Welcome to my blog and welcome to Friday. Time to wrap up March (as far as monthly blog posts go) and, so, time for this month’s Share Four Somethings. I know this monthly post always begins with “things I have loved” and I really, really want to yammer on about the weather, but I have to admit, I have done that a lot lately. So, no weather talk. Oh, this might be tricky, but let’s get started. Don’t forget the entire link-up can be found here starting tomorrow. Now,
some things I have loved – we finally got new curtains! It has been (far too many) years since I took down our red and black plaid custom-made valance boards (that were quite cute) with the intention of replacing them with curtains that better matched the style of our family room. But, somehow, the replacements never materialized. I know, for many, naked windows are trendy and even preferred; however, I like curtains on my windows. I have been unhappy with our naked windows for years. But, no more. You cannot really appreciate the pattern or the pretty color in my picture, but you can at least tell the windows are no longer crying from being so exposed and/or poorly dressed!
some things I have learned – let’s see, a few things I have been reminded of this past month: sunshine is my friend:), breakfast is my favorite meal, exercise is not fun but is essential, Bradford Pear trees are gorgeous, and I’m not really a dog person. That last one is hard to even admit, but I can still be kind, fun and an all around good person (yes, I am exaggerating here) without gushing over all the dogs. And (more specifically) without owning a dog. That is the actual struggle for me. Yes, I am a bit afraid of dogs and will always keep my distance, but what I don’t enjoy is sharing my house with a dog. Or any pet. Very stressful for me.
some things that went well – one of my dearest friends had surgery in March. Finally. From the time something “suspicious” is discovered, biopsied, evaluated with different doctors, etc., etc., well it seems forever until you actually have surgery. But that is finally over and she is cancer free!! I am so grateful not only for friends who walk through life with me, but also for the privilege of walking through things as a friend with others.
something I need to let go of – would definitely be these 3-4 winter pounds that crept on over the winter. Four pounds can easily be dismissed but, if I get to used to them, they will “settle in” (no doubt on my hips!) and it will not be pretty. They have to go. And soon. One would think, with all the sunshine lately, walking and exericising would be easy, but I am so easily distracted is the real truth. Time for more consistency!
And, that’s a wrap. I hope everyone has a great weekend. The cherry blossoms are in full bloom. Our forecast for tomorrow’s temperature includes and 8 (as the first digit!?!) and the air smells like mulch! One of my favorites!! Thanks for stopping by –
I love it when we can get something new for our homes! I’m like you, I don’t care to have naked windows…we live way too close to the road for that! 🙂
I enjoy pets…but we currently don’t have any. And I’m like you, definitely not wanting one that will share the house with me.
I’m so glad that your friend is cancer free now…and how blessed she was to have you as her friend to walk through it all with her.
I have two pounds that I gained over winter and it’s like you said…it’s not much, but if I ignore it now there will be more come around for company.
Those curtains and really pretty and I can totally relate to planning on/thinking you’re going to do something decor wise and then…. not do it for a long time. Obviously decor is not essential and I think that is why it’s easy to put doing it off. I hope you plan to be outside tomorrow (at least before it gets too hot) . And I am totally with you on dogs, too! Enjoy the rest of your day!
What a great meme this is! I’m collecting meme ideas and this one is now added!
I like how you phrased your feelings about dogs:” I can still be kind, fun and an all around good person (yes, I am exaggerating here) without gushing over all the dogs. And (more specifically) without owning a dog.”
While I am a dog person (although my hubby and I have chosen to not own any more of them due to the expense and added upkeep now that we are old ourselves); but I can apply your philosophy about dogs to other [living things — I’ll leave it at that) and not feel guilty about it. Your words have helped to set me free, so to speak, on some things I’ve been thinking about. Thanks for that.
I just love the new curtains. I like bare windows, but like you, I personally like curtains, and I use sheers too. Wishing you a beautiful day my friend.
Hello Jennifer, delightful photos. The view of the sun coming through the window and the one with your new curtains. They are very similar to my pattern. It’s lovely getting something new for the house. I liked your list. they are always a window into who we are and always so interesting. I am happy to hear your friend is recovering well from surgery and that all is free and clear, a relief to be sure. Happy end of March to you my dear friend and thank you for sharing.
I need the sun as well. We are cold today (only 40), but I am finally ready for spring and WAY more sun! I also need to get into a better workout routine, every time I get a few days in, something happens. I am consistently inconsistent, but still getting something (even if it is short) 3-4 days a week, so that’s at least progress. Yay for your friend being cancer free, that is huge! My nephew was diagnosed this month (only 22!) and my mom’s cancer is back as well, it’s such an awful disease (I know you know), and there are so many different cancers and places to get it. Anyway, I hope you have a fabulous week with lots of sunshine!
Oh I have some Winter pounds hanging around. Well actually there are quite a few and all in the wrong places. I need to clean up my diet before the Summer holidays.
So glad to hear that your friend is cancer free now.
