Happy Hump Day….or perhaps I should say Happy Hodge Podge! I thought today would be a good day for some Hodge Podge answers with Joyce. I always enjoy reading everyone’s answers. So, let’s jump right in….
1. What is one cliche you think is nonsense? Opposites attract. I have never really seen this to be true. A few differences are one thing but genuine opposites? I’ve never known that to last. At least, no happily. Also – Time heals all wounds. No need to really elaborate but I do not think this is true. What’s one you think holds truth? Ignorance is bliss. So many times I would just rather not know. And the not knowing is just fine. And, for the most part, I find What goes around comes around to be true. Thankfully.
2. What’s the last thing you broke and how did it happen? When I first read this question, for some reason, I assumed it was referring to breaking a bone…which, just for the record, I have never broken a bone. So thankful about that. Further for the record, I’ve never had a cut or other accident that needed stitches. Incredibly thankful for that as well! I don’t do stitches. Ugh. But back to the question. I honestly cannot think of a physical thing that I have broken. Recently or not so recently. I had to replace my phone last month because the screen got broken. But I did NOT do that…I only had to pay to replace it. Grrrrr.
3. Are you a fan of s’mores? Have you had a s’more this summer? Last thing you ate that you wanted to ask for ‘s’more of’? I have not had a s’more this summer. I don’t dislike them but would not say I am a huge fan. Maybe it is the mess. I dunno. But I can certainly take them or leave them. As far as asking for “more please” that would probably be french fries. I am on such a huge french fry kick lately. We had them just for lunch on Monday and I totally asked my husband if I could have a few of his after I finished my own! I think I could eat a Beyond Burger with a side of fries every day. I don’t. But I could!
4. A mode of transportation you’ve never tried? Will you someday? A motorcycle. And, no, I have no intention of riding anywhere on a motorcycle. The motorcyclists around here are some of the worst on the highways. They are reckless and ridiculous. I wish they were not allowed on our highways. But I should probably stop now before I offend the motorcycle lovers among us.
5. Believe it or not, next week’s Hodgepodge lands in a brand new month. What’s your happiest memory from the month we’re bidding adieu? There have been several afternoons that I enjoyed with different friends this month. A couple to celebrate birthdays and a few others just for fun. One lunch I was able to reconnect with a girlfriend that I have not seen much for quite some time. We used to be so close and I’ve missed her friendship. That was a nice afternoon. On Friday (which will still be August), we are meeting friends for dinner who moved away several years ago. To South Dakota…so we, obviously, do not see them too often. We are really looking forward to catching up with them. It is a blessing to have friendships that endure both time and distance and I’ve been reminded of that several times this month.
6. Insert your own random thought here. Ok, this is totally random, but she did ask for random. However. I had seen a Pinterest ad for pumpkin scented bodywash by Dove and, as I always do when the pumpkin goodies start to hit the shelves, I get suckered right in. And Dove got me this time. I really want to try that bodywash. As in, I drove to mulitple (yes, more than one) Walmarts looking for this bodywash. I don’t even shop at Walmart but an internet search led me to believe that was the only place I could find it. And, well, I HAD to have it. But, there was no yummy pumpkin scented bodywash. I tried to accept defeat. However, a few days later I was in the local grocery store and decided to just quickly walk down the bodywash aisle. There were probably 10 to 15 different brands of bodywash. None that were pumpkin scented but that is not even the real point of this completely random thought. Three whole shelves of bodywash all on display and well within reach. Except the Dove. There were two half shelves lined with Dove bodywash – and they were all under lock and key. What? Is this where we have come that we now need to “see an associate for assistance” in order to buy bodywash? And not all bodywash is created equal. ONLY the Dove brand was under locks. Can anyone explain this to me?? I knew my family would not believe me (and they could not), so I took a photo. I have no words. Just a picture.
And on that very random note, I will end. Thanks for stopping by friends. Thank you for all your kind comments regarding my (also very random) photos on Monday. That scavenger hunt has proved to be fun. I look forward to your visit again on Friday. It will be time for this month’s Share Four Somethings. Until then –
I completely agree with “ignorance is bliss” about most things. (Sadly, I think we have to keep abreast of current political events to make the right decisions and to be prepared to explain why we feel such and such about such and such a topic or about a candidate.) I thought question two referred to a physical object but I couldn’t think of anything recently so I referred to my poor broken tendon!! It sounds like you’ve had some lovely time together with friends and have more to look forward to. Have a great Wednesday and so glad you joined the ‘Podge!
Thanks Maria….and I hope your Wednesday is going well too!!
Random products are kept under lock and key in our CVS too. There’s almost no crime here (or maybe shoplifting is a problem I’m unaware of) but it feels odd to ask for help with soap. I try so hard not to eat french fries. I love them, but I always feel ugh after I eat them. I like for my hubs to order them, and then I can have one or two, but if you put a plateful in front of me I’ll eat the whole thing. Have a great day!
I really should just have hubbie order the fries. That would definitely limit me…although he is more than willing to share:) Thanks for stopping by and for the link-up today, Joyce! I enjoyed it!
I enjoyed your answers and your thoughts on the cliches. That is a little weird they have the Dove body soap under lock and key. I love French Fries too, but usually just a few are enough. Have a great day!
Oh yes to the french fries!!:)
Well that is a new one for me, bodywash under lock and key. Your August sounded full of good times with people. What a blessing. I think it is the messiness of s’mores that turns me off and the fact that you are usually outside around a fire without a simple way to wipe off your fingers! 🙂 I hope you have a wonderful Labor Day weekend.
Yes, Ellen, those s’mores (as romantic as they sound) are very messy. And sticky! So glad you stopped by…thanks much!
That’s bizarre that bodywash would be under lock and key!
Bizarre is exactly what I thought!!
You made me stop and think about the “opposites attract” thing, Jennifer. My husband and I are very different in many ways…almost to the point that I would say that saying to be true. But as I read what you had to say I stopped to consider the saying. Yes, we are opposite in many ways, and in those things we have learned in over 50+ years to come to compromises, etc. But in the things that hold marriages together we are very much alike! So, thanks, my friend, for causing me to pause and think things through.
I suppose some difference/opposites are necessary to compliment one another….but with the major things, it really needs to be a team effort. Both on the same page, shall we say? Thanks for your thoughtful comment, Dianna. Always glad when you stop by!
This is so interesting Jennifer, thank you 🙂 I have another blogging friend who does this also and all your answers kept me interested from beginning to end. Such a clever meme! Happy day to you and a happy weekend also.
Thanks so much Denise….hope your weekend is nice as well!!
