Who am I? A wife for almost 40 years. A mom for over 36 years. A sister and a friend, of course. Each of these help describe me. But, even more, I have been a Christian since accepting Him as my Savior when I was 12 years old and, this truth defines each area of my life. I have enjoyed some mountain top experiences but have been through some very deep valleys as well. Valleys of incredible grief and even pits of depression. However, most of my days are ordinary, routine kind of days. But in every one of my days, God has been faithful. He has walked with me whatever the day. He strengthens, comforts, encourages and blesses me with life "most abundant."

A favorite life verse: The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. John 10:10

Why do I write? Though not quite as private as my dad, I am definitely my father's daughter. I find it difficult to share. And to let others in. But I do love to write. I love to put words into sentences and sentences in paragraphs that help express my thoughts. I hope my words help me share my heart. Share the life that God has given me and all that He has done for me and through me. I write with the hope of giving Him at least a bit of the glory He is due.

A verse to guide my writing: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ. I Peter 1:7

One Day Closer to Friday!

THANKFUL THURSDAY – and I think everyone! knows what I am thankful for today:) So much so, I don’t think I’ll even blog about it anymore…at least, not this week!

A few other things to be thankful for today –

*thunderstorms – and the cool fronts that come with them bringing a little break in the summer’s humidity
*the song of whippoorwills early in the morning – these always stir up memories of my grandparents’ house and great visits there when I was a little girl
*all the America flags still proudly displayed throughout the neighborhood
*an unexpected phone call yesterday from a friend I haven’t seen in too long
*Riley’s great report from her two-year check yesterday – and no more shots for a year!
*God’s faithfulness….even when my faith is so small.

Looking forward to Mary Poppins tonight – what fun! Hope your Thursday is full of moments to be thankful for and good things to anticipate!!

  4. I'm a little jealous of Mary Poppins and the Cheesecake Factory! But,I am so happy that you get to see your son. I hope it is a happy, blessed visit and that he gets to do all the things he wants to do…. and that you get to have some special one-on-one time with him. As a mother of two boys, I know how I love that! Look forward to hearing all about it. Oh, and we are going to use the peace lilies at the wedding in Sept. After that, I will probably share them with my children.

  5. Yay! Jordan is almost there! I hope you guys have such a nice time together Jen 🙂 Take TONS of pictures, even if you think they are hokey. Sometimes the goofiest moments can bring about the best pictures! Especially the candid shots when people aren't posing.

    I read your comment about my background. Hee-hee 🙂 Will have to take care of that someday I suppose! We don't have a lot going on this weekend so maybe will try calling. On second thought, Jordan will be there so I'll wait until after he leaves.

    Bob is home this coming Monday and Tuesday so he'll have a 4 day weekend this weekend! He had 2 days left of vacation time that he had to use up by August 1st so his boss told him to take Monday and Tuesday. He told me to come up with some "fun stuff" to do. Yeesh. I have been wracking my brain so we'll see. Someone told me the Science Center has some AWESOME stuff for kids Riley's age so we might do that one day.
