Happy Monday! For those of us here in the states, it is a federal holiday and an extra day to the weekend. I must admit, in this season of my life, there is not much distinction between the week and the weekend. All the weekends are long ones it seems:) However, I know there are many who work hard and not only look forward to the weekend but, especially, to these extra Mondays. If that is you, I hope you enjoy your day! However you look at it, Mondays are still Mondays…and my personal favorite!
Perhaps it is the blending of weeks and weekend – I’m not sure – but I don’t usually recap my weekends, but the last few days were rather full. In all the nicest ways. Saturday there was some (quite a bit of) “fall cleaning” and (re)organizing. Any type of organizing makes my heart happy. And our garage is looking especially spiffy…lol. We also went out the cemetery. It is looking nice there, too. I had wanted to get out my fall things for the porch, and the cemetery, but it was just too pretty. Late summer pretty. However, I will, no doubt, be doing that soon. But I’m getting ahead of myself. Friday we met some friends for lunch. They live about five hours south of me but were in town for a ministry project. They were still a bit over an hour from here but, being in the same state, we just had to make it work in order to see each other.
We drove about 90 minutes to meet them. And the drive was lovely. We were so enjoying the scenery and the day that I tried to take a picture throught the windshield while we were driving. Not the best of photos but a reminder of a fun day. It was so nice to see all of them. Their two children are so sweet. We laughed and chatted for almost two hours….and I forgot to take a single picture. Good grief. But I am documenting it here on the blog – so it is a good memory:)
Today we are headed to a church picnic. And what a splendid picnic type day it is! I’m looking forward to sitting outside all afternoon! The smell of charcoal. Listening to the kids play. Watching the adults try to play volleyball like their still teenagers. (Remembering my thoughts about this? I will not be one trying to keep up – lol!) It has the makings for a perfect Monday. I hope your day is a good one as well. And here’s to the week in front of us. Full of potential. Ah, you just have to love Mondays!:)
Your Monday sounds amazing! And yes, I am looking forward to all that this week brings!
Your drive on Friday looked picture perfect with blue sky, white clouds, and still looking green. Enjoy your picnic today. I had Fiber Friends this morning and that was fun. Clean slates — new month, new week and new day!
Your weekend sounds lovely! I can see how weeks and weekends blend in and the days pass by indiscriminately save for some markers like church on Sunday :). Seeing old friends is always fun- sharing a good meal, laughter, catching up- some of the best things for the soul, I think. I hope the new month is a great one for you!
Sounds like you had a good Labor Day. I did enjoy my Labor Day weekend. Since I keep grandchildren and see about my 90 year old mother weekends are good for me just like they are for the working people.
Jennifer, thank you for reminding me of something…”And here’s to the week in front of us. Full of potential. Ah, you just have to love Mondays!:)” I have the mindset of dreading Mondays, but the way you put it at the end will be a great help to me when I begin next week! Thanks, Friend. xx
We had a church picnic about two weeks ago when the weather was good and there was plenty of chatter and fun. Today it is raining so not picnic weather
Making the effort to see friends who live a distance away is always good and makes meeting up even more special..
