I can’t believe I almost missed this month’s Share Four Somethings. Truthfully, I did miss it. Jen had the link-up last weekend and, well, I totally was not paying attention. I thought about skipping it but I have not missed one of these posts for years and I didn’t want to start now. It is fun to look back at the previous months and see what I was loving and what was sustaining me. (Sometimes, like today, I look back at previous posts and see typos. Or mulitple typos. UGH! Maybe previous posts should remain old posts and in the past. Sigh.) That said, late or not…here is a look at July and, this month, something….
I LOVED – was not only our country’s big birthday but also being a part of the DC Gospel Outreach. Goodness it was hot that Saturday we spent downtown, and the heat almost took out Hubbie, but we made it! So many John/Romans booklets were distributed and we were able to speak with several people. Everyone was so kind. The team that has been doing the outreach all summer has really put in time, effort and so much heart. Tens of thousands booklets have been given to people all over the nation’s capitol. They have also been inside both the Senate and the House buildings and are had an appreciation luncheon for staffers yesterday. This is their last week. Hard to believe all the ground they have covered and I loved that we had a part in it.
THAT SUSTAINED ME – or, at least, has kept me excited are vacation plans. We have two trips planned (one in September and another in October) as well as a short getaway this weekend. I love the planning almost as much as the going…although, I am very much looking forward to our September vacation. For that one, I will enjoy the going as much, if not more, than the planning:) We really enjoy vacations during the fall months and, well, vacation season will soon be here for us.
I AM CARRYING FORWARD – some patriotism. At least, I am trying. I still have my few red, white and blue things out. Is that because I have been unmotivated to pull the bin out, put things away and redo the mantle? Um, maybe? Yes. But I am using them to remind me not only of my time downtown but also of our country in general. There is much to criticize, if that is what I choose to do. But there are also abundant blessings and much for which I can be grateful. It’s all about focus/perspective. I concentrated more on the blessings earlier this month and I want to (need to) carry that forward.
I AM MAKING SPACE FOR – more creativity, or creative outlets. Truthfully, I have the space. Or the time. I even have plenty of supplies (right now my hobby seems to be collecting supplies). But I am determined to do more with said supplies. Finish a few projects and start some new ones, too. I don’t always “allow” myself the enjoyment of just having fun while creating. Especially if it seems at all artistic. I am definitely not artistic. But, that’s okay. My crochet friends inspire me (that’s just a wee sampling of their work there) and I would love to have one of my blankets included the next time we visit the assisted living.
And, that’s it for another month. What was something you loved in July? I have to say…I am away this weekend and will not be at the computer. I might not reply right away but, next week, I will look forward to reading what you loved in July. Please share in the comments. And hopefully, I wll get a post up on Monday. That remains to be seen. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend ahead. Thanks for stopping by today!
You are so right about it being our perspective that is important. We can find things to complain about on almost every topic and we can find (some at least) good in almost every topic. Our perspective and attitude are what is important. I am carrying patriotism forward as well. The DC Gospel Outreach project sounds incredibly meaningful and impactful. I know you volunteered your time but I hope you were blessed as well (heat exhaustion obviously notwithstanding). I hope you have a wonderful weekend away!
I will be excited to read about your trips…. once you go on them. 😉
We have a trip planned for November.
Praying for you during your weekend getaway.
