Trading my ashes for beauty….that He might be glorified. Isaiah 61:3
Who am I? A wife for almost 40 years. A mom for over 36 years. A sister and a friend, of course. Each of these help describe me. But, even more, I have been a Christian since accepting Him as my Savior when I was 12 years old and, this truth defines each area of my life. I have enjoyed some mountain top experiences but have been through some very deep valleys as well. Valleys of incredible grief and even pits of depression. However, most of my days are ordinary, routine kind of days. But in every one of my days, God has been faithful. He has walked with me whatever the day. He strengthens, comforts, encourages and blesses me with life "most abundant."
A favorite life verse: The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. John 10:10
Why do I write? Though not quite as private as my dad, I am definitely my father's daughter. I find it difficult to share. And to let others in. But I do love to write. I love to put words into sentences and sentences in paragraphs that help express my thoughts. I hope my words help me share my heart. Share the life that God has given me and all that He has done for me and through me. I write with the hope of giving Him at least a bit of the glory He is due.
A verse to guide my writing: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ. I Peter 1:7

Happy Monday friends! I hope you had a good weekend. I was finally able to get out of the house:) We walked around an outdoor fall festival on Saturday. Our first for the season….and what a beautiful Saturday it was! Later that evening, we were able to celebrate birthdays with the sweet gift I received from my friend. I mentioned it under “something loved” in this post. It was a great family evening! Yesterday was a full day at church. There were already plans on the calendar that I could not change and I am grateful that God gave me enough health (and voice) to enjoy a special time with my Junior Church kiddos (they are such a joy to me)….but, now I am done. As in, depleted. Whatever less than ideal amount of energy/strength I had somehow accrued during my couch time last week has been completely drained. I’m feeling every ounce of my age in this new decade of life – ha.
But….not complaining. It was a beautiful weekend and I am grateful for all of it. And now I have Monday (hooray!) to get refreshed and start anew. Although slowly:) Did you have an extra blessing this past weekend? Share it with me. Here’s to a healthy week ahead!!
It sounds like you are still recovering from the flu. Your body still needs a lot of rest. I am glad that you had such a good, if tiring, weekend (and isn’t it a blessing to not have to go to work on Monday?). Our areas must have had similar weather over the weekend. How nice to get to be out and enjoy it at a festival. You must be such a blessing to your Junior Church kiddos. We had a young man get baptized at church on Sunday. I know him (a little) from subbing at school. He is such a great kid and I was so happy to see him get baptized. Happy Monday!
Being at home on Mondays is the best!! Trying to rest…and working on the whole resting patiently!!:) Happy Monday to you too, friend!
I really felt encouraged as I read this post! I agree, you are probably still run down because of being sick. I hope you take all the time you need to get back to yourself. The Fall Festival sounds fun! Here in Idaho, we have, Spud Days in our little city…always a fun day, and you get a free potato with all the trimmings! When I am teaching youth at church, they always bless me way more that I bless them. I’ll bet you’re a wonderful teacher! Enjoy this beautiful week!!
Spud Days….that sounds like a yummy festival!! Hope you are having a great day, Barbara!
It sounds like you really needed a clear Monday to recharge your battery. When you’ve been unwell it is so hard not to overdo things once you start to feel better, we are all guilty of that. Hope you have woken this morning with replenished energy!
