Hello friends! Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day. After reading lots of blogs the last few days, it seems you either enjoy the day full of hearts, flowers and chocolate, or you appear indifferent. Personally, I think it is cute and can be a lot of fun. And mid-February, I am usually looking for a bit of fun! I’m looking forward to tomorrow and thought – just for more fun – I would do a little Valentine’s This or That. Even if you lean toward “it’s just another day,” I hope you will still play along and have some fun with me. We did get some snow yesterday so I’ll sprinkle a few of photos here or there as well. By the way, I find these “pairs” on Pinterest. They are not original. I do try to edit the ones that don’t apply to me (at all) but, still, I struggle with some of the choices. So, why do I include them? Who knows but let’s get started.
Valentine’s This or That
red roses or pink roses
chocolate or (other) candy
homecooked meal or fancy restaurant
flowers or jewelry
sweet card or funny card
store bought card or handmade card
vanilla or strawberry
stay in or go out
dress up or pajamas
movie night or game night
conversation hearts or smarties
red or pink
strawberries or whipped creme
My answers were definitely influenced by the theme of Valentine’s Day. I don’t typically enjoy fresh flowers (although my husband very much enjoys buying them…which is interesting) but something about flowers for Valentine’s Day is nice. And pink over red any day. Red is not a favorite color of mine. For flowers, sweaters, or decorating (even at Christmas).
I will never turn down chocolate – along as it is dark. Not a fan of milk chocolate but I love dark chocolate. I think it is healthy to eat one square a day. At least, that is what I tell myself:) As for vanilla vs. strawberry? Vanilla is rather boring. Strawberry is not a favorite but I suppose it would win out over vanilla. I’m actually not a big fan of strawberries, in general, unless they are covered in dark chocolate! Whipped creme is a much more indulgent – and fun – dessert option!
My husband and I enjoy nice restaurants. We eat out more than we should but not what you would call fancy. Not fast food but, you know. A nice “fancier” restaurant on Valentine’s Day would be perfect for me. Definitely go out rather than stay in. We stay in six nights out of seven. Let’s go out, if we are going to celebrate. Once back home, I would prefer a game night but my husband definitely prefers watching a movie and/or something on tv. So, that is a toss-up. And, again, flowers over jewelry…just for this occasion.
Truthfully, I do not need a card. They seem like such a waste of money to me. But I suppose a handmade card would be better than a store-bought one and definitely not a funny one. I have no sense of humor. And what would be the point??
I won’t get started on the idea of staying in my pajamas. Um, no. Pajamas are for sleeping. The are not for Target, the mall or even hanging around the house. Good grief.
And, last and even least, would be conversation hearts. I do not like these candies. At all. I’m not sure how they came to be the candy most often associated with Valentine’s Day but they do not say “I love you” in any way to me!!:)
Well, if you plan to celebrate tomorrow, I hope you have a “sweet”day. If not and you are rather over hearing and reading about all things pink, red and chocolate – hang in there. It is almost over. Either way, have a great weekend!! I hope you will come back on Monday.
By the way, I sure do wish this guy was my valentine tomorrow! Oh my heart:) Honestly, it is these little ones that make days like Valentine’s Day so much fun!!
First time visiting here….Beautiful blog! I like Valentines day, but not near as much as when my daughters and grandkids were younger. Of course…we always send cards with a little something in it, to all of them… I am not a chocolate eater, so I would have to pass on Chocolates. I owned my own flower shop years ago, so I prefer Jewelry over flowers. I also prefer movie night…staying in my pj’s and a home cooked meal. I know…I sound like a boring sport at Valentines. I’m really not…I just don’t like the crowds during Valentines. I enjoyed this blog and will be visiting again…Thank you for the fun post.
Loved this, Jennifer! It would be pink roses for me, chocolate definitely!, homecooked meal (if my husband is doing the cooking…he’s a great cook!), flowers most definitely and I would prefer something potted that will last for a while, cards are nice, but the ones that have been the most special to me through the 53 years of marriage are the few that my husband has made for me. They aren’t fancy, but the words he has written mean SO much to me because they are his sentiments, strawberry would be my choice, if he’s cooking, I’d rather stay in, otherwise a nice restaurant, dress up, just because it’s fun, movie night, conversation hearts, pink and lastly strawberries.
A little side note…we usually celebrate Valentine’s Day on the 13th because it’s the anniversary of our first date 54 years ago. And we are going out to a nice restaurant tonight!
And when it comes to the little guy…be still my heart! What a cutie!
What a cute little guy! ❤️
Growing up, my bedroom had pink and red roses, and red carpeting! Pretty back then, but now I think what was I thinking?
We’ll stay home – get some take out. Our anniversary is Sunday anyway. My husband is developing a nasty cough so looks like we will have to play it all by ear!
Enjoy your Valentines Day. 💕
Ha… cute… I am with about PJ’s are for bedtime. I hate it when I see people shopping or doing other chores in their PJ’s. Grrrr.
I am a fan of pink.
I like chocolate… dark chocolate.
We are going cross country skiing for the first time this winter, Friday. We will come home have soup for dinner and we plan to watch You’ve Got Mail, a favorite movie of ours from our dating days. 😉

Students in our school can wear pajama bottoms to school!! Can you believe that? It’s disheartening, really. I agree that candy hearts aren’t the best tasting but some of them do, literally, say “I love you.” Enjoyed reading your answers and I agree with many of them. Can’t decide on whether I’d rather go out or stay home for a Valentine’s Day meal. Though I know that we will be staying in. Donnie’s work has been so stressful; he’s not going to want to come home just to turn around and head back out for dinner. We’ll eat in and that will be good! Have a great weekend!
roses – both colors!
chocolate (milk chocolate)
both home cooked and restaurant
sweet from hubby, funny from all others
store bought card
vanilla
stay in
pretty jammies
movie night
not a fan of smarties candy
pink
BOTH strawberries AND whipped cream
I like that list and your choices. I told Mark this morning that we should play Scrabble tonight. We were going to go out yesterday because of the crowds today but I didn’t feel well. So we are going to order something for delivery today. My daughter in laws birthday is today but we are going to go out to dinner on Monday to celebrate because of the crowds today. He is just so darn cute. I agree, these little ones always make my day. Happy Valentine’s Day to you.
What a fun meme and I did borrow it-smiles. I hope your Valentines Day was a beautiful one. Have a beautiful Saturday my friend.
Hello Jennifer, first I do love your header photo. It really is an elegant image, and quite beautiful! I am having a hard time catching up but thank you for the lovely comments you leave me. Always enjoyed and very much appreciated. I love pink roses and chocolate. I always like to have a homecooked meal and prefer flowers to jewelry, at this stage of my life anyway. I’ve always loved flowers though. A sweet card thank you. I have one blogging friend Ann who sends me the most beautiful handmade cards. I would rather have handmade any day. Vanilla or strawberry? I like both but if it was a choice I would say vanilla. I’m a homebody, stay in. I like to get comfortable in pajamas for a movie night. Hearts and love pink lately. Strawberries. That was fun! Thank you for sharing that. Fun to read your answers too. Pretty photos and such a sweetie your Valentine, darling little boy! I look forward to reading all about the 14th later on. Happy Sunday!
Well, if it helps you feel better dark chocolate is actually healthier than milk chocolate. 🙂 I love going out to eat too but we rarely get to do that because life is expensive enough when raising two young kiddos. I hope you had a great Valentines Day with your hubby.
Jennifer, I agree on the p.j’s all day…NO…NEVER! That would make me feel like I was sick and needed to be in bed. P.j’s are for sleeping and then it’s clothes and shoes all day long. Also, not a fan of store bought cards. I treasure a homemade letter or card with original words of love. I prefer candy over flowers and a casual restaurant over fancy, any day. All that being said…I’m a “take it or leave it” Valentine girl. As long as I’m with my people, I’m good. Nothing fancy required. Although I did buy two cute shirts with hearts this year and that was fun!
I agree about the PJ’s – not during the daytime for me.
I like red but prefer pink roses.
Chocolate every time, preferably dark. The cheesecake I made for Valentines Day was vanilla but we ate it with a homemade berry fruit pouring sauce, which was delicious.
Cute little man and his smile would make anyones heart melt.
Hope you had a special day x
