Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a nice weekend. Mine included an updated informational meeting for my upcoming trip to Panama. It is two weeks from tomorrow. Hard to believe. Sounds like we will hit the ground running and stay busy while we are there. Just talking about it with the whole team was very exciting. Oh, there was also a really nice hike/long walk in my weekend. We went to an island downtown – which is pretty cool – but I will share pictures and bit more about that on Wednesday. Today, I have my second group of photos for the Photo Scavenger Hunt that Ruth is hosting. There are fifteen prompts or photograph opportunties to hunt for….and I was hoping to find a few more than I did this month. Not sure how many I will find next month, especially since I will be away for awhile, but it is fun trying to notice certain things. All that to say, this is what I found this month. Remember….I am not handy with the camera!!
a kitchen utensil you hardly ever use –
When I read this prompt, I (almost) immediately knew which utensil would be most appropriate. It is rather hidden here. To the right of the coffee maker and in front of the towel. It is a milk frother. Bought with visions of foamy lattes that would rival my favorite coffee shop. Or, at least, it would make my own morning coffee taste that much better. It did neither. Coffee flavor did not change. In fact, the milk barely frothed (is that a word?) I’m not sure why I even still have it but you can be sure, it is a utensil that rarely sees use in my kitchen.
what’s on your feet –
I decided to bring out the “heavy duty” walking shoes this past week. I mentioned last week that I started walking three miles each morning. I guess I feel like a “real” walker now (lol) and my casual, lightweight (and super comfy) walking sneakers were just too amateurish:) Funny thing: each shoe has a slogan “I will run long” (um, walk….) on the inside. A morning pep talk from my shoes!!
something with wings –
Okay, that thing is just creepy. We love sitting on our front porch…until you turn to find that thing on the railing right next to your chair. Instead of flicking it as far away as I could, I grabbed my phone to take a picture. Who am I??
look up to the sky –
I think this photo is my favorite. Completely untouched or filtered (or whatever else you do to photos). Just me sitting on my patio and noticing what an amazingly blue and beautiful sky there was that afternoon!!
a place of worship –
Perhaps not the fanciest church. Or the most architecturally beautiful. But it is my church. A pretty building but, more importantly, filled with my church family that means so much to me. I am blessed to be a part of this church.
That’s it for this month. Thanks for stopping by…and have a a great week ahead. I will be posting on Wednesday and Friday this week. Stop by again.
What a fun theme! I love taking pictures of objects. I finally got a new phone and I will say, the photos seem to be a step up, so maybe I’ll be inspired to take more. Wow! In two weeks you’ll be on a big trip! How exciting!! Oh, and I’m loving all the Fall pictures and memes on your sidebar 🙂 Have a great week Jennifer!
My new phone is helping….but I have a long way to go! All of your beautiful blog photos….you take those on your camera??
I hope that the photo challenge turns you into a photograher! Sometimes I think that I overtake pictures (and/or overshare but I honestly take more photos than I share!) and sometimes think too much about making sure that I take the photo rather than simply savoring the moment (though it is usually possible to do both, thankfully!). However, when I look back on my photos, I am always glad that I took them to remind me of an event or day past which usually conjures up other memories. So overall, I do not regret being a shutterbug ! You took some great pictures- that sky sure is pretty! I hope you have a wonderful Monday!
Wouldn’t it be exciting to turn into a photographer!?! Might be a stretch…but I sure would like to get better. Honestly, I have never had much interest but lately I have really enjoyed trying to take a picture!!
I love this post. First of all, I love you’re walking 3 miles a day. I only walk about a mile, but last week I did it every day and am hoping to to the same this week. You are an inspiration for sure! Your coffee corner is so cute. I’ve never used a frother, but they sure do make for pretty coffees (but then again, I don’t drink coffee. lol) I love the bug photo. I probably would have done the same thing, well after I hollered and screamed first. The beautiful blue sky is always photo worthy (in fact, I posted a picture of one on my blog this morning. Our church is very plain and simple, but like you, I love it because of our church family. Hope you have a wonderful day!
Thanks Cathy! You probably do not need a frother – especially if you aren’t a coffee drinker! LOL Church families really are a tremendous blessing, aren’t they?? Glad you stopped by –
HI Jennifer~ I really love the idea of doing a photo hunt! I may have to follow along. What on earth kind of bug is that?!?!?! Horrifying! I think it’s wonderful that you are walking 3 miles a day! I’m also excited for your trip to Panama, what an exciting way to start off September! I can’t wait to see your photos from your trip. I love the picture of your church, it’s just beautiful. I’ve always loved white churches, and with the flag in the front, it’s just so pretty! I really enjoyed seeing a part of your world! Have a great week! Hugs, Barb
Barbara, I have no idea what that bug was…I have not seen or before. Or, lately, I have not seen it since!! I’m excited about Panama as well. Hopefully, I can take some photos along the way!
A delightful series of photos Jennifer. Thank you so much, a very enjoyable visit for sure 🙂 How exciting that you are off to Panama!!!
Thank you, Denise!!
I love your style of decorating, Jennifer. The kitchen photo looks so cozy and inviting!
And that sky picture…oh my! SO blue!
Loved the picture of your church and the reason why it means so much to you!
What brilliant photos! I am not sure I would have stayed calm enough to reach for my phone to photograph that weird bug. I love the fact that you have chosen your own church for that prompt, and the reason behind you choosing it.
Panama sounds exciting – what an experience!
Looks like you are having fun with the 2024 SPSH. Some great finds. I doubt very much I would hang around that insect long enough to take a photo – well done you. 🙂
Great wings photo – thanks so much for joining in! 🙂
I have a milk frother that I bought with high hopes that absolutely did not pan out. It’s buried in a drawer somewhere. Love the church photo – I feel the same about my church, although I chose a historic church I know little about for the scavenger hunt. Is that weird bug a cicada of some kind? I wouldn’t have taken a photo!
Kym, that was my husband’s guess…about the bug. Maybe a cicada. I have no idea. But it sure has creepy eyes!! Thanks for stopping by!!
