Welcome to the blog and this month’s Currently post. Hard to believe a new month has begun. And even harder to believe that I saw an entire parking lot full of yellow trees yesterday. Not one tree but the whole lot! All completely dressed in their fall colors. How can that be?? I suppose the glorious weather is just making everyone – and everything! – oh so happy. Speaking of the weather, let me get started. Currently,
I am loving the weather! It has been picture perfect glorious. In last month’s post, I mentioned how beautiful the San Francisco weather was and I was feeling all jealous. Well, it is even lovelier here now…and, my brother let me know yesterday that their currect forecast is for 99 or 100 degree days all week. Sorry. I am loving opening the windows and the crisp fresh air that blows curtains. I am loving not having to use the air conditioning. We are, at least, able to give it some breaks each day.
Besides the weather, I am loving the California updates I receive from our son. He seems to be making the most of his time. Really getting out an exploring on the weekends (his school is Monday through Friday…and they had an extra long weekend this past one) and sometimes/occassionally/every once in awhile sends photos as well. I’m happy for him and am loving seeing him do what he really enjoys.
I am beginning to get excited for our trip away in two weeks. For our anniversary, we are going to Tennessee (Pigeon Forge area) for about five days. My hubbie and I have not been able to travel (or even really get away) together for quite awhile. Something we have very much missed doing and we are both excited…not only for this trip but, hopefully, that is will be the first of several trips in the next months or so. I know so many have been to Pigeon Forge. They have a lot of shows (dinner shows or otherwise) and, if you enjoy that, I would love to know your favorite show. Or perhaps your favorite restaurant??
I am ending my complaints about autumn. Ok, well, I am going to try. I was reading a blog post this morning and Maggie Rowe said (about her opinion on fall’s arrival), “Autumn’s shorter days and colder nights cue up Melancholy Maggie, and it’s not a pretty tune—more off-key kazoo than catchy chorus.” Ditto. I could not have said it better myself. But, goodness, enough of the whining, Jennifer. My bad attitude ends now. And I think I will have a pumpkin spice latte to celebrate. Well, maybe. But you heard it here. No more “melancholy Maggie.”
I am picking through my fall decor. I had wanted to put it out the other day. All the peer pressure here on the internet. But I just couldn’t bring myself to do so in August. In August!? But now that the calendar has flipped, I am ready for a change of scenery around the house. But I’m not sure that I will do as much as I typically do. So I’m looking through. Picking out favorites. Deciding what can stay in the bins. And getting ready for some fall feels up in here! If you decorate seasonally, have you added some autumn touches yet??
I am posting a tad more regularly. I still stuggle to get posts pre-published and/or even ready the day before, etc. I’m usually scrambling the morning of (Mon., Wed., and Friday). I’d like to do better with that but I am happy with a bit of a schedule that I have for posting ideas. It is a very (very) fluid schedule but it seems to be working. Schedule or no schedule. Early or just on time. I’m just enjoying posting, blogging and the blog community.
As always, thanks for stopping by. I hope everyone’s week is beautiful and breeezy!! Let me know what you have been doing “Currently”!! The rest of the link-up is here.
Jennifer, I, for one, am happy seeing you post more often! You have such a talent for writing, and I always enjoy reading here. I’m glad that your son is enjoying his time in CA and I’m with you when it comes to the weather here as opposed to what it is there! My husband took our air conditioner out and put it away a few days ago. We’ve actually had our furnace running in the early mornings to take the chill off the house. Ahhhh….my time of year!
Your anniversary trip away sounds like a wonderful getaway for you and your husband. I’ve not been to that area, but we had friends who lived in the area at one time.
I did put out some of my autumn decor but not finished it up yet. I’m still doing a bit of canning and once that is finished up, I will pull out the rest of the things.
While I love fall, my house decor is still decked out in its patriotic finery and will be that way for at least another week before I start to take it down. There is a house in town that the outside is already decorated for Halloween. My first thought was good grief. But then my second thought was “whatever floats your boat and makes you happy”. I am glad your son is enjoying his time in California. I hope you have a wonderful trip to Tennessee. I have never been but will be heading there for a stitching retreat in November. Have a wonderful Wednesday, Jennifer.
Glad you’re posting three days a week (when you can…) as it’s always good to hear from you :). Our town’s pumpkin patch opened in late August which seemed too early to me!! I did get some fall decor out to day and have it displayed. Seems a tad bit early for that but it is September. Glad to hear your son is going well in CA. Those temps- I guess it’s San Diego that has perfect temperatures year round?
The weather really has been so beautiful! It sounds like your son is doing real well in California. We went to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge a few years ago; my boys are still talking about some pulled pork and BBQ they had at Bennett’s Pitt Bar B Que if that’s your kind of thing. The only thing I really remember eating in Pigeon Forge was the cinnamon bread at Dollywood. That was delicious! But I don’t know that you can find it anywhere outside of the amusement park.
oh dear…I am so excited for you all to get to take a trip to Pigeon Forge. I love traveling over that way. So very pretty and so refreshing to drive through the smokey mountains. last time we were there, I saw a baby bear and it sure made the trip awesome. As much as I want to decorate with the beautiful Fall colors, I usually try to just wait until closer to the last week in September or first week in October. I figure that Sept, Oct and November is a long time to have the pumpkins and Orange out, so I make myself wait. Who Knows…maybe this year I’ll get inspired and go ahead and pull out the Fall stuff. I always enjoy visiting your blog…
Happy Anniversary to you both. Enjoy your break with hubby in Tennessee and make lots of special memories together. .
So glad your son is checking in with you regularly and sharing his adventures in California! I haven’t started decorating for fall yet, mostly because I have been dragging my feet about doing a real good housecleaning first. I guess I usually switch over to fall around the middle of September so I’m not behind . . . yet! Happy Anniversary and I hope you have a great time at Pigeon Forge!
Oh, the real good houseclean that needs to happen before the decor switch really does put a damper on the whole process, doesn’t it?? Makes me want to procrastinate! So glad you stopped by, Kym!
