And, just like that, it is the end of another month. I think I say that every month. I know, for sure, I said it in May (as I copied and pasted it here) but having missed the first three weeks of June, well, the end of month (blog speaking) really did sneak up on me! It is time for this month’s Share Four Somethings post. Truth be told, I almost completely forgot about it. I hope I have something to say that is not simply a repeat of last month. We will see. In June, something….
I LOVED – was having two friends invite me to join their Bible study. Or Bible discussion over lunch. It was casual – as in, just friends. But it was also very helpful, instructive and interesting. I was challenged by both of their thoughts and insights. We discussed I Kings 18…the story of Elijah’s showdown on Mount Carmel, a chapter I have read many times. But we “dug in” as we read over the last two weeks and really had good thoughts to share with each other. Apparently, they meet every other week. And they included me again:) Of course, I have also loved the sunshine and long days that are June. I love sunshine! It could even be included in “something that sustained me,” but I suppose I will say something….
THAT SUSTAINED ME – was my sweet family…..especially as I despaired of every feeling completely well again. Yes, I can be dramatic. They were not only patient but encouraging. I love them. There were also quite a bit of Aleve, two rounds of antibiotics and a healthy dose of pain meds sustaining me as well. Just sayin.
I AM CARRYING FORWARD – the fun of getting ready for the big Fourth of July celebration next week! I put out a few things around the house…which I did not photograph yet. I just quickly snapped this one. Here’s looking at you, Maria!:) I did buy two garden flags which actually include “250” but I have not put them out yet. I need to refresh the flowers on the front porch. Spring’s pansies are looking very tired. I was thinking of doing some red, white and blue flowers in my pots. It might sound hokey but I’ve seen some really pretty (um, festive) inspiration on Pinterest. We will see. I also picked up (yet one more) patriotic tee yesterday. Now all we need are some concrete plans for the big day. Hmmm –
I AM MAKING SPACE FOR – new flowers and, apparently, more t-shirts! I have also made more space in my mornings for working out. Most of my calorie buring/working is walking. Ok, all of it. But I am trying to do some strength training. The only time to guarantee I will get it done is in the morning and, so, I have added it to beginning of my day. Honestly, I’m not thrilled. It feels like “working out” and I don’t like working out. But I will stick with it for awhile and see if it really makes all the difference.
And, that’s it for another month. What have you been loving in May? Were you hit with the heat this month? Goodness but it has been warm in some places! Are you making space for kanything special lately? Let me know in the comments and I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend ahead. As always, thanks for stopping by today!
Let’s see, in June…
I loved the little bit of rain we got because every little bit helps in these drought conditions. Friendships (old and new) sustained me. I am carrying forward one old stitching project and some “standard” activities into July. I am making space (or I should say time) for an orthopedic appointment. Have a wonderful weekend, Jennifer.
We did have some rain, didn’t we Robin? Just enough (in my humble opinion…) Friendships do sustain us – aren’t they wonderful blessings??
Goodbye June… I cannot believe it.
I started a weight training class back in April. I hurt at the start, but now I am getting stronger and stronger. I can say it has helped me. You Can Do It!! 🙂
Thanks Carla….I am going to give it my best!:)
I hate working out too. I was just lamenting that turning 65 has been one of those years that I have felt the age and working out has been the thing that has slipped. Maybe you can motivate me!
I wish I had been a little more thoughtful on choosing some red, white and blue flowers but I have lots of pink and yellow and some purple. Flowers are always good – not matter the color.
Oh, yes, Sandy – flowers are good! No matter the color!!
I enjoyed reading about the things that sustained you in June, Jennifer. And also about the Bible study with your two friends. Those are priceless times, as well as the kind of friends to have.
The month of June I began making a bit of space for myself where I could go to do Bible study, write letters and cards. I call it The Nook.🙂
Have a wonderful weekend, my friend. xx
I love that, Dianna. Your very own nook! I know you will enjoy quiet times there!! Enjoy your weekend as well…thanks for stopping by!
Hard to believe June is nearly behind us!! Wasn’t it just April? I enjoyed your four somethings!! Wishing you a happy weekend and week ahead!
Almost July, Terri! How did that happen??:)
Can you believe that June is at the edge of being gone? July here we come… and I do not have a single red, white or blue decoration out. I visited my neighbor across the street from me (today) and her house is the cutest… Red white and blue everywhere. I really need to start a bible study soon. Thanks for the inspiration coming from your post today… Happy 4th of July week coming up and Happy end of June weekend…
So glad you stopped by, Shug! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!!
Hi Jennifer 🙂 I love the idea of meeting with friends regularly for Bible study. Years ago I had a neighbor and we would meet every morning and walk around the block and pray together. That’s a special memory. I have bought a few July 4th decorations, but not spending much on that this year. We will gather and have food as a family and we usually buy the kids some sparklers for fun. I can’t believe June is almost over! This month has flown by! I love the long, sunny days, but also counting down to cooler weather.
Hard to believe June is almost gone, sigh. I have yet to decorate for July 4–I prob. should get my behind in gear, sigh. Wishing you a lovely day.
Hi friend! I’m trying to add a good workout routine to my list in July as well, and like you, I really really don’t like working out! But I think if we are consistent we will feel better! I’m trying to push myself to be a good blogger, so maybe I’ll catch up with you at the end of July and we can share how much better we feel about working out lol!
I also love that decoration! I do love a good independence day celebration! I haven’t had one in years, but need to host soon! Hope you have a wonderful July!!!
I love bible discussions where we take a chapter and dig in to discuss. Oh time, it just keeps moving forward so fast. I get tired of always saying that and you’d think I’d get used to it. I think Im still dizzy from whizzing through the year.
There so many things, I keep meaning to do, but don’t get around to it which frustrates me. I wanted to decorate and have scaled it down. I am looking forward to the 4th. We’re observing on the 3rd at our house to accommodate schedules.
I hope you continue to feel well and happy. And thank you so much for visiting my blog. I so appreciate the encouragement. It’s been hard…still is some times. Hugs, Diane
I was just sitting here today thinking I need to add more regular workouts back into my week too… that sounds rather weird as I do go to the gym 3 days a week but a quick circuit training just does not seem to be cutting it anymore. I’m seeing weight gain and definitely dropping muscle tone. But gosh I really hate working out! But it must be done I suppose. Sorry to hear you had such a rough month health wise but glad you had family and friends to see you through.
I love that you have some friends to connect with over lunch and discuss the Bible. How lovely. What a true blessing. I am glad you are feeling better after a challenge to the beginning of the month. I get you and relate so much to the workout thing. I love to just walk truly. I know I need to add a little strength training to set up aging better.
I totally feel you with despairing if you will ever feel well again. I have been dealing with a lot of vertigo/headaches, and stuff, and it has been rough. Nothing life threatening, just very annoying, and not feeling well. I love my morning walks and I don’t mind strength training. Like you, it has to happen in the morning or it doesn’t happen. My work schedule changed where I am going in earlier for 2/3 of the days I work, and that has meant dropping some of my strength training/workout videos, but I still am getting my walks in most days, I just can’t do both on those days. There is an app called Fit On, not sure if I have mentioned it to you before, but it has strength training videos (even very short ones) and I find them very helpful. They have a lot of different types of workouts, including yoga, walking, etc. It really helped keep me motivated through the winter months. One of my favorite nonfiction books to help dig even deeper into Bible Study is Women of the Word by Jen Wilkin, although The Easy Bible Study Method by Ashley Armijo is very good as well. Sorry I haven’t been good about keeping up. Ever since my mom passed in April I am struggling with so many different things. I am working on getting back into regular blogging on my Encounters page, I am still fairly regular with my book blog. Have a great Fourth of July week!
1. My computer died, I mean dead and gone. Thanks to my daughter, I have a brand new computer that works like a charm. The good news, I can visit my blog friends as I still have my sidebar with all your blogs.
2. The bad news, My Blog Dashboard has totally disappeared and we are having a horrible time trying to retrieve it.
3. We had a wonderful VBS at our church with over 90 children and 60 workers. The theme The Lord is My Sheperd.
4. My dearest and I just celebrated 65 years of marriage on June 24. Had a lovely day together, lunch at Sizzler and ice cream and carrot cake for dessert.
Sorry I can’t post until we get my dashboard back, but in the meantime…I’ll be over to visit.
We are on the same wavelength- I have that EXACT same Oh My Stars decor piece!! And, just this month I started some strength training. Nothing fancy- I’m not going to the gym for it or anything like that. But I feel like I can already tell a difference (though that may be wishful thinking). The Bible study sounds like a really good one and how wonderful to be asked to join it (though I’m not surprised you have many friends :)). Glad you are feeling better, friend!
I love your share four things posts. I can’t believe how quickly June has flown by, like it has every month. We are halfway to Christmas and that’s crazy. That’s nice that you have friends to share a Bible study with. I can’t wait to celebrate our country’s 250th but I have a feeling my neighborhood will be setting off fireworks every night for a long time, it’s already started. I keep telling myself it’s time to get back on a good exercise routine but I procrastinate. I wish you a happy and healthy July.
June really does seem to have rushed by like an express train.
How lovely to spend time around God’s Word with some special friends over lunch .
This year will be a pretty special 4th of July celebrations. I pray everyone has a safe and fun time.
I have started doing more regular exercise too. I could never keep up with exercise classes but I found a lovely young lady on YouTube who does the perfect short workouts. I’m actually enjoying it for the first time ever.
Have a great week and God bless you.
