Yes, God blessed our day together. I pray that yours was as well. I would love to hear about your day – and to know what your holiday menu consisted of. I use this blog for reference and next year…when my mind is a total blank…I would love some great ideas to look back to for inspiration. I had the hardest time coming up with ideas this year. I wanted a simple menu that could be set out buffet style and would “hold up” for awhile so guests could graze throughout the day. I ended up putting together a buffet around BBQ sliders (which were delicious!) and a Pampered Chef sandwhich ring stand-by recipe that was a huge hit. Both were yummy but nothing special. So, always looking for good ideas.
And, don’t forget to let me know what your special gift was this year:) I was spoiled – again – but I really love my Willow Tree nativity. I have wanted one for quite awhile and I love it! Its a shame really that it is almost time to put away the Christmas decorations. In fact, I just might leave this out for a bit.
Looking forward to visiting your blogs – and hearing about your Christmas.
So glad to hear of your wonderful Christmas! The buffet sounded so good along with the family and friend time. I don't want to get sick, but love your attitude about letting it go sometimes. Thanks for sharing such a special time.
I think I could have benefited from "letting it go" for sure…I've posted our Christmas so you can read what happened, haha. I am soo glad you had a good one. How exciting on your new nativity. Post a pic of it….I got these carolers that I have had my eye on for years…they are soo darling and I love them for some reason, but I would have NEVER bought them for myself as they are just soo expensive, but my hubby went and did it…I am with you, I may leave them up for a while…at least until New Years. (I will go back to my post and put a pic of them up just for you, lol) Hope you are totally back to normal. My poor mom is REALLY sick…and soo many have colds I am not sure how I have escaped, but so far so good. LOVE YOU!
Hi Jennifer,
So happy to hear you had such a delightful Christmas. Yea, sometimes those times of being sick are blessings in disquise. Some times the Lord is just saying time to slow down and take it slow and easy.
Our Christmas was Wonderful as well.
We all had a great time, and the Lord just blessed us beyond belief. He never ceases to amaze me.
Take Care sweet friend,
Love ya, Nellie
Congratulations on expecting a grandson! How exciting. 🙂
Our Christmas was very low key and quite unusual with a variety of challenging circumstances. But the food was great. 🙂 Our Christmas Eve finger foods included bacon-wrapped chicken bites, bacon-wrapped cheese-stuffed jalapenos, spinach dip, mini hot ham n' cheese sandwiches (on dinner rolls), crab dip, and quite a few other dips and things. Yum!
I'm so glad you had a wonderful day with your family.
Mark and I didn't exchange gifts this year, but we did go to a Christmas Eve service at our church. It was so special to be there with my hubby and children.
I'm glad you had a good Christmas, and green with envy about the Willowtree Nativity.
Two menus here, as we had two get togethers Christmas week (see blog for details). One was corned beef with cabbage, boiled potatoes, steamed carrots, french bread and various cold relishes, and birthday cake for dessert.
The other was glazed ham, mashed potatoes, steamed carrots, green beans with bacon, french bread, various cold relishes, and pies and cookies for dessert.
These were both easy meals–the corned beef cooked overnight in crock pots, and the other dishes "held" well in either a crock pot set on low or in the buffet insert of the Nesco.
I've missed your blog visits lately!
A co-worker has been giving me Willow Tree angels for Christmas every year. I like them 🙂
We had too much to eat of course, but I made it very easy on myself.
Precooked & sliced brisket from Sam's – heated in the crock pot
rolls – homemade but leftover from a couple days before
coconut cream pie – from scratch IN THE MICROWAVE!!! (store bought crust)
and miscellaneous baked goods
Happy New Year!!!!
I've always loved the Willow Tree Nativity…what a blessing you received it 🙂
Thank you for stopping by to visit me…I really appreciate it!
We spent our Christmas at the home of our daughter's boyfriend's grandparents. We had ham, rolls, asparagus casserole, scalloped potatoes, plantanes (not sure if I spelled it correctly), strawberry spinach salad and egg custard or pecan pie for dessert.
All the best to you and your family in 2011.
My Christmas was good, although I wasn't feeling well. This year, I treated myself to a Lisa Leonard bracelet, inscribed with the "word" for the year. I hope to write about it in the coming days.
Hope you're feeling better by now; blessings to you as you move into the promises of a new year.
