Happy Monday, friends! I hope your weekend was blessed. We had a break in our temperatures and the weekend proved to be absolutely beautiful! Not sure you could ask for more lovely weather here in the middle of August….and the timing was perfect as we had several outdoor events. We attended a wedding on Saturday afternoon and the reception was outside. So glad that was not last Saturday as I am sure everyone would have melted but not this weekend.
On Saturday evening, we went downtown to meet my brother. We were celebrating his birthday (which was yesterday). Did I get a photo of the birthday boy? Of course not (sigh) but I did get a few fun shots of downtown. With such great weather, there was no shortage of “action” – and boats!! – at the harbor. We walked along the water before dinner. There were several really large boats but, after dinner, a yacht had pulled in and all I can say is, “wow!” It seemed awkward to take a photo (of the boat or the staff that was working topside) but it was huge.
The restaurant is located across the harbor from the Kennedy Center. I took my photo early on but later in the evening, the Center was illuminated in the yellow and blue colors of Ukraine. It was very pretty. We had a delicious meal and a wonderful evening….and we even maneuvered the route back to the highway after we missed one turn. It’s a labyrinth downtown but we managed. The Lincoln Memorial looked so pretty at night and I tried to snap a photo as we were driving by. The steps were full of folks enjoying a pretty summer night!
Here’s to a good week ahead. I hope you will stop by again on Wednesday or Friday. Here’s a “thought for your week” to take with you. I’ve been rehearsing this one quite a bit lately. For what it is worth:
God is looking for my availability…..not my ability
So many good things! First, I love the changes you’ve made here on the blog. They were noticeable right away and they all look great, including that picture of you! I know that’s not something you’re always comfortable with, but I just wanted you to know that I noticed the changes and that I love them all. ❤ What a great weekend! You live in such a beautiful area…have I ever mentioned that when vacationed there way back when, that it was my favorite vacation ever? I just love all the beautiful buildings and parks and such. I know I’d maybe feel different if I lived there, but I know you must enjoy going into the downtown area from time to time. You’ve been to a lot of weddings this summer! I’m glad the weather cooled off for you- it did the same for us here this weekend! Praise! I was shocked to feel cool weather each morning this weekend. I love a harbor with lots of boats! I always take pictures of that kind of thing as well. What a gorgeous location for a wedding. I hope you have a wonderful day, my friend!
Thanks friend….here’s to a great week ahead!!
That sounds like the perfect weekend! Sounds like you had a wonderful time. Here’s to more weekends like that!
I’ll second that!!
I’m glad you had such a good weekend! Our weather was incredible as well. What a blessing! Is the picture you posted of the Kennedy Center? I am not knowledgeable of DC historic sites, unfortunately (I’ve never been ;(). I hope you have a wonderful Tuesday!
Yes, it is. The “drive-by” one is the Jefferson Memorial (the one during daylight is the Kennedy Center).
