Hello friends….yes, I am a bit late this morning but that’s okay. Just back from a few days away and, then, getting my ducks back in a row this morning. But I thought I would still join the Hodge Podge fun today. Let’s dive right in (I haven’t even looked at the questions)….
1. Do you make an effort to see/hear live music? Last time you went somewhere for the live music? I won’t say I make a huge effort for live music. I’m not necessarily opposed to live music but it is not something I seek out. For several summers, I did keep up with the schedule at a local outdoor pavilion. They often had music and/or bands (several of the military bands, for example) that interested us. But recently the schedule changed quite a bit and included nothing that appealed to us. Which is a shame as we really enjoyed evenings at dusk with our friends here. There are a couple of Christmas concerts in our area (both locally and in DC) that we look forward to each year. I guess last Christmas would be the last concert we attended.
2.According to HGTV the colors of the year for 2026 are mostly decided. (check out the link here to see photos)
- Sherwin Williams-universal khaki (inspired by heavy canvas and outdoor gear)
- Behr-hidden gem (a confident shade of teal)
- Valspar-warm eucylyptus (a warm sliver tinted green)
- Dutch Boy-melodious ivory (a honey tinted beige)
- Glidden-warm mahogany (a classic brick red)
- Krylon-matte coffee bean
- Clark and Kensington -Hazelnut Crunch (warm reddish-brown)
- Graham and Brown-Divine Damson (cherry red with a subtle violet undertone)
- Dunn and Edwards-midnight garden (the green that works everywhere)
Which color on the list most appeals to you in terms of your own decorating style? Several of them are pretty but the warm eucylptus is oh so beautiful. I would love to find something in my house to paint that color. Which color name appeals to you most? Hazelnut Crunch:)
3. What’s something in your life you have to do-watch-or participate in that’s about as exciting as ‘watching paint dry’? I honestly cannot think of anything. As I said, we are just back from an easy roadtrip. Easy in that it was not far. About three hours by car. But we both agreed, roadtrips are not our favorite. At least not the driving. Three hours (maybe four) is about my limit. Watching the miles tick by is definitely about as exciting as watching paint dry! I suppose doing our taxes would be up there as well. But I have another few months before I have to think about that.
4 . Tuesday, October 14th is/was National Dessert day…did you/will you celebrate? Tell us how? What’s your absolute favorite dessert. Yes, just one. I know!! I had no idea…so I did not celebrate. That is probably all for the best. Favorite dessert would probably be bread pudding. We have a local restaurant that has a monthly bread pudding. What an amazing idea!!
5. Perhaps today is the day I will _________________. See my handsome son again and hug his neck!! He is on the last day of his return trip from California. Talk about watching miles tick by! But he doesn’t seem to mind (or has a much better attitude than I); however, he is eager to be done at the this point. He has been driving about eight hours (or so) each day but, in order to get home without another stop, he will have to drive several hours longer today. Way too much time on the road for me…but I think he’s up for it!! Yes, I am excited!
6. Insert your own random thought here. We were away for a few days. Had a really nice time. This morning, as I do anytime after being away, I have to putz around and get my ducks back in a row. Not that they were even scattered. But it is what I do. Including cleaning out and/or straightening the refrigerator. I have no idea why I do this, but my heart is at ease and my mind rests easy once I refresh the fridge. Go figure. Also interesting: when we get back home, my husband unpacks and puts all of his things away within 20 minutes. No exaggeration. Me? I never unpack until the next morning. The two of us are so similar in many ways but unpacking and priorities once home are not one of them:) We did both very much enjoy Lancaster. I will share a few photos on Friday but here’s just one……

Hazelnut crunch was also the name that appealed to me!
And I also could honestly not think of an answer to the “watching paint dry” question.
My dad loved bread pudding and so I often prepared it for him. I enjoy it too but it’s not my favorite dessert (I couldn’t think of just one). A place serving various varieties of bread pudding would be amazing!
I like to unpack immediately and usually start some laundry too. I enjoy a road trip but don’t want to drive more than 8 hours in a day anymore. We usually listen to books on audible and that helps pass the time. I like bread pudding but it’s usually too heavy for me. I like my hubs to order and then I can have a bite or two. Hope your son is safely home.
I thought the eucalyptus color was pretty, but there won’t be any painting here unless I make a barn square or something like that. We have knotty pine tongue ‘n groove boards covering our walls. I’m not a fan of bread pudding (or any other kind of pudding). It is hard to only pick one, but I’m going with brownies. Happy Wednesday, Jennifer!
I really don’t travel, but when I go anywhere, I tend to come home and “put things right” as soon as I can.
The older I get I seem to become more of a secluded homebody and I wish I could love to travel because there really are so many great places to see and my kids LOVE going places. I’m glad you had a nice time in Lancaster. Hazelnut Crunch does sound like a great color and it sounds delicious too (haha). Enjoy the rest of your week!!!!
Oh Jennifer, you had me right at the top with all those ducks in a row. Wonderful!
Jennifer, I am so glad that you back. I’m glad that you had a nice trip. I hope your son’s trip back was a safe one. I know your mama’s heart is happy.
