A Daybook Entry: September 2024

Happy Monday friends!  I hope everyone had a nice weekend.  I thought I would start the week with a daybook entry for this month and “one last post” before I head off for my trip to Panama.  I will try not to make all my thoughts center around my trip, but I do think the day ahead will be occupied with final preparations, etc.  Bear with me.  This could be “A daybook entry – the Panama edition.”

The Weather – is definitely autumn-like this morning.  Was in the low 40s when we got up and I don’t think it is much higher than that as I type.  I am headed out for a walk after I finish here and do not think I will be wearing short sleeves.  I love the crisp feeling in the air though.  It feels especially nice not to be dripping in sweat after I walk.  However, won’t the abrupt return to heat and high humidity tomorrow (as I step offt he plane) be quite the shock?  I’ve heard it is the wet season in Panama.  High humidity and rain every afternoon.  A lovely forecast!?!

As I look outside my window  – the green in the grass has returned which is lovely.  A few folks on my street have put out some fall things…one even has pumpkins on the steps!  A bit early for pumpkins but I am getting closer to wanting to add some fall to the porch.  Of course, that will not happen until after I return home but I will be very ready for a change by then.  When do you add mums and/or a fall wreath to the front door??

This morning, I am – getting in one last long walk before tomorrow.  I do not think there will be time for me to take morning walks in Panama; however, we will be doing a lot of walking otherwise so I should be fine when it comes to counting my steps!  I am also doing a bit of laundry, packing and signing my husband up for WhatsApp:)  I do not plan to get a phone plan or minutes but can certainly want to keep in touch.  Especially since we will have an anniversary while I am gone!

Lately, I have been thinking about – so many things!  There has been a lot going on in life around here lately.  A lot.  As in, too much.  The timing is not perfect with my trip taking place but I am trusting God with all of it.  At least, I am trying.  I am trying to focus on what I can actually control (which is very little of the big picture) and even the things that I seeminly can control, I am trying to let go of control.  It is a challenge but is worthwhile.

What I’m wearing – or should I say, what I am packing.  All the lightweight dresses.  Not only do they add less weight to my suitcase but they will, hopepfully, be comfy in the Panama heat.  I am a rather light packer, in general, and there is not a lot laid out for the suitcase.  Honestly, I am beginning to wonder if I am forgetting things.  Without the added bulk of cardigans, jackets, heavy shoes/boots, etc….well, the suitcase is light.  So there is a plus for the “hot and more hot” forecast of Panama.

Around the house – there are is plenty that needs to be done.  And plenty that will just be left undone.  A former me would be stressed out over that but, for some reason, I am okay with just doing what I can and leaving the rest.  The bathrooms are clean and the bed is made.  I’m good:).

My To-Do List – is packing, of course.  But the last thing I want to do today (before I leave) is get a pedicure:)  I couldn’t possibly travel with a three week old pedicure – lol!  What is the last think you do before you travel?  (Again, maybe I am forgetting something that really matters!)

And, from my camera.  I too this photo of a bee this week.  I was taking some pictures of these pretty flowers – along the sidewalk in one of the cute towns near me – when I saw this bee.  I do not know how folks get such clear and upclose photos of insects or other animals.  I had that camera as far from that bee as I possibly could.  Holding my body at this awkward angle.  Just randomly snapping.  There is probably a better way but I’m far from that…..

I hope you have a great week.  There will not be any more posts this week.  I do plan to have a very random post next Monday.  A post that I will prepare before I leave.  (Add that to my to-do list.)  It will be five completely random things about me and a post just for fun.  Perhaps you will come back and leave me a random fact about yourself.  I will not be able to repond until Tuesday but will look forward to reading your thoughts.  And, I might add, there will be no response to this post either.  My apologies in advance but I do appreciate your stopping by and hope you will again next week!!  Thanks for being here –
