Doing What We Do Because of Tyler

AWESOME!! That is exactly what my step-daughter, Erica, is saying here……and it truly was awesome! The entire morning:)

We were at a 5K Race to benefit the Brain Tumor Society. The weather was perfect. The energy and mood was exhilirating and we both felt so good doing something so positive to honor our sweet Tyler.

Actually this whole week that they have been here visiting has been fantastic and I wasn’t sure I would really have (or make) much time for the computer but I just so wanted to share a few pictures from the race (and I’m sure I will share more later of Miss Roo!!)

The race was downtown on Pennsylvania Avenue and followed the same route that they use for the inaugural parade. Erica, who is a “new” runner, did the runner. I did the volunteering – and cheering!!

There were 10,000 (yea TEN THOUSAND) runners and walkers! Freedom Plaza was packed – runners/walkers of all ages…survivors…and supporters/loved ones of people affected by brain tumors.

There was a Wall of Hope filled with photos remembered by loved ones. Of course, Erica ran to honor her brother. It really was touching and heartbreaking to see all the faces…especially all the children and babies represented on the wall.

We lovedt that Tyler’s page was located right under the words….Seek Peace!! Although most of the pictures were just of the individual – I chose a photo of Tyler and his sister:)

And what does 10,000 runners look like?? This is just a glimpse! This is a part of the survivor parade – the survivors were in yellow t-shirts with the yellow balloons – that started the parade. The cheering was overwhelming!

And what was I doing while Erica was “pounding the pavement”??? Enjoying the super cool buildings downtown:)
And all the cute puppies! This is so much more my speed on a humid morning downtown:)

Crossing the finish line!!
It was a winning moment for all of us – Erica (her best time yet!), me..so proud of her, and all of us inspired – again..and still! – by Tyler:)
