Happy Monday! Don’t mind me as I’m over here doing a bit of a happy dance in my kitchen! The no-snow in the forecast happy dance:) For the past two or three days, the forecasts have waffled up and down, then back and forth, with predicitions anywhere from one inch of snow up to over ten inches!! And, then, this morning…zip. Nothing. Nada. Not one flake. Definitely time for a happy dance!! I can already tell it is going to be a good week!
We also had a good rain yesterday which washed away almost all of last week’s snow, so I’m calling it a clean slate and time to set our sights for spring. Maybe. Hopefully. When we were out on Friday, I actually saw the tips of some daffodils timidly peeking (just a bit) out of a flowerbed. That certainly made me smile. A good blogger would have snapped a photo to share but you will just have to take my word for it. I would not joke about signs of spring!!:)
I also had a nice weekend. We enjoyed a nice lunch for Valentine’s Day – I had butternut squash ravoli which was delicious – and strolled through our favorite antique and a neighborhood farm market before heading home. It was a “lovely” day:) I was reminded that I really do not care for dessserts after a meal. I like a nice bakery treat, to be sure, but prefer them alone (with coffee, let’s say) and not after a full meal. We decided to order dessert (a peaches and cream bread pudding) on Friday. Simply because it was Valentine’s Day. We were disappointed. Quite a bit so. We would both have enjoyed an extra bread basket much more. Given the choice between homemade bread or a baked good, I will always pick the bread. Just sayin. Oh, and the price of desserts in restaurants?? Wow. It was a good “note to self.”
On Saturday, I attended a baby shower for a longtime family friend. The new mama is the daughter of one of my good friends….that I used to babysit. When she was just past being a baby herself. How could she possibly be expecting her own baby? Goodness but I was reminded that I am getting old. Reality check aside, it was a lovely morning. The shower was held at the church we attended for many years. I was able to see many old friends and really enjoyed chatting and catching up. I made some dinner plans to visit with some friends more in the weeks ahead.
Sunday was spent at church and there may or may not have been a nice Sunday nap in the afternoon. And, just like that, we are back to Monday morning. I hope you have a plan here or there for something nice this week. I’m glad you stopped by and hope you will leave me a comment to say hello. Even if snow ends up in your forecast, find a reason to do a happy dance this week. Excuse me as I resume my own dance here!!:)
Good morning, Jennifer. We’ve been up in NY’s Adirondack mountains this weekend … and oh the snow, the winds, the frigid cold. A truly beautiful corner of the world … especially when we’re dressed from head to toe for it.
You’ve warmed me up with your welcoming photo. Thanks, friend!
I would need to be so bundled – from head to toe – I probably would not be able to move!! Glad you enjoyed a nice mountain vacation:)
Good Monday morning to you, as well, Jennifer! xx
Your weekend sounds lovely. I love it that you were able to be free of the predicted snow and that you are enjoying the fact by doing a happy dance. I think we may have gotten your snow…not 10 inches of it, but a few, along with rain and ice. Tuesday-Wednesday we are supposed to get more snow. But I know that spring is not far off now.
That butternut squash ravioli sounds divine! I’m sorry your peaches and cream bread pudding was a disappointment. We’ve had a few disappointments like that too. I seldom get dessert when we eat out anymore because most places in our area do not offer gluten free desserts.
Hope you have a wonderful week, my friend!
I hope your snow inches are already melting…unless, of course, you really like snow! There are many who do (go figure)! So glad you stopped by, Dianna!!
Good morning, Jennifer. We got 3-4 inches of snow yesterday, but the roads are dry today, so that’s good. We had to cancel church, but we had a nice quiet day at home. It sounds like you had a really nice weekend. And I hope we both are done with the snow until next winter. lol Have a great day!
I am with you on not wanting or feel the need to eat dessert after a filling meal. I appreciate dessert more on a not so full stomach :). We got snow Saturday and into Sunday. Most churches around here were canceled including ours (which seemed a bit surprising as most don’t consider three inches of snow a major storm- at least those of us not in the bona fide South anyway). I’m happy for you that you didn’t get any and that you had a lovely weekend filled with good food and fellowship. I hope your Monday is going well!
Glad your weather is better. Sounds like a nice Valentine’s Day. So sorry about the dessert. I haven’t been to a baby shower in years. They are always nice. Glad you went to church and enjoyed your nap. Take Care
I wonder why I have to fill in my name, email and blog information each time I post here.
Pleasant post, Jennifer. I’m glad you avoided snow and that what you had got washed away with rain. That is, as you said, “a clean slate.”
As for the weather here, sunny and cooler. I’m wearing socks and long jeans today — true “winter” clothing choices in Florida, and only for a few days at a time!
Blessings.
Hee Hee ~ that is cute about your happy dance.
Happy New Week!
Carla
Sounds like the week is turning out well so far for you, Jennifer. I do hope you have seen the last of the snow and Spring is just around the corner in your part of the world. Lovely to share in the joy of a new baby life.
Enjoy the rest of your week.
No snow here, its a rare occurrence but its been cold.. Our daffodils are just beginning to flower so spring is already here.. and I want it warmer, hate the cold.
Sounds like a lovely weekend! We rarely order desserts in restaurants, they are SO expensive! Hope you are doing well.
