Happy Monday, friends! I hope you had a nice weekend. I told myself that this post would not include any references to either my hearing or to the weather. Well, nothing about my hearing…but, goodness, it is hard to overlook the weather. It just seems to play a part in almost everyone’s days lately. So much snow in places that just are not used to snow!?! Although we are further north on the east coast, there were only sunny skies for us this weekend. Mind you, it was chilly (um, cold!) but it was snow-free weekend and that is a win in my book. With these frigid temperatures, the mountains of snow that fill the parking lots, spill over into the roadways and line every inch of streets and the interstate will not be going anywhere (or even starting to shrink) anytime soon. But I am grateful we were able to get out and about all weekend without trouble. It was good to be back in church. We had a fun “snowman day” in Junior Church as well!
Was your weekend just as cold?? It is hard to believe that we have turned another calendar page and February has arrived!! I’m not sure how many Valentine inspired posts I will have on the blog this year but I do look forward to seeing what others have to share. I did come across this recipe for a Starbucks copycat “February” drink that I shared several years ago. It calls for a half cup of milk which kind of makes all the other flavors, well, very mild. If you really want to enjoy the cherry and/or the mocha flavor, you might want to add more of those ingredients. Or less milk. But it does look fancy with its whipped creme, sprinkles, and smattering of chocolate chips. Who even needs the coffee?? Maybe it will get my Valentine creative juices flowing. They seem to be frozen at the moment. Like pretty much everything around here:)
If you decide to give it a try, let me know. Fancy coffee or no coffee – here’s to a wonderful week ahead!!
INGREDIENTS
- 1 K-Cup dark roast variety brewed
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp maraschino cherry juice
- 1/2 cup of milk, warmed
- 1 tsp mini chocolate chips for topping
- 2 tbsp Reddi Whip for topping
- red sprinkles for garnish
INSTRUCTIONS
-
Brew 8 ounces of dark roast, strong coffee. Choose a flavor that will stand up against the other ingredients.
-
Add cocoa powder, cherry juice, and warmed milk. Stir well, until blended.
-
Top with whipped cream, mini chocolate chips, and red sprinkles.
Happy February, Jennifer! While I am a coffee drinker, I will pass on your recipe as I am not a fan of stuff added to my coffee other than a splash of half & half and a smidge of sugar. That being said, I do love a good peppermint mocha. Enjoy this first Monday in this brand new month.
Half & half with a smidge of sweetener is my go-to for coffee as well. Sometimes I try to be fancy…but I’m not really fancy:)
YES, it was and still is COLD!!! We’re cold indoors, the heat can’t keep up. Am about to make a cup of tea to help myself warm up. Took an extra long shower yesterday that also helped me to warm up. Not perhaps the best thing to do environmentally. Can’t believe it’s February already, time flies by. Spotted you on a mutual friends blog and thought I’d pop in for a visit. It’s always fun to meet new bloggers. Try to stay warm and no slipping on the snow and ice.
So glad you stopped by…and thanks for leaving a comment. I love meet new bloggers! I look forward to visiting your space as well!
Happy Monday to you! I just finished my morning coffee, but I am interested in trying your recipe sometime. I jokingly say I drink cream with a splash of coffee, so your recipe might turn into a favorite.
I’m in the heartland of America with 5ft snow drifts and frigid temps. I was able to get out this weekend and go to church. Praise God!
Hooray for getting out to church this weekend! Five foot snow drifts? That is a lot of snow! Keep warm:)
Damp and grey here today but thankfully no snow. The drink looks like a fun recipe to try.
Have a great start to February and may The Lord be with you.
Beverley, I think I would take damp and gray (with no snow) right about now!! Glad you stopped by today!!
Was our weekend cold? Does -14 degrees F count? 🙂 But we didn’t get any of the snow that was predicted for us and that was a win. We are supposed to get some tomorrow though.
If I were a coffee drinker, I would certainly give your recipe a try. it all sounds delicious, except for the “coffee” part. Oye.
Negative degrees….ugh!! It does seem to be a bit milder today. Let’s enjoy each day as it comes!:)
OH my! It’s been super cold here for 2 weeks now! I can live with the snow as long as there is sunshine and double digit temps! This below zero is for the birds! LOL! Hope you are staying warm. mmmm that coffee sounds delicious! Thanks for sharing!
Below zero is, indeed, for the birds!! LOL
I was in Texas for the weekend and it was much colder there than it is usually :(. On the other hand, it was warmer there than it was here in Ohio so… I really needed to focus on the positive which I did for the most part. Your drink sounds really good for coffee drinkers! Maraschino cherry juice in almost anything makes the thing sound palatable. Unfortunately, coffee is one of those things that the addition of anything to does not make me want to try it!
Yes, Maria, I am trying my best to focus on the positive!! I loved your Texas photos, by the way!!
We had snow on the ground before this big snowstorm that came through last weekend. This past weekend was just bitterly cold (windchills -20). We are getting some snow showers again right now, but we won’t have much accumulation. It’s supposed to snow again on Friday. I am very much ready for spring this year. Have a great week!
Snow again!?! Enough with the snow in the forecast…although I do not think there is any for us. At least, not any time soon! Hang in there, Cindy. Spring will come!!:)
Happy February! We are in for unseasonably warm weather here – very much like early spring. I’m not complaining, but typically we get an ice storm in mid-February to cause havoc. Here in central Texas, Bee Cave Bob the armadillo predicted we would only get another 3 weeks of winter…wouldn’t that be nice? ha ha

Gina, I had no idea Texas had their own spring predictor. Bob the armadillo! That is too funny:)
Oh yes, it was another freezing cold weekend here too but it “warmed up” so much today and almost hit 30!
Today was (a smidge) over 40!!?! Whoa buddy!:)
My weekend was sunny and mild. Today was in the 70’s! I can’t complain! I like my coffee black and strong. I’m glad I never got into all the fancy coffees. I had a friend who on the back from driving her kids to school would go to the drive through coffee kiosk and wondered why she was gaining weight! It was hard for her to give it up!
I hope you all warm up soon.
Oh Debby, in the 70s. That sounds just blissful to me! The 70s are the temperatures of Heaven, in my opinion! Do enjoy it…for all of us!!:)
Oh I love all the hearts up top, Jennifer! Thanks for turning my thoughts toward Valentine’s Day and love and celebration and all those good things.
What joy!
Aw, thanks Linda. Every little splash of joy helps (in February)!! Glad you stopped by today!
We too had no new snow but we have so much old snow on the ground that is in no mood to melt. The temps are in the frigid territory.
Thanks for sharing the coffee recipe.. though I don’t really like to mess around with me coffee.. I like in simple and black.
Hena – glad you stopped by today. I just cannot imagine drinking my coffee black. I probably wouldn’t bother…which may or may not be a good thing!!
