I have had the hardest time making the time (and effort) to get on the computer and to do some blog reading. I apologize that I have answered comments either but I’m working to get back on track. Of course, as soon as I do, I will be “mia” while I am in Panama, but that is okay. I don’t really create posts ahead of time or have ones scheduled for when I am gone. That would just be more unanswered posts and, well, that I do not need. I do hope to get a post done on Monday and, then, on Tuesday, I will fly out. The timing is a bit difficult but I am hoping the days away will be a much needed break. But enough of next week. Let me get move on and then, hopefully, get to some blog visiting.
Today’s post is a Five Minute Friday free write and today’s prompt is YOUTH. The whole link-up can be found here. Let’s go:
I recently posted a photo of the front of my church. It was part of a photo scavenger hunt and I included it not for the pretty architecture but, more so, for what that church building represents to me. A place where I gather with my church family. A church family that is indeed, in many ways, a family and I am grateful for each of them. We are a beautiful blend of seniors, toddlers, parents, grandparents and children. The young people at my church are an extra blessing to me. Teenagers that have a genuine heart for God and want to follow His leadership for his life. How encouraging is that? And the younger ones are just a joy to all of us. I am priviledged to work with the young people (4 to 4th grade!) every week. It is a highlight of my week. Planning the lessons each week not only challenges me but is also very rewarding. Spending every Sunday morning with these kiddos – whether they are coloring, laughing through a review game, working hard on a craft, or listening so intently to our Bible lesson – is, indeed, one of my greatest blessings. I am grateful. To have even a small part in shaping the youth of my church – to impact the next generation – is humbling. And a joy.
My church is also a family–I think that is what Jesus intended for us.
Hi Jennifer~ I totally understand about blogging . . . I struggle with it as well. And that’s ok. I love my church family as well, after all, we are all brother’s and sister’s, friends, teachers and students, but most of all family. I loved teaching and planning lessons for the young children in my church! They are so teachable and love to learn about , Jesus and all the beautiful words in the scriptures. I’m excited to hear all about your Panama trip!! Hugs, Barb
Testing.
Barbara – it came through perfectly!! Hooray:)
I feel quite certain that where the church has been such a blessing to you, you, too, have been a blessing for the church. I am just terrible about blog reading and commenting lately. And responding to comments on my blog. And, for that matter, writing blog posts. I think I am losing my enthusiasm. Maybe it will be rekindled with fall.
I have missed the news that you are going to Panama. Need to look back over some past posts to learn more. Hope you have a safe, wonderful trip. We lived there for 6 years. Both the Atlantic and Pacific sides of the canal. My youngest daughter was born there. Haven’t been back since we left in 1988. I keep saying someday. Safe travels!!
