Trading my ashes for beauty….that He might be glorified. Isaiah 61:3
Who am I? A wife for almost 40 years. A mom for over 36 years. A sister and a friend, of course. Each of these help describe me. But, even more, I have been a Christian since accepting Him as my Savior when I was 12 years old and, this truth defines each area of my life. I have enjoyed some mountain top experiences but have been through some very deep valleys as well. Valleys of incredible grief and even pits of depression. However, most of my days are ordinary, routine kind of days. But in every one of my days, God has been faithful. He has walked with me whatever the day. He strengthens, comforts, encourages and blesses me with life "most abundant."
A favorite life verse: The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. John 10:10
Why do I write? Though not quite as private as my dad, I am definitely my father's daughter. I find it difficult to share. And to let others in. But I do love to write. I love to put words into sentences and sentences in paragraphs that help express my thoughts. I hope my words help me share my heart. Share the life that God has given me and all that He has done for me and through me. I write with the hope of giving Him at least a bit of the glory He is due.
A verse to guide my writing: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ. I Peter 1:7

Happy Monday! I hope you had an enjoyable weekend. We attended a wedding – which was absolutely lovely – on Friday night and, on Saturday, I joined a small group of family and friends to help my senior friend continue her birthday celebration. It was a very “social” weekend and very nice. However, I’m looking forward to this new week and, especially, a fresh Monday to stay home and recharge my introverted self:)
On Friday, I joined a “new to me” link-up…and, truth be told, I almost did not. The post I wrote was…well, outside of my comfort zone and I felt completely unsure about posting it. I even considered taking it down. Not exactly sure why other than I totally overthink the silliest things. (Other things that probably warrant extra thinking, I don’t give a second thought.) Anyhoo, the link-up was so enjoyable and I met several new bloggers this weekend. Note to self (for the 300th time) – get out of that comfort zone every once and a while!! Have you stepped outside of your comfort zone lately?? I thought it was going to be easier to do in this new decade of life! Hmmm –
As the new week begins, I thought I would leave you with this quote that I read this week. It is worth “chewing over” throughout the week ahead. Have a blessed week friends. Come back on Wednesday. I will be doing my monthly “Currently” post which I thought was no longer going to happen – imagine my surprise (and delight!) when I discovered my blogging friend, Jen, was going to continue it!!
“Whatever we have, we have because God, in His grace and generosity, has given it to us. When we realize this, there comes into our life a joyful gratitude for what we do have, and we are freed from resentment and anxiety over what we do not have.” Ben Patterson
Yay for getting out of your comfort zone! Funny that you should say that- I wrote a little about that today in my own Monday blog post. Great minds…I think we’ve said that before! I’ll have to go read your post from Friday, I missed it somehow. I’m glad you’ll be doing a currently post! I left the link open the whole month in case anyone wanted to join in later. I’m taking suggestions for prompts for the months to come! 😉 I’m glad you had a nice weekend and that you’re having a quiet day at home to recharge. I feel every bit of that sentiment. I, on the other hand, have a dental cleaning at 9 today..what the heck was I thinking???
No one should go to the dentist first thing in the morning! Hope all goes well, though. The dentist is not my friend – ha!! (poor dentist)
Fellow introvert here so I can relate to anticipating a nice, quiet day at home ;). Your weekend plans sound nice though. I mean, if you’re going to be social, celebrating a lovely wedding and a dear friend’s birthday are among the best ways to be social, I think. I need to work on being more joyfully grateful for what I have rather than focus on what I don’t have but would like. Social media is not the best for this endeavor- I need to pray about it. Thanks for the food for thought on this Monday morning. I hope you have a great day!
Social media is a true joy – and gratitude – drainer!! A truth for all of us to remember – especially as we find ourselves getting sucked into the vortex!:) Here’s to some introvert recharging!:)
Yay you for getting out of your comfort zone!
