A Summer Themed Would You Rather

Welcome to Friday:)  I hope it has been a quiet week for everyone.  It has been a good week here.  Yesterday’s infusion appointment went well.  Smooth as butter actually.  I am grateful. It has also been a hot week here!  Temperatures have been over 90 degrees for several days in a row and summer is showing a bit of its pesky side.  I try not to complain (trying to retain my title as summer’s number fan – at least, over those over the age of 50!) but I will admit that I am oh so grateful for air conditioning!!  This month’s Ten on the Tenth link-up is all about summer and, even if I am way late to the party, I thought it might be both appropriate and fun.  The questions are all “Would you rather” type questions so this will be just be for laughs.  When the heat soars, sometimes the brain can only handle non-sensical things:)

That said, a couple of the questions required just a bit too much imagination for me (something that has never been a strong point of mine) and I left those out.  Just sayin….there will not be ten.  But, let’s move forward.

1 – Would you rather you get up early to see the sunrise or stay up late to see the sunset?  Anyone who knows me even just a little bit knows I am a total morning person!  I love the sunrise although I don’t “see” it too terribly often.  Most mornings, I let the sun wake me up which is wonderful…so, technically it has risen before I get out of bed.  This morning’s first rays came through the bedroom window just after 5:30!  Also, as beautiful as the sunset may be, if I have to “stay up late” for it….well, I will probably miss it.

2 – Would you rather wear sneakers or flip flops?  I am not a flip flops fan (cute alliteration there!)  Have never really understood the appeal.  They are not comfortable and, personally, I don’t think they are that attractive.  However, I’m well aware that many would disagree with me.  That’s okay.  We can still be friends.

3 – Would you rather wear a tutu to the beach or a tiara to the pool?  True story.  On the Fourth of July, I saw a grown woman wearing a red, white and blue tutu….over a pair of woefully small bike shorts.  I suppose she thought it was festive.  Or patriotic.  Actually, it was just not pretty.  I know, for certain, tutus are for ballerinas.  Especially cute little five year old ballerinas just learning to dance.  So cute!  No tutu for me (or my backside)!

4 – Would you rather live in a treehouse or on a boat?  I’ve watched enough British television (think the Chelsea Detective or Beyond Paradise) to be enamored with living on a houseboat.  I would just have to be sure I would not get be sick every day.  I tend to get seasick so that might not make the most ideal living situation.  But living on a boat does seem adventurous, fun and even romantic!

5 – Would you rather camp in yurt or a camper?  This girl does NOT go camping.  At all. Ever.

6 – Would you rather walk barefoot in the grass or barefoot on the sand?  Not to sound wimpy, but I really do not enjoy going barefoot.  At least not outside.  I suppose, given the choice, I would choose the sand.  A walk on the beach is so much fun….and is about the only way I endure (er, enjoy) the sand.  Of course, a walk on the beach in order to watch the sunrise?  Perfect!!:)

7 – Would you rather go water skiing or water tubing?  I honestly don’t know.  I have never tried either and I personally know folks who have been (rather seriously) injured doing both of those….so I’m not exactly eager to try either one.  But I think tubing seems like my best bet.

8 – Would you rather go on a hot air balloon ride or a helicopter tour?  Again, the hot air balloon just does not seem safe.  Maybe I am just getting old, although I have never been adventurer or a thrill seeker.  But a tour by way of helicopter sounds like a lot of fun – especially over the Hawaiian islands.  That I should add to my “bucket list.”  Of course, I would be thrilled simply to visit Hawaii even if my feet stayed on the ground the whole time.  Just sayin.

Well, I hope that gave you a few smiles as you head into the weekend.  Whatever your summer weather is looking like right now, enjoy your weekend.  Make some summer memories….and come back on Monday!

  1. I had to giggle at some of those questions 🙂 And all the ones that take risky courage…not for me! I’ve never tried to ski or tube, or wouldn’t go in a balloon or a helicopter. I’m perfectly happy watching others from the ground and praying for their safe return 🙂

I am not a cheap flip flop person, but do wear sandals year round 🙂 It’s Texas and we can do that.
Also, I hope I never see a grown woman in a tutu! Seeing all the women walking around in stretchy pants that look painted on, has scarred my eyes for life already. That’s a whole other topic!

    1. A whole other topic…indeed! Actually, I do not wear sneakers often either. Definitely a sandals kind of a girl!

  2. Fun questions and I like your witty answers!! I agree with you on many. Flip flops are a hard no for me. I have found myself wearing Birkenstock slides more than I ever thought I would. They are slip on, socks are not required and they are quite comfy. Now they are not attractive in the least bit so if cuteness is a look I’m going for, they are out. And if I’m going to be walking a decent bit, then I would chose sneakers. I agree with many of your other answers. I think both a hot air balloon ride and helicopter ride sound a bit dangerous but I would be up for doing either if someone close to me wanted to do either. I would just likely not initiate such an endeavor. Totally agree about Hawaii. We girls can dream, right??

  3. Some of these questions made me laugh. I wear flip flops in my house, but I never wear them out. I use them as my slippers in the summertime. I also love wearing sandals, so I am definitely not a tennis shoe girl. I can’t really wear them comfortably because of the fact that I’ve broken the same bone in the same foot twice. I can wear slip on shoes to walk in that are similar to tennis shoes, but I can’t have anything too restrictive over the top of that foot. I love the Hey Dudes brand for this and can (and have) walked for miles in them. I’m a chicken, so many of these scenarios are not even appealing to me!

  4. I think you and I would be friends if we met in real life – my answers echo yours!
We have just returned from Sicily where the temperatures are soaring – I’m pleased to be home in a much more cooler UK. We don’t have air conditioning in our homes here as the amount of time the temperatures go above 30 is very small but when it does you will find me next to the fan trying to cool down. How on earth would you manage without air con over there?

    1. Yes, Deb, I too think we would be friends in real life:) Always enjoy visiting your blog and when you stop by here as well!! Oh, and yes – AC is a tremendous blessing!:)

  5. Yep, I’d be just as happy to explore Hawaii on foot! LOL. Funny that I think my flip flops are my most comfortable shoes hands down. A day or week of walking at Disney? Flip Flops! Touring a new city on foot? Flip Flops! LOL.

    1. I am impressed that you can walk anywhere – especially for long stretches at a time – in flip flops! That is a special talent!!
