Hello friends. Just popping on quickly. I had planned to be on the computer, in order to post, first thing this morning. And I did, indeed, get on the computer but was devastated with the tragic plane crash news, and honestly have not been able to write. Daily, there is so much tragic news so I’m not sure why this event has so impacted me, but it has. I feel overwhelmed.
I will try to get this post completed. My idea for today was a simple one. Five Thursdays in the this month and my creativity was running low but I thought I might do something new for me – and show a completed pinterest project or idea. My pinterest boards are full to overflowing (although I do try to edit them often) with creative, useful, fun and/or just interesting pins. Many I see and think that I would love to try them – whether a recipe, an organizing project, a craft idea, or a cute bulletin board – but, most often, I do not follow through. So, this year is the year when I’m going to make more (pinterest) things happen:) And maybe I can share a few along the way here on the blog.
I recently added some Valentine fun to the room where I teach Junior Church each week. I have fun decorating for the seasons and holidays there. When I saw this pin, I thought it would be super cute on one of our bigger walls. And it was! My friend (and best assistant ever) created the lettering for the words and I made some hearts out of scrapbooking paper. I decided to simply write the names on the hearts, rather than do more lettering (and more cutting!!), but I think printing the names would look a bit better. The pinterest image has a cute guy in front of his name. I did actually take some photos with the children in front of the finished wall but don’t think I can share those. By the way, why is it when you ask kids for “a silly pose,” they all immediately stick their tongues out! LOL!!
Here is my finished Pinterest project for this month. Oh, and don’t mind the emergency lighting in the photo. I never even notice that fixture…until I am taking a photo!
And, speaking of my sweet friend and bestest class assistant, she is on vacation in Guatemala. She sent me this photo of the view from her room. I think I need to go somewhere warm!! Here’s to a warm(er) weekend. Thanks for stopping by, friends!
On the subject of going somewhere warm, I’m thinking Key West, Florida!!!
Your Valentine walls are great. ‘Tis the season!
Now you’re talking, Barbara…some southern Florida sun and warmth!!
We also are devastated by this morning’s news. We were here when the airplane hit the bridge 40 years ago(?) and when this latest tragedy arose, the other one seemed like yesterday. So much going on in the news but it’s good to get back to blogging. It doesn’t take it away by any means but visiting with blogging buddies helps. That’s such a sweet photo and cute heart decorations. When I popped into where I get my physiotherapy, they had hearts on every wall. Took me a while to realize Valentine’s Day is around the corner. I loved your berry photo and what a gorgeous view that your friend sent you. Absolutely breathtaking! I hope we get our warm weather this weekend too. Whatever it is, have a wonderful weekend with your family Jennifer.
Denise – so glad you stopped by! Speaking of weather, hooray for some rain today! I really hope it will wash some of this salt away and melt the straggling snow!! And, yes, Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. Any plans??:)
The news we woke up to yesterday was heartbreaking. I get how certain things hit differently, you know? I’ve been thinking of and praying for the families of those who were on the plane and helicopter.
On a lighter note, I love your Valentine’s day project! What a sweet idea for your kiddos. I’m sure they loved seeing that!
Aw, thank Jennifer. We are small group (in Junior Church) but we do have fun! They keep me on my toes…which is tricky for an old girl like me!:)
I used to join a monthly link up of bloggers all about using and trying those Pinterest Pins (I think it was simply called the Pinterest Challenge?) and I loved that it encouraged me to use them. I do head to Pinterest often when I’m looking for a new recipe to try or new card/scrapbooking project ideas and I definitely head there to plan trips and get ideas of what to do in the area but for the amount of pins I have I do think I hardly make a dent in them all. Your bulletin board looks great!
Thanks Joanne! I appreciate the encouragment. I’m not the craftiest one so when a project turns out, I’m happy! A Pinterest challenge sounds fun!!
Jennifer, just the fact that you remember to go to Pinterest is inspiring for me 🙂 I forget about it and yet, when I’m there, I could spend hours just dreaming about all the pretty stuff. What a cute Valentine wall! The kids love seeing their names on things.
And yes, so many tragic things in the news lately. 2025 isn’t getting quite the start I was hoping. Maybe we’re getting all the bad stuff out of the way, huh? We can only pray.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Your sweetheart wall is just precious! Good job- what a sweet reminder to your kiddos that they are loved. The plane crash news is so horrific and a reminder that life can be cut short quickly. We need to let those whom we love know that fact every day. I hope your weekend is a going well so far. Perhaps you are at a cute cafe having a cuppa :).
Isn’t Valentine’s Day a great time to show those we love a little something extra?? Valentine’s Day has a lot of naysayers…but I think it is fun! And a great idea!!
Beautiful view of Guatemala! I’d like to see that from my window.
I too was devastated with the news of the crash and yes, it seems lately we are hit right and left with crisis. One good bit of news is the release (slowly!) of hostages in Gaza.
I love your Valentine’s board. So cheery. I usually leave Valentines Day alone. It was very near when we learned of my husband’s cancer diagnosis and I have no honey to celebrate with. Maybe this year, I should do something creative!
Have a lovely weekend
Something creative sounds like a good idea! So glad you stopped by, Melanie. Hope your weekend is also going well!
You are not the only one. We are all feeling a little overwhelmed. I am also disappointed with all the finger pointing but no actual action. There was another plane crash this morning..
Another crash. It seems almost too much to believe real. And I think the finger pointing is what made Wednesday’s crash so painful. I agree with you.
What a nice room with a view, smiles. Yes, the news of the crashes is devasting. Wishing you a beautiful week ahead.
The news of both air disasters has had me sad and anxious and glued for too long to the TV. That poor angel on the medevac flight. God bless her heart. And all of those families torn apart by the loss of so many on the American Airlines flight. I cannot imagine.
I am glad to know I’m not the only one who still Pinterests. Your Valentine’s wall is adorable. I know the kids loved seeing their names up there. I miss doing displays and bulletin boards from my teaching days.
Despite Punxsutawney Phil’s prediction, we had a beautiful day today with a high of 75*. Going to be in the 80s this week. Just hope if it does get cold again, it doesn’t freeze. Have a peaceful week.
That is a really lovely Pinterest project and perfect with Valentines Day coming up very soon x
Some very sad things happening in the world. I am holding all those affected by the air disasters in my heart and prayers.
