Looking Back….and something new for 2020:)
A new link-up…and a new way to not only look back at the month coming to a close but also to look ahead to what might be on the horizon in the next month. At the end of each month, I’ll share Something Loved, Something Read, Something Treasured and then Something Ahead! I believe the link-up begins tomorrow but, for me…it starts today. For January!
Something Loved. The month started off mild. Pleasantly mild..and I was a happy camper (not that I would ever be a camper)! But the real January has settled in and it has been cold. Extra cold. And when it’s this cold, not only do I tend to become a hermit (which I am working on) but I love all things warm. And toasty. And cozy.
I love the ease of our gas fireplace. Coziness at the flip of a switch:) I love fur-lined slippers, snuggling under fluffy throws on the couch, and all the comfort foods. I also love hot drinks…and I discovered two new ones recently. Barnie’s Coffee and True Honey Tea. The tea I found at a craft bazaar last month and the coffee I discovered through an Instagram post.
I originally ordered a seasonal coffee flavor – which was delicious – so I just received my second order. This time was a Hazelnut flavor and a German Chocolate Cake flavor. Yes, they are as decadent as they sound. There are also several flavors for the tea but I bought Peppermint. The sachet (or tea bag) includes the honey. Just the perfect amount. It is delish. And warm. And a banisher of winter thoughts!!
Something Read. Two quotes I read this month – both that have stuck with me. That I have been meditating on and rehearsing so, no doubt, worth sharing. I won’t elaborate but will simply share and let them affect you. Let me know how they impact you.
“Following Jesus is costly. The best things in life always are.” L. Giglio
“Worship is a continuous, daily decision to live n a way that brings more glory to God than blessings for ourselves.” M. Myers
Something Treasured. This category, I believe, is about gratitude. Something treasured because we are grateful. This month, I had several opportunities to spend time with different friends. With one, I enjoyed brunch in order to celebrate her birthday. We have been friends for decades – since elementary school. That is a gift! With two others, we celebrated a friend’s end to radiation and being cancer-free!! One of these girls I have known for years and another as recently moved back to the area and our friendship has been renewed. Both are also gifts. As well, I had lunch with a “senior” friend, or a friend a bit older than I, but just as much of an encouragement and gift to me. Friends – all unique. All special and, each one enriching my life. I treasure my friendships.
Something Ahead. Well, next month is Valentine’s Day. Did you know? I’m working on the banquet decorations for church – which makes my heart happy. And just a tiny bit stressed. The ideas have seemingly all come together…but that’s just in my head. It should be a fun night regardless. And, speaking of decadent coffee flavors, Barnie’s has a Sweetheart Blend for February. A chocolate-covered cherries type of deliciousness. Seriously, I only drink coffee because the names of the flavored ones just charm me every time.
If Valentine’s Day is not really your thing, Chocolate Cake Day is on Monday!! Oh wait, that is still in January. Oh well…it is still a thing. And still worth celebrating!!:)
I like that you were able to celebrate and connect with so many people this month!
Thanks! It has been really special! Glad you stopped by today:)
I loved reading your “Share Four Somethings.” All the talk of flavoured coffee reminds me that I have some sticky toffee pudding flavour coffee I need to try! I thought it sounded interesting when I bought it but then I was a bit hesitant to try it in case I didn’t like it. I need to get it out and give it a shot!
Sticky toffee pudding coffee!? It certainly sounds delightful:) Flavored coffees are a risk, I will admit, but I certainly have been pleased with the Barnie’s flavored ones!! Have a wonderful week!
So happy to have you join the link-up! I just bought a Valentine’s inspired coffee k-cup variety pack from Aldi. I can’t wait to try all the different chocolate flavors! I also love you Something Read – those quotes are hard hitters!
Heather – a Valentine’s variety pack….that sounds wonderful!!:) I will have to be on the lookout for that!
We’ve not used our fireplace all winter (wood burning and we’ve got to say show-ready) and I miss it. One day I’d love to enjoy the convenience of a gas fireplace.
Love the Myers’ quote! I need to add that to my planner–such a great reminder! 🙂
I agree! And thanks for stopping by!!
