Hello again friends. I am running late this morning. September – typically my favorite month of the year – has started off difficult. No…just plain hard. Not even sure I can put thoughts together here and create a post worth posting but thought I would give it a try. The rest of the link-up (with posts that are actually coherent) can be found here Jen’s blog here. Let’s jump right in. Currently, I am……
LOVING – the cool mornings that hint of fall. It warms up nicely during the day and in many ways, it still feels like summer; however, you can tell change is in the air. I snapped this first signs of fall photo in my neighborhood last week while on my morning walk. It is definitely that time of year. I am also loving the windows open, loving mornings where the sun is slower to rise and that are just slower in general, and I am not mad at all about pulling out a thin but cozy cardigan these last couple of mornings.
I few other things I have been loving recently: small scoops of ice cream from our local Brusters, homemade raspberry cookies (they are a family favorite), pumpkin biscotti dunked in my coffee, and big pots of spagetti. Not exactly time for comfort foods yet and we eat spaghetti all year long but, lately, this dinner has just been extra yummy. And why are all my favorite things…food?!? Hmmm.
LOOKING FORWARD TO – my missions trip to Panama next month. As I mentioned last month, there is a group of eleven from my church that will traveling to Panama to work alongside a veteran missionary there. We have had numerous email correspondences and a couple video calls – all for planning purposes – which have made things a bit more tangible and have uped the excitment. And the nerves, as well, if I am honest. I wish things were not so difficult here at home but it often seems to happen that way.
I have my new suitcase (I mentioned that last month as well) and all the odds and ends are purchased and collecting on a bench in my bedroom. Well be glad to start packing soon. On a random side note, I found some protein “pop tarts.” Think a protein bar type snack but in the form of a pop tart. Brilliant. I am not sure what I will find to eat each day while I am away so I’m squirreling away some extra protein. Just in case:)
SMELLING – all the fall candles in the stores. I resisted most of the fall decor and scents that hit the shelves before the Fourth of July, but lately have been browsing the aisles and enjoying all the autumn cuteness. Most often, I diffuse essential oils for yummy smells in my home but I do love smelling the candles. They smell delicious while new in the jars. I just wish they stayed that way after they were lit for more than twenty minutes. Do you have a favorite candle company? One that has scent that lasts. Just curious.
WATCHING – a major life change unfold before my eyes. I pray I will look back and see how God used these days and will be able to say that much good came from it.
ADMIRING – my husband. He is such a rock for me. For my family. I am grateful for his calm demeanor. His slow to react that offsets my impulsiveness. For his support and so much more.
Well, that is a wrap, my friends. I know that ended a bit abruptly and somewhat evasive. But that is life just now. One day I will look back and these posts and will need to remember. But, for now…this is a good place to end. Let me know what you are “currently” up – and what you might be looking forward to. I’d love to hear about. I hope to post on Friday but we will see what this week holds in store. Definitely would like to post on Monday before I leave and then I will be “out of the office.” Until then, have a great week. So glad you stopped by!!
Lovely new photo of you, my friend! I am sorry that this month has been a bit rough so far. I am one of those weird people who don´t burn candles! I do the wax melts, though, and use a pumpkin muffin scented one year round. Horay for dependable, unflappable husbands- what you wrote about your husband is true about mine as well. Have a great day!
I love your new photo. You are a beautiful woman. I’m sorry to hear you are experiencing something rough but I pray God gets you through this season.
Jennifer, I’m so sorry that life is hard right now. May the God of peace and comfort enfold you in His arms.
I also want to say that I am loving the new profile picture here on your blog! It is fantastic.
Praying for you, my friend.
I’m sorry you’re having a challenging time now, my friend. I’m whispering, “This too shall pass,” for you. Your trip sounds exciting, and you described September beautifully. Have a cozy evening.
Sorry to hear that September has already started out so hard! I hope you have a great time in Panama. All the foods you love sound so delicious. I tend to be a real foodie too and often the first thing that pops into my head when I think favorites is food too!
Jennifer, I’m so sorry to hear you are going through a rough time. Please know that I’m thinking of you and praying for you. I’m praying for comfort, strength, and peace.
So sorry life is so hard right now. Praying your missions trip will go well and that God will bless you and everyone involved. Take care my friend.

I hope things will improve soon.
What a lovely new profile photo! I’m sorry that September hasn’t got off to a good start for you and hope that life gets easier as the month unfolds.
Wishing you a safe journey to Panama when the time comes, what an adventure!
It’s been good to catch up with you after my month long absence, Jennifer. I’m sorry September has not been the best so far and pray that God will meet all your needs as he sees best.
Take care dear friend x
Antique candle company has great candles and the scent lasts right to the end. I have one I still burn that is years old and almost done and still just as strong. But on that note the scent is often almost too strong.
Thanks much. I am going to look into Antique Candle Company. I’m wondering if I have ever had one of their candles…hmm. I appreciate the suggestion:)
