extra fun. I am actually going away on Tuesday with a friend. We will be in Nashville. If you know any fun spots – things one just has to do in Nashville – please, let me know!! We have a few ideas but would love any suggestions. We are going to the Grand Ole Opry:)
some things that went well – April has gone well. When I look back over the calendar, there are lots of smiles in the last four weeks. I typically say that September is my favorite month of the year but I might just be changing that to April. I usually don’t say April because my birthday is in April. Don’t want to be cheesy. But, maybe that is just the cherry on the top for all that has been nice these past few weeks. I think I might even have dessert tomorrow. With a candle. But no singing. No need to go over the top!
something I need to let go of – my anxiety over flying. I have several flights scheduled and worrying about airports and airport security (sometimes weeks before it is even time to fly) really takes the fun out of looking forward to your trip! I recently declined a trip. For several reasons but the extra long flight across the country definitely figured into my decision. Now, that is a bummer. I have not always been like this but I am beginning to believe there is no going back. Back to when sky travel was fun. Heavy sigh.
And, that’s a wrap. I hope everyone has a great weekend. The azaleas in the front flowerbed are in full bloom. My window is open and the birds are beyond happy this morning. I have a birthday but if it is not your birthday…just make up a reason to celebrate. And include a cupcake!! Thanks for stopping by –
Happy Birthday … I enjoy all your JOYS … friends, love and SPRING!!
May is my favorite month of the year. August is my second favorite month of the year. 😉
Carla, your favorite month is May? It’s almost here!!:)
Wishing you a joyous birthday this weekend! Hmm, it won’t be a cupcake, but I will eat a cinnamon roll on your behalf. Have a fabulous weekend.
Hope that cinnamon roll was delicious. And hooray for you finding any reason to celebrate! I love it!!
Hi there. Thanks for visiting my blog. Your header is so beautiful with the blooms, I think it is Redbud. I have never flown and don’t want to. I am blessed that we do not need to. Every day, there bad plane from somewhere on the news. I love this nighttime street shot with all the lights. Kind of makes me think of Vegas (even though I have never been there)!
Ginny – so glad you came by the blog!! I hope we can visit more often!!
Happy Birthday!
I don’t usually get down in the winter, but this winter seemed extra long and it just kept snowing! I’m joyful, seeing blue skies, flowers starting to pop and leaves coming out on the trees. God is good all the time, but I sure do recognize it more in the Spring.
Yes, He is Mari!! God is so very good. Hope you have a wonderful week and thanks for your comment!
Happy Birthday. I enjoyed your 4 things. I love winter – fall – spring – summer is kind of hot for me. LOL
Thank you, Sandra!! It was a very nice birthday!
I used to love flying until I had a couple of back-to-back flight episodes – that turned me off! Since then, flying no longer offers the thrill it once held. It’s not just me, it definitely is not the same as it used to be pre- Sept 11.
Spring is such a wonderful time of the year. I’m loving it.
Oh boy, you are right, Debby. Flying is not the same. So many changes post 9/11 for sure. Sigh. Thanks for stopping by…have a great week!!
Wishing you a Happy Birthday! And you are so lucky to have a window open, not so much here in Florida where its already humid. Have a great day. smiles
Windows are no longer open, Linda. Now it is a bit chilly this morning. Weather is so goofy!!:)
Oh, I so agree with you about spring! I love summer most of all, but it blends into spring here so quickly, its like we have a 6 month “sprummer”. I am not a fan of dreary old winter. Happy Birthday month!
Oh, I love summer most of all. For sure, Gina. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. I look forward to more blog visits!
dear Jennifer, I hear you about the joyful gifts of spring. each year it never fails to amaze me how much life and hope and renewal comes from His hand, from the warm sunshine, and the fresh breezes.
weekend blessings to you, friend.
Thank you, Linda. You are a blessing!!
Happy Birthday!! I’m glad spring has brought you so much joy, and that you have some fun travel planned. I don’t have a fear of flying, but there’s always a bit of anxiety involved, and airports are just not fun. Remember when air travel was a really luxurious, upscale thing, and now it’s mundane and there’s parts of the whole process that are just yuck. On the plus side – going to a fun place with friends is exciting! Hope you enjoy the rest of April and that May brings lots of good things as well!
I totally agree Kym. And I hope that your May includes some extra blessings as well! Happy Monday to you!
Happy birthday! I love to travel and see new things BUT I have some anxiety when flying. I actually get a prescription before we fly on these long flights (like the 12 hour or more ones). I’ve decided it is worth it to take a pill if I have to in order to get to where I want to be. I know everyone might not agree. It is interesting how air travel has changed in my lifetime.
Oh my, Lisa. Those extra long flights are almost more than I can handle these days. Kudos to you for finding a way to make it work. Happy Monday to you!!
I totally “get it” when it comes to flying. Last June we flew to Maine for our youngest granddaughter’s high school graduation, and I worried for weeks before our departure about going through airport security. And then, when I did actually go through it, everything went so smoothly that I had to ask myself why I worried. I’m just finding that the older I get the more I enjoy being home. 🙂 xx
Yes, I am praying for the same. That everything goes super smoothly and I am left wondering, “What was I so worried about??”:) Thanks, Dianna. Have a wonderful week ahead!!
I share your sentiments about the springtime! I saw our first hummingbird at the feeder yesterday and was giddy with joy. The small gifts… and happy birthday, Jennifer!
I have never enjoyed flying, always preferring to drive when we could, so I get it. I am enjoying spring finally appearing as well. I have always loved spring. I am glad things are going well. I lived in Nashville for college and loved it. I hope you have a fantastic visit.
I had to smile reading about your hesitation to do this post, but feeling compelled – because I so relate! Once I start something, I tend to feel I need to stick to the commitment, even when no one would care or notice but me if I stopped. ha. Hope you have a great time in Nashville today. And that you had a happy birthday!
Thanks, Lisa! (Glad I’m not the only one!):)
I hope you are having a great time in Nashville! I too think the fun of flying is behind us but I have been much better at not stressing overly much about airport security, plane schedules, and things like that that I can’t control about air travel. I mean I still don’t sleep the night before I have to fly but I no longer feel the anxiety building up before that so I’ll take it…. honestly though I don’t really know what’s changed but when I feel myself getting anxious I take a deep breath in and out and remind myself that worrying can’t change what is out of my control. I guess it’s working?… maybe.
