Happy Monday morning, friends! I hope everyone had a good weekend. We were rather productive, which always puts a check in the win column, and we had a great dinner on Saturday with friends we have not seen in months. A double win for the weekend. We went to a local Italian place and we were not disappointed. I had eggplant parmesan which was good, don’t get me wrong, but I think authentic Italian restaurants just (sorta/kinda) call for ordering pasta. So many delicious pasta dishes on the menu (granted, most of them are the same ingredients with different shaped pasta…but still) and I chose vegetables. Why? For one, the server recommended it. Both I and one of our friends asked the server to recommend our dinner. Basically, to choose for us. I think servers probably hate that. If a diner asks whether the lasagna is any good….are they really going to say it is not? She has probably never even tried the eggplant parmesan. Oh well. Of course, there is always pizza. And the pizza at this place is made in a brick oven and is delicious. We already have plans to go back next month (our friends loved the restaurant as well) and I am having pizza!!
The weekend was productive in that we replaced the bathroom lights in our master bath and replaced the kitchen faucet as well. The lights were outdated and not in good shape. They were original to the house and desperately needed to go. The faucet was not as old, although we had gotten our money’s worth, to be sure, but it had started to rot underneath (why??) and was ever so slowly dripping and leaking under the sink. Both were “small” changes (not inexpensive changes, but still…) but both made a big impact. We were happy to get those tasks done. And I think we have settled on a new color for the bathroom cabinets. Hopefully, painting them will start soon. My husband will be doing that job and he enjoys painting about as much as I do. Which is not a lot. He has to be inspired. So, I am hoping inspiration will hit soon:)
My brother sent me a photo of a redbud tree in his apartment complex. Redbuds are my favorite! Of course, he lives in California now and, well, the signs of spring are a bit ahead of us here on the East Coast. But his photo was just enough of a reminder for me. Spring is coming. I made that picture the screensaver on my phone over the weekend. I just keep reminding myself – winter is almost history!! Soon, we will planting pots for the porch, laying fresh mulch and watching the birds return to the yard in search of the perfect tree for building a nest. Oh – and, before I know it, it will be cherry blossom season. Around here (the nation’s capital), the cherry blossoms are a big deal. A beautiful big deal, to be sure!
Enough about spring to come. What does your week, this week, look like? I have a few fun things planned. Pi Day is later this week and, of course, St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner. I thought I would have a little fun with both…and hope to share the fun later this week. So, I hope you will come back to the blog. I plan to post on both Wednesday and Friday – so please stop by again. And let me know if you are seeing the signs of spring near you. Have a blessed week, friends!!
We are seeing signs of spring! The azaleas are starting to bloom. But now it’s back in the 40’s! The weather is so confused and so are we 🙂 I am laughing at the idea of asking the server if a certain dish is good. I always do this and then realize that most aren’t going to say something is bad. Although I’ve had them admit to never trying something before. And what you said about pasta being the same, just different shapes…that’s what my husband always says about Mexican food. He said it’s the exact same dish, just rolled in a tortilla or a crispy shell. It’s all the same to him. I can’t really argue with that 🙂
Have a wonderful week!
I have to agree with your hubby – Mexican is all pretty much the same:) Guess that is why it is all pretty much delicious!:) Hope you have a great week, Debbie!
I am so looking forward to spring here in Missouri. This week will be very spring like… in the 70’s. Sound like you had a wonderful dinner with friends and it’s always good to be a little productive. Hope you have a fun week with Pi day coming and St. Patrick’s day!
Can you believe it – the 70s??! It is going to be blissful!:)
We have been seeing signs of spring here in Central Florida for weeks — gotta watch quick before summer slams us with the heat and humidity. One of our neighbors has what I think must be a red bud tree and it’s been really showing off, to my delight.
As for this week’s activities, we’re buying a new toaster and painting polyurethane on the new foot bridge that was assembled over the weekend. My birthday is next weekend, so cards, etc for that are trickling in.
I look forward to seeing what you’ll do with Pi day!
How exciting – the birthday cards are already starting to arrive! I hope you enjoy each one…and all that leads up to your fun day!! You reminded me – we need a new toaster. I think the one we have is that we received as a wedding gift. As in decades ago!! Oh my –
It is very satisfying to get those little jobs done that have been hanging around for a while. I’m sure those bathroom cabinets will look great when they have been painted up too.
This week, one of the bigger jobs we need to do is to re-line our pond. The frogs are sulking at the moment but I hope we will be forgiven for updating their home.
Wishing you Spring weather and happy days x
Hello Jennifer! I was away from blogging last week (with bronchitis) but I am trying to catch up on blog reading today. It looks as though you had a wonderful weekend! Two house projects accomplished and a delicious meal out with friends! That’s a win for sure!
Hope your week is a good one.
Spring is here and we have daffodils flowering, the beautiful bright yellow are everywhere.
my nephew’s birthday is pi day! Exciting! We are having such lovely weather and I’m hoping to do two walks today just so I can be outside. We are getting little things done around the house because we have company coming soon.
Pie Day! Of course! That explains why people were buying so many pies at the pie store yesterday. I was there to purchase a couple pies for my birthday on Monday…
What’s on my agenda? Pushing myself to have enough energy to do some organizing and cleaning before my friend arrives Saturday for a quick overnight.
Good luck on the painting!
I too, am excited for spring! The sunshine and birdsong do wonders for my spirit. And next year, I may have to try a “Pi Day!” Thanks, Jennifer.
